A word from Bodrum Turkish Mediterranean
Named after the spectacular port city on the Mediterranean’s Turquoise coast, Bodrum breathes some fresh air into the NYC’s Upper West Side with an ambitious, unique menu of Mediterranean food. With Turkish, Greek, Lebanese, French & Italian culinary influences (just to name a few), Bodrum places brick oven pizza next to mezzes, kebabs next to fish, finding a common thread that unifies Mediterranean cuisines.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Good mediteranean food made with fresh ingredients. Tables are tight, volume of sound is high. Quieter eating outside."

  • "Met friends for dinner on a Wednesday night- we were a party of 3- our table of four might as well have been a table for 6 as the diners next to us were so close. Every table was taken and the he restaurant was loud. Shepherds salad was wonderful as was the Red Lentil soup. Bread was tasty and plentiful. I had the roast chicken which was very good albeit a bit too salty for my taste. Our friend had a lamb kabob over tomato that was wonderful but my wife's lamb dish was very bland. We did not have, but their pizza's looked very good. Overall, a very decent, local place to get a filling and tasty dinner for reasonable cost."

  • "We ate our brunch for a little more than an hour but they brought check before bringing the dessert. Kinda weird. Food was OK."

  • "Come here often for a reason. Great food. Professional service. Great value. Whether it's fish or pizza (unique thin crust) we've always walked away pleased."

  • "The food was, as usual, delicious. Love the wood oven both for its appearance and for the smoked flavor it gave to the eggplant."

  • "I've always had a nice meal here, and the service is friendly. Definitely worth eating here."

  • "We were taking our grandchildren to Symphony Space for a Concert. In reviewing different restaurants yours sounded wonderful. We were not disappointed. The food was terrific. One of our grandchildren arrived late & staff was most understanding."

  • "The food and service was very good but the noise level was beyond being able to have a conversation. Its better at lunch than dinner."

  • "We made reservations for 7 pm on a week night and were glad we did. The restaurant was crowded, but they had a lovely corner booth waiting for us when we arrived. The service was not great and worst of all, the waitress did not get my order right- she brought me the wrong dish. Since I was dining with my parents and it was their treat, I decided not to make a stink and to just eat what was in front of me-Kofte, which is grilled ground lamb served with salad and french fries. It was OK, but not that flavorful. My daughter ordered a pizza, which she said was absolutely delicious. Overall the meal was enjoyable, but nothing amazing, except for the bread, which was the most delicious bread I have ever eaten."

  • "Really a wonderful neighborhood place where the food is always good. Great staff tops it off. Fresh out of the oven Turkish bread is served with a small plate of olives & oil when you are seated."

  • "The restaurant has decent vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Their wine selection was good. Pricey - a bit !"

  • "Love having this fantastic little restaurant in our backyard and almost hesitate writing this review for fear of bringing more people there! Bread is outstanding - crusty and flavorful. Salmon is cooked to perfection. Love the appetizers. All is good and variety is wide. Highly recommend it."

  • "Delicious food and nice, cozy neighborhood place. Would highly recommend it. It felt a little cramped but frankly the other aspects were excellent so I overlooked the tightly packed restaurant"

  • "As always, Bodrum is excellent. I would highly recommend their pizzas (especially the jalapeño if you can handle it). A salad and a pizza compose a perfect meal for two. Their other appetizers, such as manti or zucchini patties, are great. One of my regular UWS stops."

  • "Found the restaurant to be clean, staff friendly, menu sufficiently broad to cater to all tastes. Interesting combo of pizza and Turkish dishes. One of our group had a pizza. It was really good. Ingredients fresh, tasty. Not sure which one it was. Only had a little taste The rest of us had conventional dishes. My Roasted Branzini with Pistachio Relish was beautiful. Nice, crisp skin, moist fish. The Mezze was fine, fresh. For examp0le, the Babaghanoush was nice and smokey, great texture. The B’stila Djej was a treat. Overall, it was a great surprise."

  • "I needed a place for a business meeting. We arrived at 4:30 and the restaurant had several tables available. I knew the food was good because several times people remarked how tasty the meal was, both appetizers and entrees."

  • "Bodrum's brick oven warms the entire restaurant. No matter where you sit, you can see and feel the warmth if it's flames. The first introduction to its products is the wonderful bread you receive, along with delicious olive oil and olives. I always order the Shepherd's salad - with Feta, of course. It's so fresh. Then, I'm torn between the fish raging and the roasted half of an Amish chicken. They're both so good! So, one of us had the fish, the other, the bird. Both perfectly prepared. Don't usually order dessert but my companion did and we shared the rice pudding with vanilla gelato -- don't miss it. And, the service is always just right. Pleasant, attentive and quiet. A go-to place for me."

