Diner Reviews
  • "We wanted a fine dining experience while in New Orleans and made the mistake of choosing the Bombay Club. Although the food was OK, the service was the worst. Everything was slow. Arrived at 7:15. Each course took forever. It was pushing 9 when the main course finally arrived. the waitress said she was sorry but we could have desserts for free. The bill came quickly. We were charged for our "free" desserts. the waitress said sorry she just meant that the five of us could have one dessert to share. We left around 10:00 without dessert.I love New Orleans and all the wonderful restaurants but the Bombay Club was disappointing in so many ways and the low (and very expensive) point of what otherwise was a wonderful trip."

  • "Very good escape from Bourbon Street madness. Tucked away with interior courtyard dining space for alfresco without the street noise."

  • "I took my daughter here for her 19th birthday. It was an amazing experience. The entire team was relaxed and fun. The food was outstanding and the music set the entire scene. This is our new favorite place."

  • "Loved the decor, great for casual and dressed. We were there to celebrate renewing our vows, we had a great table tucked in a niche', all 4 of us ordered something different (lamb, chicken, seafood) everything was excellent. Not only was the food great, our server was the best ! I would highly recommend putting the Bombay Club on your "must do" list if visiting the area. These New Yorkers will definitely dine here again our next time down south !"

  • "Very crapped Seem like a hole in the wall with five star prices"

  • "A great little quiet spot just off Bourbon Street. A little dark inside, but bar service & redfish special each were excellent. Live piano a nice touch, and doesn't result in overpowering noise level."

  • "Set - Mardi Gras 2014, spiked heels, cobbled roads, a poorly lit sign and a tucked away restaurant in a very dark alley, leading to a darker restaurant. Inside – Guy playing jazz on a piano in a dark corner, round tables with split open, overstuffed leather or vinyl chairs, that left the ladies hosiery either ripped and/or their legs scratched. Our Server – over zealous & a bit ambitious. Knew very little about the menu, but promised the world. Appetizers, Cocktails, Entree, & Dessert - Same ole, Same ole. Then again perhaps it was special; sadly we couldn’t get comfortable enough in our seats to really know."

  • "My wife and I went here on St. Patty's Day weekend. While it was busy as expected the live music was great. I had the spinach and lobster stuffed Flounder-amazing! Our waiter Tim was very attentive and knowledgeable of all the menu items and gave great recommendations."

  • "Been coming to Bombay for years. Ambience fantastic and quality of food and drink outstanding. This time we found the service very lacking both for dining and enjoying a cocktail. Problems with getting before dinner drink at bar, throughout dinner. Tried again for after dinner drinks couple nights later---left without being served or even acknowledged. Perhaps this local spot doesn't want anyone but Locals."

  • "for bar and music (jazz) music lovers not for gourmet food"

  • "The food was incredible. The scallops were cooked perfectly-soft and sweet w/ the perfect pan sear to the top. The mussels and sauce were iver the top. My daughter may never eat mussels anywhere again except here. The steaks were buttery and cooked to the desired temp. The service was attentive w/o smothering. The music was perfect and really made the ambience of the dining area that much more of a French Quarter experience. My only critique was that I wasnt too wowed by our after dinner drinks. I was wanting something more to cap off the night. That said, that will not hold me back from eating here again."

  • "Cucumber Martinis! Wow! Great food, great atmosphere! A real gem when you want away from the hustle bustle of Bourbon St. and the snootiness of some the other nearby restaurants!"

  • "If you enjoy martini's- check it out! Over 50 kinds and as many unique mixed drinks. Awesome food! Private booths with curtains for romantic experience and tables of varying sizes for groups. We enjoyed a Louisana crab fondue for an appetizer. Our chosen entrees were a shepard's pie with amazing beef and sea scallops. One of the best places we ate on our trip!!!"

  • "Went to New Orleans for our anniversary. Wasn't sure where to go for dinner so we looked at several different places before choosing Bombay Club. So glad we picked this place. The food was a little pricey but most of it was delishes! The automsphere was perfect. Low lighting, very romantic, and they had a great musician singing soft Jazz that night. This was the perfect date for our last night in New Orleans."

  • "I've dined here a couple times over the past couple years on trips to New Orleans. It never disappoints. It is a nice escape from the "everything-fried" cuisine that is so often the South. The New Orleans shrimp and rack of lamb are delicious."

  • "I was very pleased with the food and service at this restaurant - both were above average. The martini bar is exceptional, too."

  • "We were in town for Mardi Gras but this place was definitely not ready. They were "dressed down" for Mardi gras, no linens or place settings at the table. My boyfriend ordered the lamb (6/10) and I ordered the stuffed flounder (2/10). After waiting for what seemed like forever, our food came out. However, my fish was partially raw! I sent it back and by the time it hit the table my bf was done eating. The manager and server were very accommodating. They comped most of the check but it was still a disappointing experience. The meals only saving grace was the appetizer (mussles in a cream sauce with bacon). Had they been hot when they reached the table they would have been ah-mazing!"

