Diner Reviews
  • "Not my first time eating at this restaurant; I seem to fall in love with the food every time I drop in. This was my first experience with brunch here but just as appetizing as lunch/dinner. Will definitely come back and dine again. P.S. Portions could have been a bit larger"

  • "I consider myself a regular... I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place."

  • "Combination of Colombian & American. They offer two side dishes with entrees so the table space can get a bit crowded. Casual dress code, great time."

  • "Excellent dining experience. Will recommend others to try this place. Eating here made me happy because people forget that you can find good food in other boroughs. Children's menu had plenty of choices."

  • "Bogata is just simply stated - a FANTASTIC place to go. I've been there several times and have never been disappointed. Our waitress Johanna was so sweet, accommodating and upbeat! I ordered a delicious skirt steak and had some special requests to due to dietary restrictions....EVERY request was accommodated!! The food is delicious and fresh! Service is quick. From the time you're greeted....until the time you leave, it's a wonderful experience. I highly recommend this place!!"

  • "We bring all visitors to Brooklyn to Bogota, and we also meet Brooklyn pals there, especially for brunch. The selection of Latin American/Caribbean/South American breakfasts is just plain fabulous! The service is always good and the restaurant is comfortable and fun."

  • "Nice place to have good latin food. Little disappointed in the service. The busboy put his fingers on full shot glass to remove without first asking which was a turnoff. The music and ambiance were good. would go back."

  • "Went with hubby and another couple to dinner this past Saturday night. We started off with a pitcher of margaritas which was very good and strong. We shared the nachos that were very tasty though not as hot as we would have liked. I had the fish tacos with a side of coconut rice and sweet plantains. Every bite was delicious. My friends all enjoyed everything they ate. We would all recommend and come back in a heartbeat."

  • "My niece is visting from North Carolina for the summer and she has not had Latin food in the past 2 years since moving. My cousin and niece was first timers at Bogata and they absolutely LOVED THE FOOD. We had a great time there and my niece wants to come back before she goes back to North Carolina."

  • "My second time coming to bogota and it was amazing... the staff and especially the food was soooo good. I enjoyed the coconut mussels so much.. and the fish tacos is a must try."

  • "This was my third time at Bogota. The food is always delicious, when in doubt go with the Arroz con pollo; amazing. The Colombian platter is a nice variety and excellent as well. We started with the empanada sampler and bean dip sampler, both as expected. Service was solid but not great but we were not in any sort of rush so we couldn't have cared less. Will go back very soon."

  • "An enormous menu with lots of choices, reasonable prices and a lively atmosphere. All five of us were delighted with our meals. The waiter was friendly without being overbearing."
    Dined on 6/23/2014
  • "Waiter was inattentive. Didn't get our drinks until after our meal had arrived (waiter did not come by between drink orders, appetizer, and serving of meal) and that was only after we had to ask for what had amounted to the third time that night for drinks."

  • "Went for brunch on Father's Day. Had the shrimp cerviche & Caribbean breakfast. Everything was delicious. We tried the morcilla. My mom makes the best. This was one was good. Some of the islands in the Caribbean make it better, but the best can be found in Dominica. The waitress was friendly, the service was exceptional. I have been there 2x b4 for brunch. I hope to revisit for dinner. Wo pa Arepa."

  • "This was *delicious* -- the pernil, the sangria, the arroz con pollo, the flan, everything was steeped in flavor (and the pernil, in particular, tasted like it had been sitting in delicious marinade for hours). And the waitress was friendly, the host was very understanding about my reservation being HALF AN HOUR late, and the noise level totally acceptable for hearing my dining companion. I wasn't on top of my neighbor, though the bar was going wild over the World Cup -- I could hear my dining pal just fine, and the excitement and happiness in the room just made the food taste better! If that's even possible."

  • "While though we enjoyed the meal, the restaurant was quite busy perhaps because it was Father's Day weekend. Our server was bright, vibrant and full if energy. My family of 11 really enjoyed his service. As always the food is really really good including the mojito!"

  • "Happy to finally make it to Bogota Latin Bistro! I was pleasantly surprised to find a place in Brooklyn that offers well made Colombian food and honors the Colombian culture and its cuisine without compromising its original flavors and sazon. The service was excellent, the drinks were delicious … The Colombia Rum Punch was incredible! Too bad I was driving… This is a kid friendly restaurant and great for uncomplicated, relax, fun gatherings. We are definitely returning very soon to Bogota Latin Bistro."

