  • "We were excited to eat at Bodega tapas based on various reviews. Service was extremely slow and very poor. We ordered two cold tapas dishes to start and our warm tapas arrived before the cold. The food was terrible on top of all of that! The restaurant itself was neat - romantic vibe, cute little outdoor seating area. However I would never recommend this place to anyone...it was that bad."

It's a nice date night place and your taste buds will be happy. We had the paella and, while not as great as what's available in Spain, it hit the spot. Would come back."

  • "We came to Bodega during a visit to D.C. My sister-in-law is Catalon and we wanted to find a tapas place in the area. None of us had ever been and the menu did not disappoint. The squid ink rice with octopus was by far our favorite dish. The food came out quickly and everything we had was absolutely delicious. The one thing we did not enjoy was the cava sangria, nor the wait to pay our bill. However, it was a great tapas find and my brother and sister-in-law plan to return when her parents come to town. Great music, bar scene, and amazing food!"

  • "I gotta say that I did like the restaurant. Now, there is one thing that's been bothering me the last few times I've dined there: the door. Please, you need double doors. If you are sitting near the main entrance when someone enters the restaurant it gets kinda chilly. Believe me I'm not the only one whose got complains about this. On another note, I feel the service is getting worse and worse. Make sure you hire professionals. The food is good but prices are too high. If you really want to keep charging folks all that money without feeling some shame, you should at least make sure the service is decent. Remember, prices technically include the customer's overall experience, including the server's salaries! "

It started with the waiter giving us a blank look when we asked for water without ice and handing us a dirty plate. The food was good but the time between the appetizers and the main course was a matter of seconds. We wish the service could have been better."

  • "I had the seared octopus, tortilla (espanola), grilled basque chorizo and my dining companion had chicken skewers, olives and garbanzos--great bread--and I had a glass of the Sauvignon Blanc--which was excellent. Nicely decorated--simultaneously earthy and sophisticated. Next time I'll bring a group on a nice day and reserve a table in the courtyard."

  • "Used to be better. The paella marinera is very expensive and they have low the quality. Totally recommend the steak. If u are planning to have a full Spanish immersion, do not even bother. The music was totally hispanic (I am hispanic too). However, when we chose this restaurant was to feel the spanish ambience. The service was really good. Sometimes when gets crowded they put the tables too closed so u are almost in groups. It totally kills privacy or romaticism. The decoration is perfect for special ocassions but do not consider a crowded night or you will just find a loud place with food. "

  • "We happened onto this place while walking around and it looked great. I made reservations for my wife and 3 kids - 7 and 10. Everything was great. Lamb chops, shrimp - 4 helpings, beef skewers, chick pea and spinach. Meatballs, tuna. There was so much to choose from and the wine by the glass was great. When I asked my kids the next day what they wanted for lunch they said Bodega. We have told 4 people so far to try this place. Our best meal in 4 days while vacationing in DC was at Bodega "

  • "Bad service: 1) not attentive waiters, 2) making a simple cocktail took 10 min+ Monday night when there were not a lot of people, 3) I ordered one dish for me and one dish for my friend -- they brought them and put in the center of the table together -- not one dish to me and another one to my friend -- so we thought that was some extra to share (like bread). We were eating that sharing between us and waiting for the "main" dishes -- but those were right the dishes we ordered, so we were confused"

  • "The taps here was outstanding. The dates wrapped in bacon, garlic shrimp and sauteed mushroom and beet and goat cheese salad are divine. Don't order the calamari. They are skinny and not soft. The cava is a bit tart. Overall a great Spanish Tapas restaurant in the heart of Georgetown."

  • "I went with three other friends to Bodega in March. We each ordered 3 tapas. At first the food came out timely and then our experience quickly fell through. I asked our waiter several times where our last two tapas dishes were and he simply said this is tapas restaurant so food comes out sporadically. I told him I've been to tapas places before and it never takes this long for the final dishes. The last two plates finally come out, at least 30 min later, and the waiter said it was a kitchen issue. I am 99.9% positive the waiter forgot to put in our order at all. While Bodega did comp us the last two dishes, I would not recommend going back to this place anytime soon."

