Diner Reviews
  • "Food is good Italian, nothing remarkable. Excellent bread. Good service."

  • "Just arrived in Charleston Friday evening and my daughter wanted pasta. A line snaked out the door when we arrived for a 7:45p table. Luckily for us those folks did not have a reservation. Food was a solid good to good plus. Preparation was thoughtful and flavors were correct and well balanced. Meat was cooked correctly as were the vegetables. My only complaint would be that my sons chicken parm was heavy on the breading, cheese and sauce. Nothing subtle about it. And the angel hair pasta bed it sat on just seemed abused by the weight of it all. But, yes, I would eat there again."

  • "We found Bocci's as we wandered around Charleston many years ago. Now, we visit Charleston at least three times a year to see our son at The Citadel. Bocci is always on our agenda for lunch or dinner. The food is always good and the service is, too. The Chicken Parma is outstanding and the sauce is homemade. The small pizza is a meal and the salads are some of the best around. Friendly service is the normal here."

  • "The good was awesome! We come here every time we come to Charleston. The service is always excellent, the food is amazing (especially the calamari), and great wine choices. The dessert menu is great! Even though I don't like anything coffee, my group is always in love with the tiramisu (apparently it's the best they've ever had). Their dessert martinis are great, the chocolate martini is one of the only martinis I actually like."

  • "My husband and I reserved a table on the web site .... simple to do and our table was ready for us when we arrived. Food was great. Service was good not great. We had to ask for bread and wait for refill of tea. Also, we heard other waitresses telling people about the special of the day. Ours never did. Would reccomend this restaurant .... location makes it the one to go to before a play at the Dock St. Theater"

  • "Good Italian food; historic, interesting building, eclectic crowd."

  • "We found the serivce to be just okay and as far as atmosphere there isn't any. Very noisey as the tables are so close together that you can't even hear yourself talk and if you do you are practically shouting. I don't enjoy hearing other peoples conversations."

  • "Great place to eat. Food as well as the service is excellent. Location is great relatively quiet street very close to the market."

  • "The dinner we had at Bocci's was really fantastic. Our waiter Drew was extremely helpful and very personable. Our meal was made to our request and the food was very tasty and served elegantly by your staff. We highly recommend Bocci's."

  • "This was a dichotomous dining experience at best. The bruschetta was average and the minestrone was very good. My wife's Tuscan duck was very good; my spaghetti with Bolognese and meatball was fair. A few things that bothered me: Being offered a wine from Argentina as the special in an Italian restaurant. The bruschetta was not very grilled and did not have much if any olive oil or garlic on it. Traditionally, Bolognese would be served over fettuccini not spaghetti. I received a huge amount of spaghetti and not too much Bolognese sauce. I was asked if I wanted a meatball and I said yes, I received four rather large meatballs. My receipt said spaghetti and meatballs. Bottom line, average American Italian at best."

  • "This restaurant has always been a great place to have dinner and it still is. I took my wife there for or 5year wedding anniversary and we were treated like king and queens. If you are looking for a place to take friends and family. Don't think twice bocci's is the place."

  • "Great service and wonderful food = Bocci's We were in town for the week, decided to meet friends that we haven't seen in a while and everything was AWESOME."

  • "Food was nothing special. My wife sent Back the lasagna. Looked burnt on bottom same with folks sitting next to us! My veal was rather tough but flavor was alright. We were disappointed!"

  • "This was the 3rd time we ate there during the two week period. It never fails to please. This time I had the salmon and it was exceptional! Their bread is so delicious that I have to control myself or I'm filled before dinner even arrives. It's always busy yet the excellent service and food remains constant. The Tiramisu is one of the BEST I've ever eaten and we always save room for it. On warm evenings they open the doors to the sidewalk so it's like eating outdoors which is nice. We highly"

  • "Staff very nice; wine good; caprese salad very salty; chicken parm was burnt, overcooked, and dry with sauce filled with too many onions; chicken piccata had no flavor/taste, very few capers, and poorly seasoned; risotto was like glue; spinach was overcooked; chose no dessert or coffee; did not finish our meals; a waste of $58.02 plus tip; we tipped the waiter because he was pleasant and very nice."

  • "Delicious meal, nice setting. Space was a bit cramped. It was like they went ahead and squeezed one more table into the room than it was meant to hold."

  • "This is a red sauce type Italin restaurant that is fine for casal eating but not upscale or for foodies"

  • "Excellent service in a beautiful Charleston setting. Very good food and an excellent wine recommendation from our server. Moderate pricing makes for an enjoyable affordable experience. Would recommend to all."

  • "This was our second visit to Bocci's within a week and it's our favorite restaurant in Charleston! The food and service were as good as our initial dining experience there. An added benefit is their prices. It's actually been the cheapest place we've eaten and we've been to a variety of restaurants including diners and cafes. They deliver a complete dining experience that's terrific! We'll probably go one more time before we leave next week!"

  • "Duck Breast Toscana was tasty. Risotto was just OK. Scallops were small. not the large sea scallops we were expecting. Ceasar salad was disappointing. House salad was OK."

  • "Service was good. Food decidedly average. Have dined here numerous times over the last 10 years. Food was better earlier on. Restaurant seems on the decline."

  • "Bocci's is a great find in historic Charleston, is conveniently located with great food and service. We've eaten Italian all over the world, including Italy, and is this is one of the best! Be sure to have their Tiramisu!"

  • "I took my wife, mother -in-law, and daughter here for my wife's birthday. The food, ambiance and wait staff were first class. The staff was great with our 1 year old daughter and made sure we had what we needed for her as well as keeping us served as we'll. I would definitely return here for dinner again, although I probably would not bring my daughter back until she is a little older."

  • "If you are looking for a quant restaurant, Bocci's Italian Restaurant is it! The food is excellent. (Even though one of us didn't get their meal.) We had a party of four. Three of us were served. The fourth meal was lost or given to someone else. Regardless, Bocci's made the meal good. Fortunately, I had plenty of food and shared my meal with my husband."

  • "Service was excellent: just the right amount of attention, not too much, nor too little. We were early for our reservation, they were busy but we were seated right away. My Chicken Picatta was excellent. My husband had the lasagna which was an enormous serving. I do love the ambiance here. Very relaxing."

  • "The prices were very reasonable and the service was great! I enjoyed the dinner immensely. We got the prosciutto and arugula pizza and the seafood pasta. Both delicious and very well done. Nice quiet place on a Friday night."

  • "We had an early seating for VDay. They served our meals before we were half way through our apps. The food was good, I liked the lamb ragu papparedelle special. It was different and tasty but really did not like the fact I still had most of my mushroom app left to finish. Cute place and our server was pleasant and apologized that they had sent the food out way before we were ready."

  • "We liked the restaurant, the service was great! The menu was ok. I was already ticked off though because the parking is very expensive and difficult to find. That night was Valentine day and I thought they said public lot, but I just couldn't find parking so we had to drive around and park a few blocks away. The food was ok. The wine list was a bit weak!"
