Diner Reviews
  • "Dined with my boyfriend at the recently reopened wine bar in Clayton, "Bocci Wine Bar". Loved the atmosphere. You can hear your conversations, service was fantastic and the food items easy to choose and share. I especially loved the scallops in bourbon honey glaze! It paired well with my "European Whites" wine flight. I will definitely be back. Next time I'm trying the duck/fig flatbread. Great new hot spot!"

  • "We really enjoyed our meal at Bocci this past Saturday. The hummus and pizza pita was a fabulous way to start, the pizza pita texture made it special. We then proceeded to have the Bocci salad which was refreshing. I loved the avacado slices and the grilled lemon was an elegant touch. For my entree I had the seared scallops which were amazing and huge. I was not a fan of the pea risotto but that's probably because I don't care much for rice. I would have rather had vegetables. My bf had the arctic char and was very pleased. It's a light dish with a nice size filet of fish (similar to trout) and plenty of veggies. To end the night we split the tiramisu which was also very good, standard but good just the same."

  • "This was my second time at Bocci and I felt like a regular. Staff is well trained and exude genuine warmth and hospitality. Wine selection is good and well priced. Each of the dishes arrived timely and were well prepared. Menu needs a bit of rounding out and balancing. I think it needs a little more depth, especially on dishes with red wine affinity. Overall, a great place and I will be a regular."

  • "Very disappointing. I went to Bocci when it first opened and it was a totally different place. Meal started off bad when stale focaccia was served. And when I asked for a different bread I was told it was all they had. No crusty bread at an Italian restaurant? Ordered shaved asparagus that was poorly shaved served with a few bits of tasteless truffle. And spinach ravioli that was served in a bowl with globs of cream sauce. It was basically creamed spinach. The biggest letdown was the Bocci salad. I had raved about this salad from earlier visits. Just one look at this salad and I knew it wasn't even close. Just bad, very bad."

  • "The food was excellent - my wife's pizza was just delightful, as was my lobster pasta. WE also enjoyed the wine. It was nice to see owner serving food."

  • "The food was very good, but the service was a little slow. There weren't many people in the restaurant at the time we were, but it took a long time to get our food which was only toasted ravioli and a pizza. By the way, the lobster claw-BLT pizza is outstanding as is the complimentary focaccia bread. Menu items are a little pricey, but it's still a restaurant to go to."

  • "The small plates and signature bread were the highlight. Reasonably priced for the value. There were six of us and we had appetizers a couple of cocktails per person and entres and the bill was just under $50 per person. Great service, very attentive owner, and manager. Cool atmosphere we hung out comfortably for a couple of hours. Great find."

  • "This is a great place for a date night or a night out with the girls. They have wines from small unique wineries, which always makes for an interesting experience."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our Valentines dinner at Bocci. The atmosphere was very comfortable, the wait staff and management were friendly and accessible, and the food was delicious. Portions were exactly right for the evening, and we left feeling satisfied and happy with our evening!"

  • "Service was fair. Food was decent but I did not see the value. Manager was apologetic for the wait time/service and confusion, which we greatly appreciated. He bought us a round if drinks. They had some service/staff issues that evening. Many other choices in the area. Probably won't return."

  • "The food was excellent, but it took an hour for some of our party to be served their food."

  • "The restaurant was comfortable and had a nice decor. The salads were great, the caesar and the bocce. We ordered appetizers and enjoyed them all. Prices were reasonable."

  • "The menu for Clayton week was disappointing. Not very creative and an abbreviated menu from the regular menu. Too MANY high top tables...is it a bar or a restaurant....confusion..."

  • "We choose Bocci for dinner with a couple of friends and were very impressed. They had just updated the menu that day so we were able to choose from the new menu and the Clayton restaurant week menu. I had the grouper and was blown away. It was delicious; so flavorful and light. The meatball app looked beautiful & my fellow diners said it was amazing. The house wine option was delicious for the price and dessert was a wonderfully flaky Italian cookie filled with chocolate creme (can't remember the name!). Thats only a fraction of the food we ate & everything was perfec. The service was also great, lots of information but also lots of time for us to just talk, drink wine and enjoy our dinner."

  • "Went for Clayton Restaurant week and enjoyed all our selections. Great service and even small thoughtful gestures such as a heater in the ladies room to keep out of chill."

