  • "We were impressed with Bolt from the time we walked in the service and food was on point. We would recommend this place for any couple looking for a night out. I have nothing but good things to say for Bolt and plan to return in the future"

  • "When your foodies like me and my husband, you tend to see a lot of restaurants come and go in Raleigh. We were excited to try Bolt , and thought his birthday would be an excellent time. My husband's steak was juicy and cooked as ordered. We loved the polenta (fried grit cake) with Marsala mushroom cream. I had the scallop entree which was cooked to perfection. However, be warned that the entree consists of only 3 scallops. That may be a bit pricey for some at $25. It came with a sauce and steamed veggies. My husband ordered the creme brulee which was a great choice if you want something light after a heavy meal. The service was attentive and our waiter made it a very special night for my husband."

  • "Not very good food. Too salty. Tastes like food you would get at Chili's, but of course much more expensive. Nice location though."

  • "We had the French Onion soup, beef Carpaccio and sea bass. French onion soup tasted great, but was somewhat small and virtually impossible to eat (it is served inside of a carved out onion). Beef Carpaccio was very good. Sea bass special was outstanding. Our server was a disappointment. Friendly, yes. But she was young and unnecessarily self-confident. Didn't know the details of several meals. She was being shadowed by a trainee and that was a shame for the bad example of great service at a somewhat upscale restaurant."

  • "We came here for my birthday and it also happened to be Raleigh restaurant week. The only thing I didn't like was that the full menu is not available during restaurant week. I had a few people at my table wanting to order just one thing instead of a full course meal; however, this was not possible. The food tasted delicious. I had a steak which was tender and full of flavor. The potatoes that came with the steak were decent, and the dessert was very rich. Overall taste of food was great. Service lacked quite a bit as we did not have constant refills and they didn't know which guest had which entree for food."

  • "My husband and I are new to Raleigh and wanted to take advantage of restaurant week. The ambiance of this restaurant was very hip. The noise level perfect. It was busy but not mobbed. The menu choice for restaurant week was good. The food was delicious! The service was unimpressive. We were served our salad before our wine arrived. We were rushed through our meal. There was plenty of help on the floor, but waitress appeared distracted and Inattentive. I believe the chief is excellent but the training and coordination of the waitstaff needs work!!"

  • "We visited Bolt Bistro & Bar for the 1st time during Restaurant Week (Aug 2014). First, that night was the busiest I have ever seen downtown Raleigh. Took 30 minutes to find parking. Being Restaurant Week, the menu was not the regular menu but the selection was still good. Both of us order a steak, one NY Strip, one Ribeye. And we both decided our steaks were the best we have ever had since moving to Raleigh, 17 years ago - includes comparison to Ruth Chris, JK Steak House, and Sullivans Steak House. The side dish of potatoes were wonderful as well. Add lobster bisque to start with and a nice wine selection for a wonderful night out. Thank you Bolt Bistrol & Bar"

  • "My brother, wife and I went during restaurant week to check out something new and were very satisfied! The food, wine, and service was outstanding. I would highly recommend the filet mignon. Great spot downtown."

  • "We had a sensational dinner. Our server Chelsea was incredible. We all enjoyed our meals especially the brussel sprouts. Great recommendations from Chelsea. The portions were perfect and the meals were delicious. We started with the lobster bisque and the Napoleon Salad. Then we had the filet, the salmon and the winner was the huge pork chop with sweet potato puree. Yum! Dessert mousse and fruits and banana pudding. What a way to end the afternoon. It seemed as if every one there came by to see if we were enjoying our meal. Even the owner came by to thank us. We will definitely be back."

