Diner Reviews
  • "This restaurant was nice for a good Italian meal. The place is small and their is plenty of help there. Service was excellent and food came fast. The atmosphere would be better without the bright lighting. That took all of the ambiance away."

  • "Food was pretty good. Service was reasonable. Not the best Italian but not bad. Price is certainly right. A good alternative to high end establishments around the Charleston Market."

  • "We come to Charleston every year and always dine at Bocci's. My husband looks forward to the rice balls all year. We always have good food and great service there."

  • "1. we were 1/2 way through our appetizer and our entree came out, bad timing on the chef's side... 2. food lacked in taste 3. had to ask the server if we could have some bread 4. ordered 2 x double expresso, they came out luke warm...ugggghhh, mentioned this to the server, he thanked us for letting him know, but you would think he would have offered us a single expresso on the house...nope..... 5. we did go over all the above with our server and his only comment back was, "I was going to bring out your bread right before your entree....what? entree came out during the appetizer... 6. our bill was easily $150 for 2 people, this restaurant was way off the mark for the price"

  • "One of our favorite couples visited us last year and we took them to Bocci's. When they were planning their trip for this year, they specifically asked that we return! Although we arrived ten minutes early, we were seated promptly at the window table we had requested. The service was terrific! Frequent but not annoying, prompt to clear used plates, and no effort to rush our meal there. Our friends will be returning again, and we will definitely be back soon!"

  • "Worst meal from this service ever. Last minute change and regret."

  • "We went to Bocci's, based on OT reviews. What a disappointment. Our food was inedible; my tortellini was swimming in a pool of oil, with chunks of pancetta so hard I couldn't chew them. They were out of two wines we requested; their recommendation was swill. We left half a bottle in the table. We will not be back."

  • "Our second time to Bocci's - both times were very good. Great value. Something for everyone. Kid Freindly. Never disappointed."

  • "We have been here 10 yrs. ago and this place has gotten better, food is good, authentic Italian at a good price. The waitress was very nice and ver friendly."

  • "We had a party of five including a seven year old. We were seated immediately and the service was great throughout the meal. We tried the duck, pizza, and eggplant and had calamari as an appetizer (generous portion). All we very good, especially the pizza crust. The lowest rated dish at the table was zitti (three stars). We will return to this restaurant."

  • "Have been here multiple times. This time was awesome as usual. Our server was not all that great. She seemed rather overwhelmed. But still a nice dinner!"

  • "The food was good, but average Italian food. Very friendly staff! Ambience great!"

  • "Tucked into Historic Charleston, this little Italian gem was just what we hoped for when we ventured out for dinner. The vintage setting offered an open, bright front dining area with cozy, a cove-like room just a step up in back. The menu offered Italian classics with a modern comfort food twist. We will be back the next time we are in the area!"

  • "Bocci's is my favorite place to eat when visiting Charleston. The food is always excellent and the wait staff are always friendly and helpful. They know their menu inside and out and can work with the Chef to tailor your meal to meet any food allergy you may have. I've always loved the food but more so this trip since I now have several food allergies. My meal was excellent as was my husbands. I'm never disappointed when dinning here!"

  • "For charleston this restaurant was just ok. Food was good but there are better choices for Italian in the area."
    Dined on 5/24/2014
  • "It's easy to find a great meal in Charleston if you have the price of admission but less easy to find a great meal at a reasonable price. Bocci's delivers. The quality of the food and cost of the dinner will not leave you with sticker shock, even the price of drinks wasn't excessive. All in all an experience that left us satisfied with our dinner and pleased with the tariff!"

  • "The food was delicious. There were three in our party; we each ordered something different. I tasted each dish all were amazing. The Tuscan Duck was incredible. The waiter was very knowledgeable. His suggestions of wines to complement our meals were right on the mark. We will certainly go there again."

