Diner Reviews
  • "As if this restaurant needs more praise, I should say that the spicing of every dish - and there were a lot of them - was complex, varied and delicious."

  • "My cousin took me to The Bombay Club on a recent visit to Washington DC and I was blown away by the quality of food they had to offer. The dishes were surprisingly unique but maintained that ethnic feel and taste. I am of Indian origin and find it difficult to find good Indian food in North America but The Bombay Club is by far the closest. I will definitely be back on my next visit to DC."

  • "The chef was willing to work with requests-which is always appreciated. Indian food has a reputation for bold flavors, however here this was not the case. The only spice was a slow building heat, also common in Asian foods, but otherwise not very flavorful. The service was lacking at our table. Drinks were not refilled readily, and it took time get our server to ask questions. We appreciate not being rushed at restraunts, but this felt more like being ignored."

  • " We decided to visit Bombay Club with a bunch of relatives after our Lion King show, and figured that since they've never been here, and we're veterans of Bombay Club, that we may share the experience with them. We reached at 10:30pm, and despite the kitchen closing at 11:00pm, they did not seem to rush us or any other patrons in the house. Surprisingly, there were still quite a few tables still dining at the restaurant. I ordered the veggie Thali, which is always amazing, and accompanied that with the Kashmiri Naan. My wife always keeps ordering the Daal Makhani as she's in love with it. The rest of the folks ordered the Paneer Tikka which was amazing, and the Club Thaali which was well received also."

  • "The Bombay Club has been one of my wife's and my favorite restaurants for years, and it keeps getting better, just like a fine wine. The food is terrific, creative and beautifully presented. The service is attentive without becoming overbearing. Needs are anticipated and handled expertly. The occasional presence of a piano player only heightens the ambiance. We have never had anything less than a wonderful and rewarding dining experience at Bombay Club, and it has become one of our favorite DC restaurants."

  • "A first class restaurant with excellent food and service."

  • "Its a good place to dine. But check the bill before you pay. They charged us for extra bottle of wine and when asked they took it out from the bill. Except that, everything else was great. Taste was as authentic as it could be for a balance indian taste."

  • "This is a place I visited at least twice a month while living in DC. Simply the best Indian cuisine in Dc, by far!"
    Dined on 7/21/2014
  • "Wonderful experience. This was our second visit and it didn't disappoint. We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful piano playing. Food was exceptional...loved it all. We took a friend who loves Indian cuisine and she is quite picky but she was blown away by the authentic cuisine Thank you"

  • "If you like Indian food, but not just any Indian food, but excellent Indian food, this is the place for you!! Plus the service is superb."
    Dined on 7/19/2014
  • "Impeccable service, with excellent attention to detail. Food was really tasty -- and to the pleasant surprise of my guests who were a little hesitant about Indian cuisine. The Bombay Club is always first on my list for a gourmet experience!"
    Dined on 7/19/2014
  • "I've been there couple of times, this time wasn't one of the best. The lamb chops were okay compared to being great the times before and the waiter was a bit "snooty" The ice cream is still phenomenal"
    Dined on 7/19/2014
  • "I love Indian food and always try someplace new when I travel- Bombay Club was recommended by my travel book, and now by me! The service was great, I felt like the center of attention from the moment I walked in the door. Staff was quick with water, menu, and able to clearly explain my few questions about the menu. The atmosphere is elegant but relaxed. The food was outstanding, this is a must-go for me when I'm back in town!"

  • "When we have visitors in town who love good food this is the place that we take them for the best Indian food"
    Dined on 7/18/2014
  • "Ashok and members of his team are consistent in how they present all aspects of the restaurant from the super clean space, pressed tablecloths, superb food presentation, excellent quality and execution in taste. This is THE PLACE for foodies who love ethnic food - Indian Cuisine. Extra perks include the Cobra Coffee, experienced and charming piano player, and calm and collected atmosphere."

  • "This is a charming Indian restaurant in DC - prompt valet paring; we were promptly seated, promptly served by Maria - excellent appetizers - not too spicy; just the right touch; great ambiance! though the restaurant was full and there was a party going on in the other corner, noise levels were contained; we could listen to our children - it was our son's 22nd birthday; pianist Lenny was awesome - he played wonderful music - many oldies and some ColdPlay - couldn't believe that he had 4 kids, 13 grandchildren and 4 great grand children! Our host was very busy since it was dinner time - told me that they also own Rasikas - frankly, I found more value here than at Rasikas! I would strongly recommend this to anyone!"

  • "We come to DC every 3 months from San Antonio and we never fail to eat at the Bombay Club. We have never been disapointed. When they changed from spinach to kale in the Chat, we never missed the switch. The wait staff is even better than the food, and the food is wounderful."

