A word from Boitson's Restaurant
An old storefront in Kingston's Historic Uptown District, a simple sliver of a space, has received a sumptuous update by its new tenant: Boitson's Restaurant. The menu is American, refined, yet comfortable from Trout Meuniere to Fried Chicken. The dining area is a carefully considered homage to both the upscale bistro and the "old man" bar. In good weather, the back deck, with views of the Catskills, is another of Boitson's many secrets awaiting to be discovered.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Great food, service and very welcoming atmosphere. Never had a bad experience, day or night. Wonderful hideaway in Uptown Kingston. Only wish it was closer to where I live now."

  • "We were in the area from MA for a college visit at Bard and Boitson's was definitely a highlight. The menu included farm fresh and local produce, with several creative choices for my vegetarian daughter. We will be going back on college move in weekend!"

  • "This is now one of two favorite places in the 'hood, or across the river from my hood. We love it so; and last night for the first time we ate at the bar, and loved it; schmoozy fellow diners inhaling big beef and lemon tarts, great cocktail, love the bartender and we shared food that was as good as always!!!! and affordable"

  • "This is hands down our favorite local date night place. The food is consistently well prepared, and the menu is imaginative without being pretentious. The fried chicken is as close to perfect as I've ever had. The gnocchi with crawfish was a delicious combination. The raw bar usually has several tasty oyster options. It's just good food. Equally worthy of note is the cocktail menu. Service is well paced. The dining room is a little tight, but that's just something you've got to accept with such a popular place. Same goes for the noise level, which can be a little high, but doesn't impede conversation. The decor is warm and swanky at the same time. Dining on the deck provides a really nice alternative, with an amazing view. Fantastic place."

  • "Boitson's is my personal favorite Kingston area restaurant and I go there for every special occasion. It was the site of my wedding dinner March 30, 2013, so it was the only choice for my 1st anniversary dinner. I have never been disappointed in the food or service at Boitson's and look forward to many enjoyable dinners there for many years to come."

  • "This is one of our "regular" places, and quite frankly the best place to eat in Kingston. Wonderful cuisine and an always-great menu simply and smartly done. The experience is always excellent!"

  • "we love this restaurant, great food, vibe, wine, cocktails, servers, our go to place for yummy burgers, salads, the best fried chicken north of the Mason Dixon line. Can't miss, and super prices too. Even the bread and butter is good"

  • "The wait for our food after we ordered was unbearable (close to an hour). The server was apologetic, explaining it was a small kitchen and everyone had come at once. And, the kitchen belatedly sent out a comped appetizer (which arrived at the same time as our food). Not sure why the table next to us, which arrived after us, got their food and finished eating before we got our food. And, when our food arrived, the cheeseburger didn't have cheese (oops). All in all, a very forgettable (and a bit regrettable) of a dining experience. Also, the restaurant is dimly lit, making it difficult to read the menu and to see the food."

  • "We have eaten here a couple of times & the food & service always very good. They change the fish dish on the main menu often which can be a little disappionting if you realy liked one of the dishes. The seating area is long & thin which is not ideal for large partys & it runs parrallel with the bar again a bit of a squash, but strangely this is what gives it the atmosphere. Its advisable to book because it always appears to be busy. In general a great place to go for dinner."

  • "Love this place, my go-to place for everything, great fried chicken, burgers, salads, fries, and more, and the best cocktails in the world!!!"

  • "Very good again, though my vegetarian rice and eggplant stew was so so; spicy and not all that interesting and a pricey $18; the fried chicken and burgers and salmon are far superior. Catskill cocktail always great"

  • "My husband and I were looking to try a new restaurant on Saturday night and thanks to OpenTable we were able to quickly get one of the few remaining reservations for Boitson's. We had heard very positive buzz about the restaurant and I'm pleased to say we weren't disappointed. The drinks were generous in size and so were the portions for both appetizers and meal. We both chose the grass fed rib-eye for the main course and it was one of the most tender, flavorful steaks we'd had in a long time. The service was excellent and we felt well attended to. The ambiance is lovely, but due to the small size of the location and the bar, the volume was a little loud. You definitely need a reservation. We'll definitely be going back!"