  • "I was excited when we got to Bodega- it's very cute and the food looked good. The tapas however were really just "ok". The mussels were fishy and the tuna on the salad also wasn't good. The croquettes were quite good and everything else was really marginal. The sangria also needed work - the red was dry and without much flavor and the special sangria tasted bad because I think they over-marinated the fruit in it.. The place is hot and in a great location so they should work on improving the food because it has a lot of potential."

  • "The Blues Alley reviews said eat elsehwere. I found Bodega, a reasonably-priced tapas restaurant nearby with good reviews. It didn't disappoint. The service was quick (mind you, we ate at 5:30pm on a Saturday), the food came out quickly, and the portions were MUCH larger than one would expect at those prices in fancy G'town. The food was very tasty. For our first round of drinks we tried a couple of their signature $10 cocktails. Both were good but they were rather small and mostly ice. We opted for wine and beer thereafter. REALLY cool decor and fun vibe. It was early so there was a mix of couples, small groups, and families with children in there. I bet it gets pretty festive in there later in the evening. I say go and enjoy!"

  • "The food! The service! The sangria! Ole! We spent a wonderful, long and leisurely afternoon at Bodega. What a great way to wait out the rian in Georgetown. Jonathan could not have been any more attentive or kind. The food was delicious. We enjoyed each and every dish and could not pick a favoirte. Having spent many months in Spain, Bodega was very authentically Spanish and delicious!"

  • "This is the second time I've had bad service at Bodega. You should expect to wait at least 15-20 minutes to get anything you ask for (a glass of wine, the check, etc), and it takes just as long to get the server's attention. The food is great and its so fun ordering different tapas plates. The ambiance is also aesthetically pleasing and fun. But, I probably won't come here again until I forget how much the service annoyed me."

  • "First time at Bodega. We were seated quickly however took a good while for the waiter to show up. Water and bread arrived first, took a good 10 plus mins to place the drinks order. The food though came in quickly. A manager served the wine, but didn't say a word or ask how we are doing. We were seated in the front of the restaurant, the aisles are pretty narrow, my chair was bumped on a regular basis, very annoying when you are trying to drink. Doubtful if I am going back,."

  • "Looking for a good place to meet for a "healthy" dinner, I found Bodega! With their tapas and a significant number of seafood dishes in including a good selection of pyallas, it seemed a good choice. I was not only correct but Bodega will be a frequent go to option on my list now. They have excellent sangria, the longest list of tapas I have seen and a wonderfully decorated restaurant. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly and took good care of us the entire evening. My guests, whom are sometimes hard to please, were singing praises and asking how I found out about Bodega!"

  • "We tried as many hot small plates as we could stuff in and regretted we couldn't try more: seafood of different kinds all were cooked to just the right pint with broths and sauces fragrant with herbs and saffron - some with a bite that did not hide the subtle tastes. We'll be back. The seating, however is cramped and challenges a creaky back."

  • "La Bodega offers a great selection of tapas in their trendy Georgetown location. We had the pan con tomate y jamón Serrano, croquetas de pollo (chicken croquettes), patatas bravas, chorizo, and crispy chicken with manchego cheese. All the tapas were decent, but we were not blown away. Although, Their sangria was very good. The restaurant is nicely decorated, but it's pretty dark. Some patrons were reading their menu with their iPhone flashlight. It's also pretty close quarters among the tables, and when you're surrounded by occupied tables, the noise level goes up significantly. All ok all, it was a nice dinner, but we'll certainly try what else is out there tapas-wise."

  • "My friend recommended this restaurant to me last year when I was travelling in the US from Australia. Me and my friends enjoyed it so much that we went back the next night. 12 months later, I came back and made a special trip to Washington just to dine at Bodega. The food is absolutely amazing with a such a great range of quality tapas and some great drink options as well. I would highly recommend the restaurant to anybody looking for a good meal."

  • "Had the New Year's Eve special menu. Three tapas, paella, desert and a glass of cava. Other than the latter, all were excellent. Service was also top-notch. A loud group seated behind us however, did make our dining experience a little less than it could have been. On the other hand, I highly recommend Bodega to those who enjoy Spanish cuisine."

  • "We LOVE Bodega's food - would try almost anything on the menu and know that we would be so happy. The drinks are great too (try the red sangria and hibiscus margarita). However, the service is awful and we had to ask multiple times for new drinks, the olive oil that comes with the starter bread that everyone had but us, the check, and even to come pick up the check. Would recommend for the food, but expect a long dinner with the service so slow as it is."