  • "Excellent meal....from appetizers to dessert! Moussaka was delicious as was the lamb shank. Our waiter was very helpful with suggestions for appetizers and a good bottle of wine. Good Turkish coffee. We had a long and wonderful visit with our friends and NEVER once felt rushed. We'll definitely return! Thank you"

  • "My girlfriend and I live on the upper west side and have slowly but surely been making our way through some nice finds in the area. We went here on a recommendation from a friend and were not disappointed. We have so far come across a nice collection of favorite spots on Amsterdam Ave. and this is another to add to the list. The lamb sis kabob was very well prepared, and the servers were very attentive to our table throughout the evening. Definitely worth a visit."

  • "The food is excellent! Especially the manti, excellent. Having spent a month in Turkey, I can vouch for its authenticity.but the noise level is very high. Their brick walks look pretty, but would muffle sound better if they were padded."

  • "Definitely a neighborhood gem. Not a large place..but the food is fresh and delicious. Warm bread is great and the dips are perfect. Will definitely revisit."

  • "Bodrum is our favorite restaurant in the neighborhood. The food is great and everyone who works there is friendly and welcoming. Don't miss the hummus and manti appetizers, not to mention the amazing bread. The moussaka is great, as is the Adana Kebab. And the pizza is terrific too! But ALWAYS make a reservation - it is small and fills up quickly."

  • "I have ordered take out from Bodrom many times and have been wanting to try it out in restaurant for a while now. When a friend asked for a suggestion in the neighborhood for good food, I decided that we'd give it a shot. The food was just as delicious as expected and the service was very warm and attentive. We were seated right away and provided plenty of their delicious house made bread while we waited. The restaurant itself is a bit crowded and we ended up at the worst table in the house (right in front of the entrance), but it has a cozy, cute feel to it. Make sure to request a table away from the door and you won't be disappointed."

  • "I always enjoy coming to Bodrum. The food is always great and the price is right. The service can be a little off at times but it won't ruin your evening, it just means you might have to look around to get a refill on water. I will definitely return"

  • "We went for lunch on a very snowy and bitterly cold day. We were the only ones in the restaurant until we'd finished our meal! The service was of therefore very attentive and friendly. The food was alright but not outstanding. We shared the mezze sampler. It didn't look that big but half way through, what with the bread, we started to feel pretty full. The mezze was good as was the bread. We followed up with a kofte sandwich which was adequate. And Turkish coffee to round off the meal. The coffee was barely two tablespoons. I've had better. Still all in all it was an ok experience. Would I go there again? Probably not. Unless I happened to be in the neighborhood for something else."

  • "I took my boyfriend out for his bday and arranged with the owner that the dessert will be served with a bday candle. Well this is where the disaster really took place and made me feel ROBBED of my bday plan and of course the money. First off my boyfriend is ON THE PHONE thanking someone for callin him The busperson brings the desert out witH NO CANDLE our waitress stops him before he drops it on the table but my man saw it. Then while he's still on the phone , they this time serve the dessert with the candle but THE GUY IS BUSY TALKIN ON THE PHONE. He was about to get off the phone!!!! They just dropped the lit desert on the table. They Had NO CONCERN They blew up my experience!"

  • "First ate at Bodrum a month earlier and did not hesitate to go there again when friends from Illinois visited. The meal was very good and the table was ready for us when we arrived. Wait staff was, as before, very friendly and helpful. Will definitely go again."

  • "I brought group of seven here on a Sunday night and we had a terrific experience. The food was prepared beautifully and tasted delicious. Our server was attentive and patient as we took our time to decide on dishes. We spent a good 2 hours plus here and were never made to feel that we had to go (the crowd was good, but not packed; it being early Sunday evening may have had a lot to do with that). I've eaten here before but this time introduced five friends to the place -- and all were delighted with everything from the setting to the cost. I'll be back again many times....with friends."

  • "Good selection of Mediterranean offerings - Greek, Turkish, Italian at decent prices. Serving sizes were enough to satisfy and keep you going back for more. Staff was attentive and courteous, generous with their own flat bread which is great with olive oil or with the mixed appetizer plate. It is not a very big restaurant (if you don't count the sidewalk tables) and noise level indoors can be loud. It was completly full on a Thursday night and I was glad I had made a reservation through OpenTable. We arrived on-time and was immediately seated."

  • "Bodrum is in my neighborhood and is one of the best restaurants around. It is priced reasonably and has consistently good cooking. I love the Turkish selections on the menu, but everything else is good too. The pizza is also recommended. It is lovely in good weather with the outdoor tables and cozy in the winter."