  • "I am so happy we chose Bolt for our romantic date out during Restaurant Week. Both the bartender and server in training suggested the pork chop to me. I am SO happy I took their advice and ordered the pork chop. It was mouth-watering, perfectly cooked and seasoned, and moist throughout the entire thing. It was the biggest pork chop I have ever ordered at a restaurant and I almost ate the entire thing. It came with mashed sweet potatoes, and they were yummy, too! My husband got the New York Strip steak, which was also amazingly delicious. We started out with the crab cake, and that, too, was amazing! I would suggest anyone go here. It's a bit on a pricey side, but well worth it. Lastly, the servers were incredible! Can't wait to go again."

  • "The polenta was a big hit at the table, the brussels sprouts were delicious and the Mahi Tuna was well seared on the outside and perfectly pink in the middle. We were seated upstairs and 3 of us felt that it was too hot. One of my friends came having read the menu online and saw 'berries and cream' as one of the options of the package deal that comes with Raleigh Restaurant Week. When we got there, the menu said 'berries and chocolate moose' so she asked if they could make her what she saw on the online menu. They brought her a bowl of blueberries with nothing on them... she felt insulted and the manager made it worse by trying to tell her that it would be difficult for the kitchen to make cream..."

  • "We dined as part of Raleigh Restaurant Week. Each of the 4 of us had something different and everyone thought theirs was excellent. The pork chop was thick, juicy and tender, the best that I've had at a restaurant. Our server was excellent. He knew the menu and the wine list well. He also had a great sense of humor. I'd highly recommend trying Bolt."

  • "Our server Jessica was superb, a gem! Explained all entrees, detailed but not too over the top. She was friendly, made suggestions when asked, followed up with each in party of 4, not rushed and we were there during restaurant week. Our dinner experiance was super! We even stopped back later for another drink and sat outside."

  • "Visited during restaurant week on a date night, 3 course meal $30. The salads were both excellent, well presented, and tasty. The manager said the short rib was exceptional so we both ordered it. In spite if never liking au gratin potatoes I went with it. It was tender, juicy, no knife needed but aside from that it was basically forgetful. No flavor was infused, it was just meat. There was supposed to be horseradish but neither me or my date could taste any. She had the same assessment as I did. Desserts were both good. Two good courses surrounding an average one. I ordered a bottle of red wine but every bottle in the cellar had been chilled. It took quite a while to warm up and open up. I'd give them a 2nd chance. Great outside seats."

  • "We dined at Bolt Bistro during Restaurant Week. It was our first time there. Our food was outstanding. Our service, however was less than notable. First off, when Adam brought poured our wine without offering a sample. He also poured into glasses that were on a helpers tray and not on the table. He never offered the cork for inspection. This is not the way to handle wind in a fine dining establishment... and he was training a new server! Also, plates were taken away before everyone at the table was finished which should never be done! Adam also overheard, and joined in our conversations on several occasions. Again, I will say that our food was very good and we will be back. I just hope we don't have Adam as our server again."

  • "We started off at Mo's Diner and left quickly after the manager was extremely rude. Walked over to Bolt and had an amazing experience. The service and food were absolutely perfect. I took my parents and this was their first time there and they cannot wait to go back! Everything was top notch. Loved the atmosphere."

  • "Had a great experience during the restaurant week in Raleigh. Food was outstanding and the drinks were delicious. We had a party of 4 that split the order between 2 salmon and 2 filet dishes. The taste was incredible. Dessert was amazing as well. The chocolate torte was tasty and same with the bread pudding. Would highly recommend this establishment and will be returning in 2 weeks to explore the menu further. I hope this helps!"

  • "First time at Bolt. It was a very enjoyable experience. The food was great. The steak was just a little overdone, but honestly that was at least as much my ordering as anything else. It was still very good, and the tuna was excellent. The place has a nice layout. The wait staff was excellent. We'll definitely go back."

  • "Amazing restaurant and I enjoyed it better than when the Mint occupied the space. We went here for my wife's Birthday. The food was especially good but what really made the evening was our waiter, Darrin. Perfect service without overdoing it so we could have this intimate dining experience. We had the Chef's special for the main course which was the lobster with scallops. Perfect. For an appetizer you must try the crab cakes. Dinner was complete by having the special bread pudding with caramel and chocolate. Don't wait to go here!"

