  • "First I must comment on the fact that I made the reservation on open table, but the next day I was called by the restaurant to say that open table had accepted my reservation time incorrectly. I figured anyone can make a mistake and I took a res for one hour later . Then, on the Saturday eve before the (Easter Sunday) res I received a message on my phone that the res was now moved to one half hour later. I was not happy! Two of us received cold food. the waiter was very attentive & did take it to the kitchen to be heated. Another in our party ordered steak and found it to be tasteless. I did not like the veal or the flavor of the potatoes. This was not a good dining experience. I must say again however that our waiter was very good. "

  • "This was the first time at this restaurant for all of my party. General consensus was that we would not return. When we sat down the table for 2 next to our table was not occupied, but after about 30 minutes a couple was seated there. It became a very awkward situation, and the expression on their faces when they saw how crowded it was said it all. The rest of seating in the restaurant also looked crowded. The food was okay. I had the capriccioso. I usually don't mind salt, but this was really salty. It did have 2 nice pieces of chicken and the risotto. The other in my party complained the food was bland. "

The staff knows the menu and the wine list, and can point you in the right direction. You are not rushed through the courses, in fact, you are urged to sit, relax, and enjoy your dinner. "

  • "The ratings I gave this were nit-picky and could have been 9's out of 10. We got there early so it was quiet. I imagine any Italian place gets loud when it's full! I definitely will go back. All four of us really liked our meals and our Server, albeit busy, was helpful and professional."

  • "Maybe it was becaused we used a Groupon..although the bartender didn't know that at the time. We sat at the bar and right from the start we felt that we were putting the bartender out, Between talking with other customers who were obvisouly friends of hers and texting on her phone, she seemed to have little time for us. When one of our dished went basically untouched, she never asked why and at that point we just wanted to get out of there. We went one other time and we thought the food and service were great. We were really disappointed the second time."

The staff is also pleasant and attentive. They play Italian music which fits in very well with the restaurants theme and furnishings."

  • "Browned lettuce, gloppy chix parmesan? Gee, rather disappointing, given our previous, and numerous, visits. Wine list is still great, but some attention to the quality of basic dishes is warranted. We won't be coming back for awhile, in hopes that the cooking might improve. We want this to be a great Italian dining experience, but fear that too many corners are being cut by the serving of mediocre dishes. We hope for better."

  • "My experience at Bon Caldo was average. The food was good and the service was not over the top. I enjoyed most of my food but wish my ravioli came with more than just 3 small scallops. My only real complaint would be that the server felt the need to remind me of my groupon discount which I could clearly read myself. I'm not sure if she thought I would not tip properly but that was pretty insulting to me. Lobster ravioli was delicious, the shrimp and clam linguini was really great and the calamari was perfect. Overall my experience was good. I would definitely return but probably not with a groupon."

  • "The girlfriend and I went on a Friday night . The service was well below average. She "checked" in on us once after we received our food. If you call walking by and not making eye contact while saying " How is everything? good? good", we weren't even able to get a word out before she was gone. She dumped the check off without saying a word, the whole night was completely bizarre. The food was average, no better or worse. I had the pork tenderloin which had great taste, but was overdone causing it to be dry (was never asked for how I wanted it done). The girlfriend had a ravioli dish which was OK, but nothing exceptional. It was a Friday night, but it was not busy at all (there was no wait to be seated). I won't be returning."

  • "I bought a Groupon online for BonCaldo since I heard about it from a friend that lives in the Norwood area. The host sat us promptly and the server was right there with bread and water. They serve a dipping sauce with the bread that was surprisingly different. It was cold and had a great texture and flavor. I would go back just for that sauce. Our appetizer was the antipasto for two and had a great selection of cheeses, meats and olives. We had the scallop pasta dish and the pappadelli with short ribs, both were excellent. I think we just found our new favorite italian restaurant."

  • "My husband and I have gone to Bon Caldo several times. He likes their chicken Marsala. I am always somewhat disappointed. The first couple of times, the dishes were TOO lemony. We went with 2 other couples this time. It was ok but not great. One of us ordered the pan seared scallops, and was very disappointed to find only 2 scallops in the entreee!. the server explained that it was a PASTA dish not a SCALLOP dish...THEN THE PASTA SHOULD HAVE BEEN LISTED FIRST IN THE DESCRIPTION!. To make up for that, we were given complimentary limoncella, which was a nice touch.... NO one else complained, and i enjoyed (but did not love!) my shrimp and pasta. All thing considered, good, but not great!"

  • "I took my adult daughter to BonCaldo for her 29th birthday. The bread with the dipping sauce was outstanding and delicious. The chicken marsala was very tasty. The fruit de mare was as fresh as can be. The reason for the 3 stars for service was that our waitress was obviously in a hurry. She was pleasant, but didn't explain the details of our groupon and that the groupon doesn't include specials of the night, etc. I had a little bit of trouble at times hearing my daughter talk to me because our table was so close to the table next to us which had 4 people and they were talking loudly. Ambience was nice, but too bright. I would go again because of the food."

  • "Found this restaurant through Groupon. The deal was for an appetizer and two entrees for only $24 and I decided it was worth giving it a shot. I will definitely go back to this restaurant even if I don't have a deal to use. To start they give you bread and water right away. I was not a fan of the bread nor the cold dipping sauce. I was expecting it to be warm so it was a bit of a shock. We ordered the calamari appetizer. Which I normally am not a calamari fan and I absolutely loved their calamari. What was extremely surprising was how quickly the calamari was brought out to our table. The entrees we ordered were also extremely delicious. I could only eat half of my meal the lobster raviolis were huge! Also the service was great!"

  • "I took my mother to BonCaldo for her birthday because it is her favorite restaurant. The host was vey pleasant and sat us right away. The server was very nice and did a great job. We both had very enjoyable meals and a very good wine recommend by the owner himself. They even brought out a small chocolate cake with a candle for her birthday dessert. Overall it was a great birthday dinner celebration for my mother. Be back again soon."

  • "We were trying this restaurant for the first time with a Groupon certificate. We were happy that the waiter did not treat us any differently once we told him about our Groupon, which has happened in the past with other restaurants. Many see it as a big coupon and I think the servers fear that you won't tip on the full amount. The ambiance was nice and the food was very good. To top it all off...our martinis were excellent and NOT watered down. We'll definitely go back and we're glad we tried it!"

  • "The waitress was new and not very attentive. She had at most 3 tables. Each with just a couple at them. However,we had to wait for everything including our check. We had finished our coffee and desert and she cleared the table and disappeared for at least 15 minutes. The food was ok but not great. Pasta was warm and the seafood in it was almost cold. It was like they had the pasta in a pot threw it in my dish then threw warmed up shellfish on it and covered it with sauce. There are just too many really good Italian restaraunts around to waste my time at a poor one. I won't be back anytime soon. This is too bad because we had gone there a couple of years ago and it was excellent. Maybe new owner or manager. I don't know what happened."

  • "When Bon Caldo opened the menu was much more ambitious and varied. The entire experience was more upscale. My last two visits were disappointing. This time, the restaurant was busy but not packed yet service was extremely slow. At one point our waitress said the kitchen threw away her ticket for our main courses. She also disappeared frequently. They used to feature a garlicky mussels appetizer served in a beautiful bowl with a broth so delicious that we were tempted to eat it with a spoon. Now the appetizer is rather bland, with little broth and served in a stainless steel mixing bowl. The mussels were tiny and rather tasteless. Bon Caldo is worth a try, but the overall quality has definitely declined - but the prices have not."