  • "My family and I attended Bocc'i's after graduation and all of us really enjoyed the food. Seemed very authentic and properly prepared. The atmosphere was a little loud due to other families there but they were celebrating graduations as well so it's understandable. This was my second time there and I would certainly go again! "

  • "My wife's lasagna was, what she called shoe leather and my marinara tasted like it came out of a Ragu jar. staff was great and so is location but need a new chef. Guess there is a reason why it was the only place in Charleston that had an open reservation on such a busy weekend"

  • "Very nice atmosphere. The doors were open onto the street and it was a beautiful night. The food was fine and not too expensive. Wine was good as well! Would go back again."

  • "For Italian food, it was quite bland. The service was fine. The bread basket was good, as was the salad I ordered. Otherwise, the meal was so-so. The angel hair pasta was clumped beneath my entree, so it had obviously not been freshly cooked. A disappointment overall."

  • "Great table, good music and tasty food! Felt like I was in a little Italian restaurant."
    Dined on 5/2/2014
  • "We have been patrons since 1997 and were thoroughly disappointed in the service and the food! The service was pretty poor from waiting for appetizer plates to eat our appetizer, then waiting for our food, dessert, and check to a point that it was almost like we were forgotten while the larger parties were being attended to. As far as the food goes, the duck tuscano was fabulous, but the braised lamb dish was more like "mutton broth dressed as lamb filled to the brim with gnocci". It was more like a mutton stew with very little meat and a lot of gnocci. We were not the only ones disappointed with their meal and service as the table next to us stated to the same waiter, "This was the most disappointing dining experience we've ever had!""

  • "Charleston has some fabulous restaurants but this is not one of them. Ordered an appetizer that never came and my chicken picatta entrée was not edible. "

  • "Our waitress was great, but the food was lacking. For a restaurant that has been around Charleston forever I expected more. Hoping it was just an off night for the chef. Our whole parties food was dry and blah. The wine was excellent though. "

  • "Bocci's near St. Philip's Church is a small quaint gem that offers Italian at its best. The entrees and salads are large and the price is reasonable. What makes it a gem is that it sits right on the street and the food is exceptional. Another Charleston gem that shouldn't be missed."

  • "We stopped in on Saturday afternoon with our children. The environment was sophisticated but not too formal. The food was delicious and of ample portion size. I recommend this restaurant for a bit of down time and delightful food. "

  • "Bocci's is a an experience that is magical time after time. As you cross the threshold there is a transformation that makes the dining experience special. "

  • "This is a good choice for a neighborhood restaurant near Charleston's busy market. We ate early (6:30 PM), so it wasn't especially crowded. The weather was perfect and the doors opened out on the street, adding to the pleasant atmosphere. My wife and I both had pasta dishes, and they were as advertised, not overspiced, not overpriced. If you're looking for a pleasant dinner with a choice of pasta dishes, I would recommend Bocci's. There are other much more expensive restaurants with ambitious menus in the area, but we found that the food and service was just fine. "

  • "We found Bocci's as we wandered around Charleston many years ago. Now, we visit Charleston at least three times a year to see our son at The Citadel. Bocci is always on our agenda for lunch or dinner. The food is always good and the service is, too. The Chicken Parma is outstanding and the sauce is homemade. The small pizza is a meal and the salads are some of the best around. Friendly service is the normal here."
    Dined on 4/12/2014
  • "It was absolutely wonderful and truely authentic food. The wine I selected was okay. The waiter was wonderful. I would definetely eat here again!!!!!!"

  • "Just arrived in Charleston Friday evening and my daughter wanted pasta. A line snaked out the door when we arrived for a 7:45p table. Luckily for us those folks did not have a reservation. Food was a solid good to good plus. Preparation was thoughtful and flavors were correct and well balanced. Meat was cooked correctly as were the vegetables. My only complaint would be that my sons chicken parm was heavy on the breading, cheese and sauce. Nothing subtle about it. And the angel hair pasta bed it sat on just seemed abused by the weight of it all. But, yes, I would eat there again."