  • "We had a wonderful evening and brought a friend along who had never been here before. We always enjoy the patio and had excellent service. Our server was Adam and he was quite attentive without hovering. He knew the menu well and was very upbeat and personable. The food was excellent and the downtown ambience entertaining and vibrant. A wonderful way to spend a Saturday night."

  • "This restaurant was trendy and vibrant. The menu was broad with a variety of choices to suit everyone's taste. We chose a special (Chilean Sea Bass $34) that was outstanding in every respect including a crab cake and sweet potato puree. My wife had the short ribs that were prepared to perfection and the best we have had in this area. The wine choices by the glass were good, but I thought pricey for the 4 oz. pour. The service was excellent and timely. I would recommend this restaurant to foodies, but remembering that the prices were moderate to high for this area."

  • "A bar yes... Resturant not even close. Loud like a bar not at all what you would expect when your paying 50-75 dollars per person. They advertise valet parking but it's non existent .. Food is ok, but don't expect anything more than a disappointment ... They don't even bring you bread to nibble on while they try and get things organized. It must be the location... Much like the list preceding Bolt.. I doubt this will last ... Very disappointing"

  • "This restaurant is right in downtown Raleigh. Not the easiest parking location but worth the search for a great dining experience. Unfortunately, the night we dined (before a performance at Progress Energy Center), the cocktail crowd was heavy and noisy. Dining could be improved by some sort of partition between the bar area and dining room. Otherwise, everything is great including superb service. Menu was truly outstanding with excellent appetizers and entrees. Highly recommend the onion soap, lobster bisque, and the seafood dishes. Hard to find gourmet seafood that says I am really fresh!"

  • "We were seated immediately when we showed up for our reservation and that was the peak of the service for the evening. I sat on the outside edge of the booth and could barely hear the waiter all night despite an average noise level all night. He didn't know the draft beer selection or the specials for the evening. He repeated our drink orders back incorrectly, then came back to ask again what one of us wanted to drink. He did the same thing after taking our meal order. He had to come back and ask what 2 of the 4 of us had ordered. We never got our salads or crab cakes, yet they still showed up on our bills. The food that we did get was delicious, and I would come back for that. I'd just ask to be in a different server's section if I do."

  • "This was our first time dining at Bolt. We chose to sit outside which was very pleasant with an active street scene and street music on a Saturday night. The experience was very enjoyable, the food very good and the service friendly although they have a way to go in this category to be first class. Highly recommended for an informal dinner with a full menu of good food."

  • "Our visit was while we were attending the 4th of July celebration. We love the food at Bolt & didn't want the food truck fare offered outside. I was surprised to see the menu was different then the usual, offering hamburgers, fries & shrimp tacos, I was not disappointed with the elevated street fare. The table started with fried calamari (a bit oily at the bottom) & the ahi tuna both so yummy. I ordered the shrimp tacos they were Awesome! Hubby got Shrimp & grits and our daughter had the lobster mac & cheese. We finished by sharing a key lime pie too sweet for me but the family ate it up. Bolt always offers fresh food cooked perfectly served by a very good and friendly waitstaff. We all enjoyed dinner & the fireworks that followed."

  • "I had a difficult time finding an open restaurant in the triangle on a Monday and so close to the 4th of July. So kudos right off the bat to this place. Bolt Bistro cuisine for me was an eclectic spin on modern American fare. Yes they have steaks and chops, but I really don't see this place as a 'steakhouse'. The location and ambiance of this spot is outstanding. Right in the hear of downtown with a modern, open feel. The wait staff and especially the hostess were extremely friendly and their management was accommodating and welcomed us on a Monday with open arms. I really enjoyed their bar and wine list, with local brews and interesting takes on some red wine, their entrees were unique and delicious."
