Bocca di BaccoFood made up for rude hostessWe had 9:30pm reservations for 6 people. During our 40 minute wait, it was made clear to us that we were in the hostess's way. There was no place for us to go; no place at bar, etc. There was no communication with us as to the status of the wait unless we inquired and when we did inquire we were an obvious annoyance. We would have solved the hostess's problem if we would have just left but we had no where else to go and it was late. Our teenage daughter overheard the hostess complain to her co-workers about us. The hostess didn't realize our she was part of our party. That said, to make up for the long wait the restaurant gave us wonderful complimentary appetizers and desserts. The food was some of the best I've eaten in New York City.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious EveningLooking for a place to go before a Terminal 5 show, I turned to Open Table for ideas. B Di B looked inviting, both the menu and location. While the ihostess seemed unhappy
to be there, the overall atmosphere was lively and charming. The remainder of the staff were, for the most part, attentive and pleasant. The food was the real star. My guest and I both delighted in a wonderful pumpkin ravioli, beautifully presented. Getting the attentionof our server for the check was a challenge, though. I'll happily return, but overall service could be improved to match food and ambience.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing DinnerThis restaurant went far beyond my expectations. I love italian food and wasn't expecting much except to get my pasta fix but I was pleasantly surprised. We started with the Crostini Misti and Grilled Octopus. The crostini misti came with about 5 giant crostini's with cheese and bruschetta and prosciutto. For the entree I had the spinach and ricotta tortellini with a butter sage sauce. It was possibly the best pasta dish I ever had. I will definitely be back! I think I found my new favorite restaurant!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSome things great, bland specialGreat atmosphere, wine selection, salads, and appetizers fantastic. Soups and fish entree great. Very disappointed in the pork special. The meat was tender and moist, the toppings were great, but the meat was incredibly bland. It tasted like it was cooked in unseasoned bread crumbs or something. Three of us in our party had it, and later agreed we should have sent it back. Overall a cool place with a great atmosphere, but very disappointed in the special, should have ordered something else. Based on other reccomendations, I would try it again however.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were 4 girls attendingWe were 4 girls attending a reasonably early dinner before a Broadway show. They were aware of our time commitment and kept us on schedule which we really appreciated. Server was great when we saw him but we often had to ask another waiter or bus person to help us because we could never get his attention (another fork, another round of drinks etc....) Bus staff definitely made up for the service - they were wonderful. Food was outstanding - everyone loved their appetizers and main dishes. We also enjoyed the wonderfully creative cocktails. The decor is really great and definitely added to our overall experience. We would go back no question!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious! This was my second time dining at Bocca. The wine list is extensive and the food amazing. We had the muscles appetizer - if I could, I would have drank the leftover broth, it was SO good. The pastas are all fresh and delicious. I had the gnocchi and my mother had the fish special and thought it was great. The best part of our night was that we were heading to a broadway show - our waiter was so accommodating about getting our food out to us.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous Monday nightThe staff were amazing! Attentive, friendly and had a real sense of pride in their work. The food was deliciously homely was served quickly, smoothly and piping hot. I just can't believe that I have lived so close to this restaurant for 7 months and never been in. Well all that will change from now on, Bocca di Bacco has just become my new local. Great experience!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe came back a week laterWe came back a week later after enjoying the first time. It was even better; food very good, and service by Gustavo was excellent. Ordered same interesting wine and apparently it was without the same freshness, body and flavor. They immediately apologized and opened a new bottle at the table (so we would see they were actually doing it); it was great wine, tasted terrific and a body that was not dull or flat. The management are welcoming, warm and seek to serve the clientel to ensure our enjoyment. Highly recommend to all.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the delicious food andLoved the delicious food and appreciated the good service, but it was so noisy, my dinner companions and I couldn't communicate! We left the restaurant early, forgoing dessert (and we were out celebrating a BIRTHDAY, so skipping cake on a special occasion like that is saying a lot!), just so we could get away from the clatter and hear each other. I'm sure it's not as noisy if you are seated towards the front of the restaurant, but the acoustics toward the back made for some pretty incomprehensible dinner conversation.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMPre-Theater GemWould recommend this place highly for pre-theater crowd. Walking distance from the district, but not touristy, nor a chain, the food here was excellent from the pasta to the seafood and the appetizers. The service staff was attentive and knowledgable, and the management was on top of details and customer service. Check out the menu and go.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dinner placeWent here after seeing a show and celebrated my mother's birthday. It had exactly the ambiance and class we were looking for and the food was just as good. The service was great and it was an overall nice experience. The pasta is home made. Lots of green veggies to choose from as side dishes, and salads are creative and tasty. The ambiance is warm and inviting with rustic woods and exposed brick, candles and wine bottles you feel like you are in a very cool bar/restaurant in Italy. They have about seventy wines by the glass, and even a 3 oz. tasting portion. Very impressive wine selection. Will definitely go back.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThis location is slightlyThis location is slightly outside of Times Square/Mid-town though worth the walk. Much better than touristy restaurants that cater to the masses in the Times Square area. We'll plan to return the next time we visit NYC.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMServers we awesome. Went twice in 2 weeks. Food is impeccable, service is absolutely amazing. Not one rude or stuck up waiter, host, etc. Environment is great too. Im pretty picky, and this is one of my fav italian restaurans.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMI have been here several timesI have been here several times before. The restaurant is in the theater district and is very good choice for pre theatre. this time we we had lunch, and ate very lightly, just several appetizers which were all very good and was plenty. Bocca di Bacco is one of many interesting ethnic spots in this area and is definiely worth a try.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMNice, cozy place, it was recommendeNice, cozy place, it was recommended by my daughter and it was great. I work with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater located at 405 West 55th street and I will definitely feel comfortable bringing my guests here to dine! Wait staff was verty friendly and accomodating! Thumbs up!!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMNice Neighborhood Hang-outA nice place for a casual, relaxed meal -- very nice wine list, and plenty of choices for wine by the glass. The food was well prepared and presented, and quite reasonably price. Attentive but not overbearing service. All in all, a great find!3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMHad to find a place last minuteHad to find a place last minute for myself, my boyfriend and his father who I was meeting for the very first time. YIPES! Needless to say I needed to pick a good place. Well, Bocca di Bacco was indeed the BEST place I could have taken them. The space itself is lovely, intimate and very well decorated. Maybe a bit too dark for my bf's dad to read the menu but hey there are worse things. The staff was super helpful and very personable. The FOOD! Just delicious and very fairly priced. I would go back in a heart beat! Plus I got some major points for picking such a great place. This is the place to go!3/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
