Diner Reviews
  • "Bombay Club is a great place for a business lunch where you need to be able to talk and hear each other AND have a great dining experience. Several of us make a point of revisiting Bombay club for dinner on a regular basis because of the great food, service, and overall experience. Don't hesitate to ask for suggestions!"

  • "Make sure to order the Cobra Coffee for dessert! The food is delicious, the service is great, the ambience is lovely."

  • "Bombay Club is a wonderful Indian restaurant with great food, a luxurious setting, and attentive service. We have eaten there many times and the food is reliably excellent. The spices are subtle and do not overwhelm the very high quality main ingredients. The tandoori scallops appetizer is particularly pleasing."

  • "Exceeded expectations which were sky high from reading other reviews. One of the finest Indian restaurants in the U.S. For sure and we have dined at some of the best places from coast to coast - just try it!"

  • "I arranged for a dinner for my company's summer intern to have a nice dinner with his girlfriend, as he has been a huge asset to us. I called ahead for payment arrangements and was delighted with how easy it was to arrange. He said the whole experience was amazing and that the food was spectacular. Ronnie was their server, and they said he was excellent. Thank you for making the evening so great!"

  • "My husband and I went here after reading several reviews and we were not dissapointed! The food, ambience and service were all wonderful. We both ordered the "thalis" and I think that is a great way to go because it is a small taste of everything. We finished dinner with the Cobra coffee which I can't stop thinking about. It is flambeéd with scotch and orange peel, wow. All in all- go and enjoy!"

  • "We have been going to Bombay Club on occasional mid-day Sundays for the past ten years. Sadly for us, the past several visits have been disappointing. The selection and overall tastiness of the buffet offerings is well below the level of even one or two years ago, and not improving. The staff look great, but are losing the polish and poise of years past."

  • "Delicious meal at an outdoor table -- perfect for enjoying a summer evening and less formal than eating indoors. The crispy kale appetizer was an unexpected standout."

  • "I wanted to plan a surprise bday dinner date for my Fiance and I chose this place just by trusting on the reviews. To my surprise it was more romantic and wonderful dinner place as mentioned in the reviews. My Girlfriend was flattered by the ambiance, live piano, food, service etc.. I would like to personally Thank Bombay Club for making my surprise a Hit..."

  • "Lovely brunch overall but easier access to the various foods would be appreciated by these guests. Were disappointed not to be given the table requested when reservation was made."

  • "A great meal out for a special occasion. Located very centrally and with outstanding decor. The live piano player was a very nice addition. Food was very good - the paneer tandoori and scallop starters in particular as well as a good wine selection."

  • "We have been to the Bombay Club many times but mostly on special occasions. We believe they are a very upscale restaurant with old world charm and courteous and friendly staff, plus the best Indian food in DC. I only gave them 4 stars on the food this time because my husband didn't feel that their Chicken Biryani was up to their best. Everything else was fabulous. I, however, do wish there was such a thing as a dress code. I find it offensive that people come to such an elegant restaurant in jeans and flip flops, the same thing they would wear to McDonald's, this of course is not the restaurants fault."

  • "The Bombay Club continues to be one of my favorite fine dining experiences in Washington! The Thalis are delicious and beautifully presented. The staff is professional and discrete."

  • "The food was fascistic! We ordered a few different things from the menu and everything was beyond tasty! I look forward to going back again!"

  • "Food was subtle -spicy; very flavorful. Great experience. Attentive staff."

  • "Gorgeous room, superb service, excellent food. People have complained at size of portions but I didn't find that at all. If you have a starter, main course, and dessert, you will leave pleasantly full and not stuffed. Split the Indian dessert sampler, delicious. And I'd suggest branching out from the usual chicken biryani or lamb vindaloo; lots of variety here."

  • "Bombay never fails to disappoint. The service is perfect and so is their Daal makhni. Will be back in no time."

  • "Went to dinner during my official trip. Very impressive"

  • "The entrees we ordered were delicious and the wine was wonderful. Unfortunately, the entrees were extremely overpriced for the portion sizes served."