  • "although the food was great - I have to wonder about the classification of certain items as gluten free. order the cauliflower wings (delicious) and the steak frites (also delicious). And although both were classified as gluten free, I wonder if both of the fried items were cooked in oil in which they also cook floured items. Within an hour of eating, I had a very severe gluten reaction, and this really dampered an otherwise great experience."

  • "My boyfriend and I went to Boitson's for Valentines day. I ordered the fried chicken which was really tasty. My boyfriend ordered the steak frites which was also delicious. I would highly recommend going here. Pricing was comparable to NYC. A bit on the higher side but the food was good."

  • "Local inspired drinks, unusual but awesome appetizers where unlikely foods are paired as well as great spices and flavors on main course offerings, make boiston's a must go to restaurant!!! Either go early or make a reservation - you can wait at the bar - all are worth it!"

  • "Hands down the best restaurant in Kingston, NY, with an ambiance reminiscent of a really good bistro in a chic major metropolis. The menu is also typical, with steak frites, grilled wild salmon, Hudson Valley vegetables and the like, all the stuff that is predictable around here but also predictably top notch, in this case. They have a vodka-based cocktail called The Catskill that washes down like candy as well as an equally delicious Kingston Mint. They change their menu, of course, and my Brit boyfriend says: Bring back the Beef Wellington! Service and decor are spot on."

  • "We love this place, 3x visited in 3 weeks; love the staff, great cocktails and wine, super burgers with a pile of crisp fries, great ribs, and so on; we haven't had dessert yet because we're always so full and great lively atmosphere. our go to place for the best fried chicken also!"

  • "My husband and I have been to Boitson's on numerous occasions and it is definately our favorite local spot. The food is amazing...the staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the specials menu is constantly changing to fit the season and area. The cocktails are innovative and worth a trip to the bar even if you aren't going for dinner. I've never been When its not packed which isn't hard because the place is tiny. Would recommend making a reservation."

  • "I love this place; went back a second time in the same week and almost ate the same thing but had a cocktail instead of wine; and had the same waitress. this place is GREAT, cozy, neighborhood favorite, busy busy bar, enough choices on the menu from burgers to salads, trout and more. Haven't had dessert but who could after those great fries!!! And prices are so reasonable; a must go to when in the hood."

  • "I went to Boitson's with a gentleman I am getting to know. My brother and I have a 1939 Buick and during the 2013 New Year's celebration, we went for the first time to Boitson's and fell in love with it. The bartender, the owner(s), and the wait staff was very friendly and pleasing. When my friend and I left, he was very impressed with the food, the price, and that we could actually hear each other and be near each other without feeling cramped or confined. I would recommend Boitson's to anyone who is looking to dine for a low price and eat like you paid a high price. The food and atmosphere are complimentary to one another and people need to check it out!"

  • "We've never been here and what a great neighborhood gem, lively, outstanding, good food, good prices, great drinks and people kept coming in; in my little town, it's dead by 10, this was hopping; we were the oldest or almost but who cares. We can't wait to go back"

  • "We adored birthday dinner at Boitson's, attended by ourselves and one other couple. As a gluten-free vegetarian, I have a hard time finding places fit for a special occasion. Boitson's menu truly has something for everyone, including the GF veggie, GF carnivore, and two omnivores at our table. Cocktails were great, and I'm still dreaming of those cauliflower wings... Service was fine. Indifferent but very competent. Definitely a new favorite spot. Be sure to make reservations, as the place is very small and very crowded."

  • "There's a nice mix of prices on the menu, so even for those on a budget, you can find a good meal. And there's comfort food galore - mac and cheese, fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy…this is the place to come when you need a taste of home."

  • "We've been happy with Boitson's. The food is consistently good, and the menu encompasses comfort food and dishes that are somewhat more elaborate; we've been pleased with both. It can be noisy, and the bar always seems to be full. Boitson's doesn't pretend to be more that what it is, and always seems like a comfortable option for us."

It's a little bit of a small space but I think that makes is feel more intimate and I like that. Great selection of items to order. Gluten free options too. Definitely recommend!!!!"

  • "Dining at Boitson's was one of my favorite all around evenings in upstate NY this year. I was celebrating and it felt intimate but lively. The service was superb and all or food spectacular. I can recommend short ribs, fried chicken, even the house salad was hearty and yummy. The atmosphere is creative, well curated and well lit. I'm looking forward to going back again and again in 2014!"