  • "Wonderful place to celebrate a friend's graduation. Service friendly and impeccable. Delicous food for every palate (not too spicy to very spicy). Our first but not last Indian food experience"
    Dined on 7/12/2014
  • "We have been going to the Bombay Club for many years and it does not ever disappoint. We had a lovely meal of vegtable Thalay, trout, duck, lamb with vegtable side dishes of okra and black lentils, all very good Indian fare. The drinks are generous and the wine list has reasonable restaurant priced selections. The service and ambiance here are huge selling points and a location near Metro and the White House make this a bit of a celeb hot spot. But the service is spot on for us regular folks as well. Try the week end brunch, excellent and elegant buffet."

  • "Only problem was that the kitchen sent out the food on a large tray, where it sat on an adjoining table for a couple of minutes before the very busy waiter could distribute it to our table."
    Dined on 7/12/2014
  • "Had a wonderful evening with my husband and three children. Our waiter was especially lovely very attentive and clearly liked children. He had a grandson the same age as our youngest daughter. The food was beautiful and the mango creme brûlée was the best I had ever eaten. Our only problem is that we will be unable to return as we reside in Ireland."

  • "I took a friend to lunch for her birthday and we both totally enjoyed our experience. The wait staff was very pleasant and attentive – even taking a picture for us of the two of us together. The food was not only delicious but well presented."

  • "We had a family dinner after a long day of walking and visiting DC museums. The staff was very attentive and made everyone in the party comfortable. The team was attentive, available when needed and very courteous. I have dined here on multiple occasions while visiting DC and every time the team does not disappoint us. Keep up the great work!"

  • "Bombay Club is a great place for a business lunch where you need to be able to talk and hear each other AND have a great dining experience. Several of us make a point of revisiting Bombay club for dinner on a regular basis because of the great food, service, and overall experience. Don't hesitate to ask for suggestions!"

  • "Exceeded expectations which were sky high from reading other reviews. One of the finest Indian restaurants in the U.S. For sure and we have dined at some of the best places from coast to coast - just try it!"

  • "Bombay Club is a wonderful Indian restaurant with great food, a luxurious setting, and attentive service. We have eaten there many times and the food is reliably excellent. The spices are subtle and do not overwhelm the very high quality main ingredients. The tandoori scallops appetizer is particularly pleasing."

  • "I arranged for a dinner for my company's summer intern to have a nice dinner with his girlfriend, as he has been a huge asset to us. I called ahead for payment arrangements and was delighted with how easy it was to arrange. He said the whole experience was amazing and that the food was spectacular. Ronnie was their server, and they said he was excellent. Thank you for making the evening so great!"

  • "My husband and I went here after reading several reviews and we were not dissapointed! The food, ambience and service were all wonderful. We both ordered the "thalis" and I think that is a great way to go because it is a small taste of everything. We finished dinner with the Cobra coffee which I can't stop thinking about. It is flambeéd with scotch and orange peel, wow. All in all- go and enjoy!"

  • "I love Indian food. The portion were a bit small but the tastes were huge!! They even make a special birthday cocktail if you want to surprise the birthday boy or girl!"
    Dined on 6/29/2014
  • "We have been going to Bombay Club on occasional mid-day Sundays for the past ten years. Sadly for us, the past several visits have been disappointing. The selection and overall tastiness of the buffet offerings is well below the level of even one or two years ago, and not improving. The staff look great, but are losing the polish and poise of years past."

  • "I wanted to plan a surprise bday dinner date for my Fiance and I chose this place just by trusting on the reviews. To my surprise it was more romantic and wonderful dinner place as mentioned in the reviews. My Girlfriend was flattered by the ambiance, live piano, food, service etc.. I would like to personally Thank Bombay Club for making my surprise a Hit..."

  • "A great meal out for a special occasion. Located very centrally and with outstanding decor. The live piano player was a very nice addition. Food was very good - the paneer tandoori and scallop starters in particular as well as a good wine selection."

  • "The Bombay Club continues to be one of my favorite fine dining experiences in Washington! The Thalis are delicious and beautifully presented. The staff is professional and discrete."
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "We have been to the Bombay Club many times but mostly on special occasions. We believe they are a very upscale restaurant with old world charm and courteous and friendly staff, plus the best Indian food in DC. I only gave them 4 stars on the food this time because my husband didn't feel that their Chicken Biryani was up to their best. Everything else was fabulous. I, however, do wish there was such a thing as a dress code. I find it offensive that people come to such an elegant restaurant in jeans and flip flops, the same thing they would wear to McDonald's, this of course is not the restaurants fault."