  • "We arrived more than a half hour early for our reservation and were seated immediately. The food and service were outstanding. We've been to many Indian restaurants in the area and Bombay Club is already a favorite after two visits. It is also one of the only restaurants in DC where we have been served red wine at the proper temperature! Perhaps having been around for awhile, it's not hopping with millennials or trying to be trendy. If you prefer a slightly old-fashioned atmosphere (live pianist, waiters in tuxes) that is still sleek and not stuffy, you would enjoy this place. (Only negative on this visit was being seated where I had a close and direct view of the entrance to the men's room...)"

  • "The krispy kale salad is unique and delicious! We always go to Bombay Club when in DC. Parking is an issue, so leave early for your reservation, or walk. Valet parking would be nice. Maybe they offer it and we were just unaware? This is a nice place to try something new, and the staff is always happy to answer any questions about the menu. Looking forward to next time!"

  • "This is by far our favorite Indian restaurant. It reminds us of Bombay Brasserie in London. I love both Rakikas, but there's an elegance about Bombay Club that is not duplicated. Took friends there for the first time before a show recently - they LOVED it also. Great food, service and ambiance."

  • "Normally the restaurant is spot on. The service is excellent, food the best in the area, and atmosphere is wonderful (due to the service). However, on this occasion, on a Saturday night, reserved for a special occasion for my friend, the five of us found the service to be horrible. We had to ask for our drinks 15 minutes after we ordered them. And throughout the meal, rarely saw the server. This is not the kind of service I expect at Bombay. I am hoping that our waiter just had an off day."

  • "A good choice for authentic Indian food in a fine dining atmosphere. The thalis are a very good deal and provide a taste of 5 different dishes for a reasonable price. My only complaint is that some of the chairs and upholstery could use updating, specifically some of the faux leather chairs have tears and these detract from the nice atmosphere of the place."
    Dined on 6/13/2014
  • "Our group of 5 chose from pre/post dinner theater menu. Salmon was excellent as well as kale salad. Waiter patiently explained the different dishes offered. Only wish when I wanted to tke 1/2 meal home, the sauce and rice should have been included in the box!"

  • "The food was well-spiced and hearty, though the portions were a little smaller than I expected for the prices. I liked that this was a more traditional menu of Indian food, instead of some of the fusion I have tried at other restaurants. The patio was only half-full around 6:30, so it was lovely to sit outside and watch the sun set. The service was very prompt, which was a pleasant surprise as I was eating alone. All in all, would love to come back with friends for a special occasion."

  • "Terrific food but too loud for a business meeting. The service was perfect. Dress code from casual to 3 piece suits. I'd go back, but not with business in mind"

  • "The food was fantastic, the ambiance pleasant, and the service delightful! Our waiter recommended the crispy kale appetizer, and we went for it even though we don't usually like kale... It was delicious! Everything from the starters to the dessert was wonderful, and the prices we're very decent. No complaints here!"

  • "Bombay Club offers an authentic Indian dining experience near the White House. Great ambience with ceiling fans reflecting old world Bombay club atmosphere. Top grade service. We had green chili chicken (unsparingly spicy hot so be prepared for that), vindaloo lamb in rich sauce ready for sopping up with fluffy naan, and the quintessential palak paneer. Be sure to order raita to cool it all down. Chutney homemade makes for a nice accompaniment. Order a cold Kingfisher beer, as I personally feel it is the ideal pair with the food in spite of the class of the joint. Recommended. "

  • "I highly recommend dining at the Bombay Club restaurant in DC. The atmosphere is just right, not over the top, but not too casual, either. The service is phenomenal and the food is incredibly delicious! The piano player adds just the right touch with his soft music in the background!"

  • "Everything about the Bombay Club is classic. From the outstanding food to the innovative and reasonably priced wine list. My wife and I went for her birthday. We had cocktails at the bar and enjoyed the piano player and ambiance of the room. The vibe was busy and the service was outstanding. The food selection is terrific. I had a nice selection seafood plates with the Thali, while my wife enjoyed a curry dish. Everything was spiced to our liking with a nice heat not overpowering. The wine list was very innovative with many great finds to compliment the variety of flavors that Indian food often presents. We had a nice dry Reisling with complimented the food well and it was very reasonably priced. "