  • "Our experience at the Bombay club was excellent thanks to our waiter Tim, who turned the night around for us. We started off by getting a cocktail at the bar before our reservation. Once we were seated, we were rudely approached by our waitress. We felt extremely rushed and unwelcomed seeing that she asked us what we wanted to order after five minutes of being seated. We were not even offered to look at a wine list. We finally requested that we get a new server, and that is when the experience turned around. Our new servers name was Tim and he was awesome! Everything from the service, wine, lamb and scallops, and dessert cocktails made the evening one to remember!"

  • "Bombay has a great martini and wine list. It is very nice but not stuffy. Usually a piano player . Food is very good with a somewhat limited menu but they do it well."

  • "Only criticism would be to vary the menu more in terms of food it's a little limited. But the dishes were excellent and the martini list is extraordinary."

  • "Came to New Orleans to check out the good food. Super surprised to find The Bombay Club. The food was wonderful and the piano player very entertaining. We enjoyed wonderful piano playing and a delicious meal. Our server Ellen was fun, informative and right on time with our next round. She was very helpful in my menu selection as I am allergic to shellfish. Her and the great Chef worked it out and I loved loved loved my meal. Ellen made my night out super fun!"

  • "The food was absolutely fabulous. The calamari was light and smooth...very, very fresh! The wedge salad was soo crisp and refreshing. The gouda grits were the best I have ever had and was just as good the next day. The bbq shrimp are definitely much better the day after. The lamb and mashed potatoes were dreamy according to my partner. We capped the evening off with some of the best creme' brulee we have ever tasted. Definitely a must during your ventures in the Big Easy!"

  • "Highlights include: User friendly website, nice selection of wine, tasty yet reasonably priced food (including at least one vegetarian entree), an elegant ambiance (private & romantic spaces, as well as a secluded courtyard), live music every evening, and good service. Concerns: Lighting was so low that even our server had to hold a candle up to the menu to read ... and we had exceptional service for the first half (+) of our meal, but suddenly felt abandoned. Even after asking if we could see a dessert menu, we never got one. While the waiter advised us what was on for dessert, her never returned to see if we wished to order. Had he been busy, this might have been more tolerable, but it was not busy at all. Unfortunate, but not serious."

  • "Wanted a unique date place with some nice night life and good food. Bombay came through on all fronts. I would recommend though, if you can request a booth do that. I didn't know they existed but looked a lot cooler than the regular tables."

  • "The food was not very good, and the prices were extreme. The wine selections were poor and again very expensive. The private dining tables were nice, but the place needs a lot of updated work (painting, etc). The piano player was nice to listen to while we ate. The place itself was very dark. Too many other good choices in the French Quarter to ever consider going back."

  • "If you want to avail yourself to an Epicurean delight, sans purjury i can recommend The Bombay Club. The ragout of par excellace service, the delectable and varied menu selections are only surpassed by the velvet hand of romantic ambiance. Reserve a "Cheater's Booth" to embellish your dining experience. The Bombay Club is a New Orleans treasure!"

  • "food good, once they choose to wait on you, service is good. Music is good. Make sure to ask if there is a parade or activity nearby, they won't tell you unless you ask. They didn't tell us, 3 hours to get a cab due to a parade nearby they failed to mention. Ruined a fun night."

  • "I've passed this place dozens of times and I've always wanted to eat here. I took my best friend for her birthday and we absolutely LOVED it! I suggest getting a booth and if you can scoop up Helen as your server. She was very helpful with walking us through the menu, specials and extensive Martini menu."

  • "My husband and I went here for our anniversary. They were very accommodating, we were running 30 minutes behind due to traffic. My first reaction when entering the restaurant was, "I should have made reservations somewhere else". I thought that it was a more fancier restaurant based on the pictures online. My husband said not to worry about the atmosphere and to just enjoy being out with him. The man on the piano was to loud and we could barely see our menus because it was so dark. The waiter was nice and somewhat knowledgeable. I order the flounder stuffed with Maine lobster and my husband ordered the 12 oz steak. They both were good. Overall, I wouldn't eat there again."

  • "I wanted to take my wife somewhere special for our last night of vacation in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Somewhere I'd received a tip that Bombay Club was a romantic spot for a quiet candlelit dinner and I took the shot. OUTSTANDING!!!! Drinks (martinis in this case) and food were fantastic. Service was just fast enough, giving us some time to visit between courses. I look forward to going back to New Orleans, and one definite stop will be the Bombay Club."
