A word from Bocca
On June 25th, 2007, Alessandro Peluso together with his friends and family, opened the doors of Bocca with a celebration and an evening of food and wine. This Roman restaurant has been bustling with patrons ever since. Our Chef James Corona is excited to offer a roster of creative Roman dishes to New Yorkers. Chef James uses only imported Italian DOP (protected designation of origin) products and is a proud supporter of the Union Square Green Market. Our meals are complimented by an extensive wine list, an elegant and cozy yet casual dining environment, and a friendly and courteous wait staff. Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "This was a first time @ Bocca. Food was OK not great. Pasta portions not adequate. Service was slow. It took the food server over 10 minutes to take a drink order or drop bread & butter. Would not return."

  • "My husband tried the special pork sampling which was really good and 3 huge portions."

  • "Over the past few years, have enjoyed a meal at Bocca each time my friends and I have visited the city. We love the atmosphere, food, wine and intimate size of Bocca. If you're GF, you can even have a selection of a couple of GF pastas, although I chose the Long Island duck and was very pleased!"

  • "The fish dishes are fantastic. Salmon or Bronzino, hard to decide"

  • "Ate here with a group of 8 after a friend recommended. Service was a bit slow, but professional and friendly. Food was very good, especially homemade pasta. However some of the dishes lacked seasoning. Overall we were a very satisfied group, but poor acoustics actually make the restaurant very loud, which can be disturbing."

  • "Wonderful for lunch, great prefix lunch menu. Chicken Milanese is delicious."

  • "The staff were welcoming and attentive (just right) not overdoing it. The services of wine and food were excellent…delicious and timely services too. Highly recommended for any special occasion or just dining. We would definitely return!!! Manaia tele means "very good" in our language!"

  • "If I pay $28 for a standard pasta dish, the service should be impeccable. Wonderful ambience, but short on service and too many interruptions to pour tap water to the point of being aggressive. Climate control was a problem, but we will blame that on a 25 degree morning that day and 60 degree evening, at which time we dined."

  • "Great food, fresh and menu changes seasonally. Excellent wine list."

  • "We selected the restaurant based on previous OT reviews. Everyone was delighted. We dined at 9 pm so we were not faced with a full restaurant. Attentive service, well paced meal and every course delicious. Loved the baby arugula sale with champagne vinaigrette. Fresh pasta with short rib ragu was excellent. Two of our party had the short ribs. We shared two apple tastes with rosemary ice cream. So yummy."

  • "After reading other reviews I will have to agree, food was tasty, service was ambivalent. Went on a Wednesday night and the place wasn't close to full. There were multiple servers for about 10 tables and we couldn't seem to get anyone's attention. Ordered the special and got something else. The staff was nice and apologized, offered to fix it but I wasn't waiting another 30 min for my food. All of the dishes were good but with so many Italian places in the city there's no reason to go back."

  • "have the spaghetti prepared at the table...fabulous! lovely spot"

  • "Strong recommendation. Haven't fully explored the menu. But the four pasta dishes - including the cacio e peep - were all superb. Lovely, personal service. Convivial. I'll be back for sure."

  • "I've been to handful of Batali's restaurants now and Bocca is definitely a steal with it's affordable prices. I went during Restaurant Week as well and the menu most certainly disappoint. The servers are clearly knowledgeable about the fare and during my RW experience, I was recommended the most lovely white wine I've ever tasted in my time in the city, a personal favourite of the waitress serving me."

  • "Went here for restaurant week. Great pre-fixe menu with outstanding food! smaller portions, but doesn't leave you hungry. great before a night out! would go back again in a heartbeat! ps - get the tiramisu."

  • "The food and preparations are high quality and creative. Given the "richness" level of all the dishes makes it a good idea to share courses and eat slowly. And keep one's green salad choice simple. We did make it to dessert and the goat's milk cheesecake was superb; I brought home the leftover-enjoyed even more 2 days later when hungrier.. The restaurant is clearly kid-friendly, maybe too much so? The evening we were there, the place was only a quarter full but the noise level from a family of uncontrolled kids, there both before us and lasting until after us, was literally deafening. On the other hand, their shrieking was with happiness not quarrelsome-ness so we were inclined to forgive them eventually; more suprised at the adults."

  • "I haven't tasted Italian food like this for a while! Our waiter was from Milan and was very happy to discuss the menu with us as well as recommendations based upon our preferences. My boyfriend ordered the Capricci all norcina which was out of this world, and I ordered the Fettuccine al ragu bianco which was also delicious. We had the veal meatballs to start which were incredible and set us off on the right foot! All enjoyed with a bottle of red wine, I couldn't have been much happier with the food. The wait staff were all incredibly attentive, but one suggestion might be to leave a little more time between the appetizers, meal, and clearing away dishes- we would have enjoyed the extra time there! All in all, a wonderful experience."