  • "The food and drinks are pretty good. The atmosphere is a little noisey. My date and I were seated in a family setting where all the tables where joined which could hold about 10 people. So it wasn't much privacy. "

  • "I love the appetizers and the drinks! I wish the main course food wasn't so heavy. But the good is amazing: very fresh and tasty. "

  • "Having been a few times and having ordered a number of different things I can say the food is flavorful and consistently well cooked each time. The cocktails are well made, and the wait staff has been able to articulate the contents of any dish and the tastes of each. I've been on Saturdays a few times and have never felt rushed even during busy hours. Try it. You'll like it. "

  • "I have been here several times and it is consistently great, with new offerings and really interesting drinks. We had a group of six of us and enjoyed cocktails (think mojitos), appetizers (empanadas and more), and main dishes (a variety of dishes from salads, to fish, to meats). This is a family owned and operated place and the quality shows through!"

  • "From the moment I walked in, I loved the ambiance of the restaurant, coupled with the friendly waitstaff who greeted us. We brought outside to their patio section and it felt like I was in a real Spanish city with the decor. The brunch menu was filled with delectable options and I had a hard time narrowing down which I should have because I wanted them all. I decided on Daisy's eggs and it was incredible. Moist and oh so flavorful eggs with tasty chorizo and avocado and a nice spicy kick. Our server, Rachel was very accommodating and friendly too. Overall, a wonderful experience and I cannot wait to try dinner! "

  • "The neighborhood was incredibly busy and many parties wanted tables, the staff managed to get us to our table within ten minutes of our reservation time. If you had seen the crowd you would be impressed, too. Make a reservation! Everyone was friendly, even staff under the most pressure. Our waiter was friendly, informative, solicitous, and efficient. The menu seems overwhelming at first glance, but is actually not as complicated as the design makes you think at first glance. Because of medical reasons we are gluten-free and there were many choices, clearly marked. There are also many choices for vegetarian and vegan diners; and the staff seems to be hip to all of it. The food is big. You get a lot of food. ENJOY! And have dessert!"

  • "Once again, staff is welcoming and friendly. Food is fresh, tasty and filling. Service overall isn't bad but can be spotty. Drinks still take quite a while to arrive (that's more an issue with the bar than the server.) Server was nice but forgot dipping sauce for plantain chips and a few times forgot to replace cracked water glass for my wife and a while to get water refill. We were told upon being seated they were short staffed but customers should never have to be told that. (Yes, the place was packed as always.) Also, timing still needs adjusting as in the past- the main dish arrives before the salads are finished. Still look forward to returning many times in the near future. Also looking forward to their new place opening in the fall."

  • "I come here not infrequently as I live in the neighborhood. This time I brought some friends visiting from Belgium and California. They loved it. We had a variety of everything washed down with caiperinhas. The service was attentive; the food excellent as always; the caiperinhas delicious, and none of us had any room left for dessert. This is my favorite restaurant in Brooklyn."

  • "Thank goodness I made a reservation! Walk ins had an hour and half wait to look forward to. Food was as good as I remember two years ago. The drinks however, could have been a tad stronger. My mom and sister were disappointed with their virgin-like Pina Coladas, and I did not even get a buzz from my mango mojito. Our server seemed to be new and she was a bit overbearing and her tone was condescending. Maybe it just me. Nevertheless, I feel I would have had a better dining experience being served by someone else. Wait was incredibly long to pack our leftovers and as usual seating is cramped. Oh and did I mention the lightly spiked drinks? A couple next to us ordered like 5 rounds of what they were having. And still didn't get loopy."

  • "Wait staff is very good. Johanna is a doll! Ropa vieja was terrible. Not enough meat & plenty of grizzle. Maduros/cheese appetizer was hard & cold. Rice & beans was very bland. "

  • "Bogota is our go to spot when looking for late night good food in Brooklyn. The food takes on traditional Cuban cuisine and gives it a modern twist that's delicious."

  • "Food and service outstanding. Great drink choices. Especially the Sangria options."

  • "We had a negative experience months prior and took some time off from this restaurant. We returned recently, this is probably my 30th time eating here...and sad to say probably my last. Reservations 8pm, we were put on the back patio in the very farthest corner...and shared a menu...yes, we get it you are busy. Drinks 30mins, appetizers 55mins…arepas cold, dry etc…not up to their old standard...server apologized offered to replace and we said no as starving, we had now eaten these. Got our meal...and quality food it was NOT...how do you screw up "Ropa Vieja"? There are plenty of restaurants in Brooklyn now, and many far beyond the taste, quality and service currently at Bogota. I'm sad...as they used to be my go-to favorite…no more."
