Bombay ClubTerrific food and service.Terrific food and service. It was a bit noisy for a business meeting but we made it work. I definitely will go back!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Atmosphere and DishesBombay Club delivers quality Indian dishes with atmosphere to boot. The background piano is a nice touch to a intimate dining experience.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurantBeing a first generation Indian, I know I am very good judge of the quality of Indian food since and this restaurant is no doubt right on the money. Every bite was amazing! I recommend this restaurant to anyone who is willing to spend a little more for a really wonderful classic Indian meal. The service is also impeccable!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect spotBombay Club is a perfect place for a delicious meal and good business conversations.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat as always!Love the Bombay Club! (Definitely a worthy alternative if you can't get into Rasika). They did a great job as always (get the spinach chat).5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMProbably not a good deal!Ambience in restaurant is good. The live piano music was satisfactory. The service was great. The dessert was good. But, the food was average. This might be okay if the.price was average. But, the price is above average. Thus, I would question whether this is the best deal in town. Still, it is a safe decision if you are in a pinch as to where to go for a special occasion.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been going to TheWe have been going to The Bombay Club for the past twenty (20) years. Great Food! Great Service!!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food -- Mediocre ServiceFantastic food -- however, they did mess up our order and brought the wrong items. They quickly remedied the problem so it wasn't a big deal. When it came to the bill, they had charged us TWICE for the 2 dishes -- one for the right order and once for the incorrect order. Again, they fixed it.
Arriving at exactly 8:30pm -- we were told our table will be another few minutes. However, we did see at least 4-5 open tables. Regardless, after getting a drink and waiting for 15minutes -- I went up again and asked for the status and the new host replied by saying it was ready the entire time and thought we were running late.
Service lacks the attention to detail required for a premiere establishment. It's a shame b/c the food was delicious.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ServiceI've been to Bombay Club a few times now and have not been disappointed. Our server in particular was excellent. He was attentive and extremely knowledgeable about the menu yet was not overbearing. The food was excellent as usual. We'll be back again.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent restaurant. GreatExcellent restaurant. Great food, outstanding service. Extremely nice environment in which to dine.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMA most pleasing surpriseWhen my friends invited me to the Bombay Club, I have to admit that I was less than excited. I am not a fan of Indian food, I do not like too spicy and I really dislike the taste of curry. However, I must admit that I am a big fan of the food at the Bombay club. Everything we ate was extraordinary. I don't remember any of the names but you should definitely try something they have crispy arugula and spinach that is to die for. The best part of the mean was the desert. You have to try the mango crème brulée. It is the best I have ever tries (and I am a sort of a crème brulée connoisseur)5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything clicked!I took "foodie" friends from NYC on my first visit to the Bombay Club, so I was understandably nervous. I needn't have been. It's an elegant restaurant, but the prices are surprisingly moderate ($17-$22 for entrees). The wine list is very good, and the waiter was knowledgeable about it. Dinner was well paced, and every food choice "clicked," from chick pea fritters to my plate of "Delhi street food." The duck and Tandoori chicken were succulent, the naan was delicious, and the three chutneys were a perfect accompaniment. The only off note was waiting at the door while the host gave extensive directions to someone on the phone. (Can't the phone be handed off to a helper?) But he apologized, and we were off and running on a perfect evening.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMBombay NightTerrific dinner. Following the recommendations in the Washington Post, we tried the Chat and the Duck in Apricot sauce - both were great. The prices are very reasonable - given the ambiance and food. The service was slow at first, but acceptable.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMSouth Asian EleganceBombay club has been Dc's best and most beautiful Indian Restaurant for decades. It's two sisters, Rasika East and West give it a run but in the end the old place wins. The white baby grand is the centerpiece of the lovely main dining room. The food and service excel. Go and Enjoy!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAt first, we were denied aAt first, we were denied a table because we didn't have reservations. We looked around the restaurant and noticed at least 16 open tables. We walked outside and OpenTable found available reservations all evening. So, of course, we made one and then walked right back in. Clearly, the restaurant host needs to treat walk-ins better, but at least there's a way around it.