  • "Went as a four, including my fiancée who is fr Milan. Food was awesome. Nearly as good as my future mother in law's cooking. Parmigiana was pretty special, as was the octopus appetizer. But the entrees, wow. You have to have the pasta (cacioepepe) that's served IN the pecorino wheel of cheese. It really is one of those dishes that you'll remover for a long time Also the pappardelle with lamb shank ragu, out of this world. We'll be returning."

  • "We loved of our overall dining experience. Our service was friendly and attentive. The food was great from the octopus appetizer to the fresh pasta. Desert was awesome as well. We enjoyed the tiramisu and bread pudding. I would highly recommend."

  • "I went here for Restaurant Week believing the food would be really good based on the reviews. I would not recommend this restaurant and would probably not go there again. My friend and I had dinner last night and the food was disappointing. The meatballs I had were not flavorful. My dish was okay but nothing special. To top it off I had stomach issues the next morning. My friend's dish the pork shoulder was disappointing. I asked my friend what was wrong and he said it was bad. The bartender was less than enthusiastic. Our server was great. The only positive review I would give is to the service. If you want to try a fantastic restaurant during Restaurant Week try David Burke Fishtail on the Upper East Side!"

  • "We were pleasantly surprised with Bocca! Terrific food, wonderful ambiance and terrific service. We were able to leisurely dine without being rushed through our meal. The waitress who was our server was terrific! She put a candle in our friend's dessert for her birthday, without asking us. Also, I told her that I was gluten free and she accommodated me. We will definitely return to this restaurant. We are foodies and love to dine out. Bocca will be on the top of our list. We are moving to Florida and when we return for a visit, this restaurant will be a must for dinner!"

  • "There are no shortage of restaurants in this neighborhood and my husband is never excited to have Italian. Bocca exceeded our expectations. I chose this restaurant based on the Restaurant Week menu they posted, and our dishes were perfect. The pork belly app was delectable and I adored my kale/anchovy caesar. The porchetta entree was on par with what I've had in Italy, and the salmon was solid (though not memorable -- I had to look over the menu to recall what I'd had). We were limited in time and had not mentioned it to our server, but he was so attentive that we were done with 20 minutes to spare. So my husband added Basil Gimlet to cap off our dinner and that drink was impeccable. We will be back!"

  • "Bocca has a warm decor and is fit for a dinner with friends. I went with a group of 5 on a Thursday evening (6pm-9pm) and it was pretty busy then. If you're looking for a calm, dressy casual Italian place, this is perfect during the weekdays. From the looks of their business on a Thursday night, the weekends are probably a bit louder. There were couples so it could be an option for a comfortable date night."

  • "Food was excellent, service was great, very busy. Would definitely be back soon. Went for restaurant week, but ordered off regular menu. Order the pasta that comes out of a wheel of cheese."

  • "Restaurant week menu is Fabulous! Salmon cooked to perfection. You can also order from regular menu, which never disappoints"

  • "If only the noise level were bearable, this place would be a gem. But the noise is a major detraction from the enjoyment of everything else."

  • "A small place in the Flatiron District, Bocca brings great food! The place is small but the set up of the dining room is spaced out enough where you don't feel on top of other parties. The decor is simple and trendy. The food was great!! The bread comes out with their homemade bruschetta and it was fresh and delicious! Their pastas are amazing! They are flavor-enriched and tender. The mixture of flavors are different yet appetizing. Overall, I really enjoyed this place and will definitely return in the future. HIGHLY RECOMMEND."

  • "My friends and I dined here for NYE. It was a fixed menu with typical choices of meat and fish. The secondi pasta was by far the favourite dish as it was delicious and filling. By the time our steaks arrived we were already feeling full. Overall it was great value, good food and location and would go again."

  • "Highly impressed by the food and drinks at Bocca. This restaurant is definitely recommended and we'll be returning. Suggestions: veal meatballs, basil gimlet, chocolate/espresso cake, lamb/kale pasta."

  • "Went to Bocca on a Sunday night. Place was quiet but the staff was extremely attentive and all wine was 1/2 off. Ordered an excellent Barolo and had a lovely dinner. Pastas were all made on premise and came out hot and to our liking. The swordfish was good albeit a little salty and overcooked Overall a good experience."

  • "We were recommended to go to this restaurant by a frequent New York traveller. We made the stop and we were treated like royalty and the food was a dream come true. The lunch special pricing was also a nice surprise to get this level of quality for the price. We will come again on our next trip to the big apple and recommend the stop to our friends."
