Diner Reviews
  • "My wife and I were in NYC for a long weekend and had seen another location for this restaurant featured on the Food Network. There is a Burnt Wheat Pasta that was featured and I was interested. It's hard to put into words a true description of how it was, but I can honestly say that it was good, but not great. My wife ordered the special - it was Chicken Parmesan with house-made spaghetti noodles and sauce. This is not necessarily meant as criticism, but the sauce tasted like it came out of a can of a certain Chef that most of us grew up with. It's not that it wasn't good, but for the special and the price, we had hoped for more. Our waiter - wasn't rude, but was not attentive and didn't really seem to be "there"."

  • "The food was great, the service was very good, but without a weekday happy hour, I could easily pick any of the other restaurants on 9th Avenue for a bite to eat after work/before a show."

  • "This is my third visit to the chain, second at this location. Each visit has been a most satisfying experience. The food I superb, excellently prepared & served. Can't rave enough. Go there and mangia!!! I'll be back shortly."

  • "After trying to get a reservation on 44th Street near the theater, I found Bocca Di Bacco during a internet search. It was a great find. A pleasant, efficient and friendly staff. A menu that has just about something for everyone, including vegan family members. The food was outstanding. For someone with a good appetite, like me, the portions could have been a bit larger. To top it all off, the desserts were fabulous. The prices were reasonable and seating and table arrangements were not overcrowded. A real winner as far as I am concerned."

  • "Food was scrumptious! If we ate tthe same meal at a fancy place at twice the price we'd be talking about it for weeks."

  • "This is a great pre-theater place. I've seen the reviews up and down, all I can say is we were there on a very up day. We will be back."

  • "Warm and friendly atmosphere. Food was okay, we had the skirt steak. We split a ceasar salad not knowing a salad came with our meal, that should have been mentioned. Overall fine, easy pre theatre dinner."

  • "We were going to theatre and it worked very well for that. It's got a nice bistro feel and the decor is cool. They should have a glass of wine under $10 ."

  • "Portions. Generous. Service. Exceptional. Wine selection. Perfect. Food. Delicious. Restrooms. Cleanest in NYC. Clams and pasta absolutely awesome!"

  • "It took forever to get refills. We declined dessert after waiting forever to get the server back and it wasn't busy at all. I ordered the sausage dish with the spiral pasta and it was drenched in sauce and the meat was the consistency of dog food."

  • "After trying Bocca De Bacco in Chelsea, we decided to try the restaurant by the same name in the Theater District. We were pleasantly rewarded with the same menu, and consistent quality a value as the Chelsea location. The manager, waiters, and hostess could not be more accommodating. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the decor was typical, Italian modern, seen in many restaurants in Italy. The wine list had an excellent selection. I guess we enjoyed, because we were there for five hours. Bravo, another winner in the Bocca chain."

  • "I brought a 19 and 14 year old here for a pre-theater dinner. I hadn't checked the menu beforehand and was a bit concerned when we arrived that it might be too sophisticated for the youngest. The pasta with meat sauce was a big hit though. Everyone enjoyed their salads and entrees. Service was well-paced and attentive. Ambience was a bit on the dark and noisy side for this 50+ person, but not unbearably so. Reasonably priced for the level of quality. Bottom line: I would return and recommend to others."

  • "The food was delicious, my husband's gnocchi melted in his mouth! But what really impressed us was the service which was quite outstanding. Attentive without "hovering" and in and out in an hour before a show. We were very pleased with our experience at Bocca di Bacco!"

  • "Great wine list, enjoyed the cheese plate as well as cured meats. Have been here many times in the past. This last visit I had a horrible server who was arrogant and seemed to forget our wine - bread . And wouldn't even bring over the check when we wanted to leave"

  • "Great service and great food, you really can't ask for more!"

  • "Overall food was average at best but the worst part is we found a thick piece of plastic in our dessert! They waitress took the plate back however when we got the check the dessert was still being charged! You'd expect them to AT A MINIMUM remove the dessert that was inedible... So many great italian restaurants in NYC. Would not pay for that meal again..."

  • "We caught a late night dinner here after seeing a Broadway show and sure glad we dropped in....authentic Italian food. The service and staff was great. The place is cozy and romantic. We will be back next time we are in n the Big Apple."

  • "One of the better spots in theater district. Very good food, excellent service. Reasonable wine list. Moderately priced. I highly recommend it, especially over the tourist traps across the street."

  • "I have been to other Bocca Di Bacco locations but the Theatre District location is especially wonderful. This is the second time I visited and I plan to continue to be a patron...and to recommend it to anyone who wants to have a lovely dining experience and/or wishes to impress a fellow diner..."

  • "Never fails to be great. My 3rd time back and the home made pasta with veal osso bucco ragu was excellent as was my wife's snapper. Love this place. Often recommend for out of towners and locals alike."

  • "This was the second time I ate here and obviously went back because we enjoyed the first time. Unfortunately, someone decided to leave the glass doors at front open and restaurant felt more like an oven then the oven probably did. We asked our server if they would turn on the air but they were committed to leaving those doors open so our entire meal was spent wiping the backs of our necks with our napkins. So, if you go, make sure, if it's summer, that those doors are closed!!"

  • "Service was very good. Everyone was attentive, cordial and at the same time not pushy. Food was simply outstanding. My companion who rarely eats all of a meal couldn't stop eating. It was fascinating to watch. Price was reasonable, especially for NY. A great experience. "

  • "Really great appetizers, pastas, and big portions for late-night appetites. The place has a very nice vibe. The bar sometimes has Broadway cast-members hanging-out. The service is terrific, and the kitchen is fast. "

  • "We have eaten at the sister restaurant on 54th street and the food and service here are on par. Guaranteed great food and service. Highly recommend pre or post theater or anytime. Bit noisy but that's to be expected. "

  • "We never ate here before and we're pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Try the bruschetta which is not traditional but is to due for. All other dishes were great too. Well priced menu too. I would definitely return"

  • "This restaurant was a disappointment. We had reservations through open table and yet we shunted in to the bar area rather than the dining room. First, having been given at able right by the bar we opted for "raised seating." Big mistake as the seats are very uncomfortable. We immediately switched back to a regular table. My dinner compa noon and I both had the fish. It eas over cookie and tasted ore cooked. The clams that came with it were so tiny that there were laughable. We didn't have desert because there was a 17 minute gap between the waiter bring us the desert menus and returning for the order that I afraid to order given that we only ad thirty minutes to make our curtain. Staff displays hasty attitute."

  • "This is definitely my favorite restaurant in Hell's Kitchen. The menu is interesting, the food is consistently delicious, and the wine list is excellent. I met a fried there the other night, and it was his first time dining there. He loved it,too, and said he would recommend it to others."

  • "After seeing a play Saturday night on 52st, it was a short walk to this restaurant which had been one of the few accepting reservations at 11:30. It turned out the reservation wasn't necessary; there were plenty of tables. The place has an energetic vibe as they were playing techno euro music. The food was really good. I had the beef carpaccio with arugula and shaved Parmesan which melted in the mouth. I had the sorrento gnocchi which was too filling for me and not so special but my husband had the homemade squid ink pasta with mixed seafood and it was outstanding. Overall a good late night find."