The food here is a mixture of traditional and slightly non-traditional Indian food ... it was excellent. The table service was also excellent and had the right balance between attending to our needs and not being intrusive.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMNice for a business lunchThe atmosphere was just right, the food great, the service excellent.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently One of the BestOn every front, The Bombay Club remains one of the top restaurants in Washington. Superb management, exceptional staff, great cuisine. What else is there to say??4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time, but this willFirst time, but this will not be my last. Wonderful service and great food. A special nod to the bartenders... the wine recommendations were spot on - well done!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMBest curry yetBest curry I have had yet since moving from London4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experienceEverything was delicious. Definitely on a different level from the typical neighborhood Indian restaurant. I'll be interested to see how Rasika compares if I ever get there. Be warned that the ambiance is a little on the formal side, however, I think it's a nice change of pace from other popular restaurants.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service, great food,Great service, great food, great ambience. Very pricey but well worth for special occassion.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food here is always uniquelyThe food here is always uniquely tasty...not ordinary Indian cuisine.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMA fun eveningExcellent Indian cuisine with attentive and informed service. Wines are well chosen and fairly priced. The pianist gives this restaurant a fun "retro" feel. We will return!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMVery attentive waiter andVery attentive waiter and maitre. Food delicious. Staff very understanding of health dietary restrictions, and adjusted recipes accordingly, while maintaining subtlety of cuisine.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMTerrific menu and deliciousTerrific menu and delicious food! Great choice especially when your spouse or clients want something a little different than the normal steakhouse fare.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe trout was outstanding,The trout was outstanding, as was the vegetarian Thali.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMRun, don't walk!I've been here twice for their Sunday Brunch and if I could afford to go every Sunday I would. Fabulous food! Just took two of my friend's for their birthdays and they were raving about it all of the way home. You know you're at an awesome Indian brunch when 75% of your fellow diners are Indian!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMElegant atmosphere, goodElegant atmosphere, good service, tasty food. Portions were small to moderate.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMHigh standardsAlthough we have eaten at Bombay Club many times we had not been there in over 18 months. Still excellent dining experience and elegant atmosphere.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBombay Club is a restaurantBombay Club is a restaurant I save for very special occasions, the excellence there is special. On my last visit, from the moment my date had her chair pulled out for her and was assisted as she sat, I was reminded that this was no ordinary restaurant. I found each of the veggie dishes I tried to be exceptionally tasty - corn mushroom samosas, garlic & onion naan, dal makhni, lemon & rice with cashews. The ambiance inside is special, the live piano music adds an elegant touch. My date had had a very long day at work, I watched her demeanor change over the time we were there; afterward she remarked that it was the best Indian restaurant she'd visited in DC and how she had enjoyed her time there. I second that.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat outdoor dining experiencegreat outdoor dining experience - - - loved it! Food was great, service was great, highly recommend4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were pleased again withWe were pleased again with great Indian food, drinks, service, and pleasant atmosphere with live piano and lively conversation in background. DC was crowded with cherry trees in blossom around town. Although the restaurant was nearly full on a Monday night, the staff were in good spirits and did not seem overloaded. We were glad we had made a reservation and arrived early, however, to get our preferred table. Bombay Club has become our favorite restaurant when we come to DC on business. We certainly will be back again!4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and atmosphereOutstanding service and the food was delicious. We ordered a couple of items that our waiter recommended and loved them. He was very helpful with the menu and with making suggestions. I loved the piano player. It was relaxing and romantic without being stuffy or too loud. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you want a nice dinner with family and friends or for a romantic date.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding Indian restaurantExcellent food and service in a beautiful dining room with piano music in the background.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMBritish ColonialBrunch at the Bombay Club is to travel to another time and another life. It reminds me of the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong and The Rock in Gibraltar - reserved, elegant and very British. Here the food is seasoned perfectly and the aromas match the intensity of exquisite flavors. Add champagne, a piano playing softly and valet parking - the Bombay Club is my first choice for brunch in Washington.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMElegant Indian at its very bestWe chose Bombay Club for a special birthday dinner. We both love Indian, and expectations were very high.
Ambiance is excellent - it's an elegant, well appointed dining room. The
Service is exceptional. The waiters, Maitre'd, even busboys, were impeccable in their timing.
The food, is, in a word - delicious. But a word of warning, if you don't like spicy, tell them to temper it down. Even some dishes not marked as spicy on the menu had quite a bit of kick. (So much so we had to get some lassis and raita to cool off). Amazingly, though, the heat didn't overwhelm the amazing flavors of the dishes.
One note - the dining room can get a little loud at peak times, so plan on a later dinner when it's more quiet.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMVery fine Indian cuisine,Very fine Indian cuisine, superb dal and spinach dishes. Excellent, unobtrusive service. Always a pleasure. It can be a bit noisy on weekends, however.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMExquisite food and outstandingExquisite food and outstanding service. Highly recommended.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe stopped for lunch recentlyWe stopped for lunch recently and were served an excellent lunch incorporating the suggestions from our knowledgeable server. Treat yourself to a special meal at this fine restaurant.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMchampaigne brunch was excellent, champaigne brunch was excellent, limited options, but everything was great.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMfab non-traditional Easter BrunchAn elegant place for brunch near the White House. Food and service were terrific. Bombay Club was an outstanding choice for my family's Easter brunch in D.C. My kids (ages 8 & 5) loved the piano music and were made to feel very special and pampered.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've gone two years in aWe've gone two years in a row for Easter brunch and it has been spectacular both times. The buffet offers a great variety of Indian food that is served in a beautiful presentation that would appeal to vegetarians and carnivores alike. The service is excellent. We enjoy the champagne brunch and not once do they allow your glass to empty. The tables are cozy without being too close. The live piano music adds nice ambiance without being imposing. We'd definitely recommend to anyone and will go again in the future. Highly recommend.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMBombay Club's Indian BuffetBombay Club's Indian Buffet brunch is just excellent. The service and atmosphere remain the same (in other words, elegant and impeccable), but you have the opportunity to try a variety of dishes -- all wonderful. The staff allowed my party to have a leisurely experience (no rushing us to the buffet or out of the restaurant) and the coffee/chamapgne glasses were always kept full.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and service both outstanding.Food and service both outstanding. Our guests had never had Indian food before. They looooved it.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I eat at RasikaMy husband and I eat at Rasika quite a bit, but we had never tried the Bombay Club until this past weekend. It has some similar dishes as Rasika, but it is a more formal setting at the Bombay Club. Excellent food and service. I would definitely come back again.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMA must in DCWe had an amazing Indian dinner here. It's dressy, and delicious. We took our two kids, 9 and 12, and the waiter had great recommendations for them - - mild for the two who aren't ready for Indian food yet. :)3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMTook my husband there forTook my husband there for his birthday- great ambiance and food.