  • "Our waiter, though knowledgeable and attentive, was too intrusive and talkative for my group's preference. one member of our group had this particular waiter in the past and experienced the same behavior, which was almost enough for her fiance to leave. however, the food here is delicious and the menu had many tempting itema. We were seated by the manager who was an absolute delight. though we were not a big group, two large groups were there at the same time as us and looked comfortably accommodated. we'll be returning!"

  • "Our dinner was very nice. I had an amazing salad with figs and gorgonzola and a special butternut squash ravioli that was delicious. The service was attentive and friendly, and the feel of the space is cozy. It was a little empty, though, for a Friday night. My only suggestion would be a few more moderately priced wines by the bottle...the prices for wine seemed quite high."

  • "We went Sat night for a late dinner. Service was pretty good, although it took 15 minutes to deliver wine after order. The manager visited each table, which was a nice touch. Salad was good (greens, fig, cheese, etc.) but canneloni looked like it had been reheated in a microwave & tasted about like that, too. Restaurant is attractive. Not sure a second chance is warranted."

  • "Met up with friends and family for happy hour plus dinner and I found this place on Google Maps. The location was close to our hotel and the food and ambiance looked good. Our waiter Jason was excellent. As our party grew, they decided to seat us in the private dining room which worked very well. We had a wonderful time - thanks Bocci."

  • "The food was wonderful, and I enjoyed the warm, rustic decor."

  • "Started well, went downhill quick. Service was spotty and unprofessional. App & salad courses were good, main courses poorly executed and served luke warm. No effort by waitress to remedy errors; however, she managed to avoid our table for an extended period. Uncaring attitude sealed our opinion that this restautant is one and out."

  • "Overall very good. I would not get the polenta again (tasted more like grits and is not like the polenta I am used to from Italy). Enjoyed the smoked salmon bruschetta very much. My husband had the chicken saltimbocca and the arugula salad. Both were delicious. Nice atmosphere. . Simple and to the point wine list with good selections. I would go again and try other foods from the menu"

  • "On our second visit, Bocci didn't disappoint. My wife and I met a friend for dinner to celebrate my birthday. Our server was exceptional. She helped everyone navigate through the menu and was able to make some great wine and food suggestions! The food is very good, and everything was perfect for us all to catch up, and have what ended up being a very good time."

  • "We just had a large party dinner at Bocce this past weekend. The food was delicious, the presentation was devine, the service was amazing and we all had a fabulous time! I will say that they were extra accommodating because we literally gave them 2 hours for a party of 14. We had to leave to get my father off to his surprise party and a delay at the restaurant would have put a wrench in things but, they got us out in time amazingly enough and served us all the best tasting birthday cake I think I've ever had! Thank you to the Bocce Bar staff for making that evening one to remember! We WILL be back!"

  • "First time at Bocci Bar and really enjoyed it. It was a great spot for "grazing" off of the casual small and large plate menu. Before we knew it we had been there hours and hours and were thoroughly full. Wait staff was excellent; very friendly, attentive, and knew the menu !!"

  • "In all fairness, the night we went we had just had a big storm and the outside patio was closed which may have been a totally different experience. The hotel is very small and not a typical Four Seasons. When we got up to the restaurant there was a huge corporate party going on that had been moved inside so we wouldn't have been able to enjoy the view or patio anyway. We were led to a table in the middle of the room in plain view of the bar and the other event going on. I felt like we were party crashers. It was so loud we had to shout to each other. The feel of the restaurant was like a retirement home. People were dressed in shorts. We felt very out of place. The food was okay as I recall, the service was sketchy. Won't go back."

  • "I was so excited to try this restaurant, the menu looked fabulous... but in reality, the food was bland. We ordered the ricotta and artichoke bruchetta -- it was tasteless. One person requested the house salad without onions, but clearly onions were in the house dressing. This was the first visit for everyone at our table, and none of us plan to return."

  • "Although we loved the charcuterie plate and the risotto, we were disappointed by the pasta. The pasta itself was nothing special, and we did not enjoy the dish. But this place is excellent for wine and cheese or a cocktail and cheese."

  • "We were a party of three. English translations and/or description of menu items would be helpful. Food portions were extremely small and not very tasty."
    Dined on 5/30/2012
  • "Food was overpriced and selection was lacking. The wait staff members were very accommodating, but the price did not match the limited food options and only-adequate atmosphere. The restaurant was empty, so that should say something."
