Diner Reviews
  • "We caught a late night dinner here after seeing a Broadway show and sure glad we dropped in....authentic Italian food. The service and staff was great. The place is cozy and romantic. We will be back next time we are in n the Big Apple."

  • "Overall food was average at best but the worst part is we found a thick piece of plastic in our dessert! They waitress took the plate back however when we got the check the dessert was still being charged! You'd expect them to AT A MINIMUM remove the dessert that was inedible... So many great italian restaurants in NYC. Would not pay for that meal again..."

  • "One of the better spots in theater district. Very good food, excellent service. Reasonable wine list. Moderately priced. I highly recommend it, especially over the tourist traps across the street."

  • "I have been to other Bocca Di Bacco locations but the Theatre District location is especially wonderful. This is the second time I visited and I plan to continue to be a patron...and to recommend it to anyone who wants to have a lovely dining experience and/or wishes to impress a fellow diner..."

  • "Great food in a great Italian place. Service was a little slow and forgot some stuff but overall quite attentive."

  • "Never fails to be great. My 3rd time back and the home made pasta with veal osso bucco ragu was excellent as was my wife's snapper. Love this place. Often recommend for out of towners and locals alike."

  • "This was the second time I ate here and obviously went back because we enjoyed the first time. Unfortunately, someone decided to leave the glass doors at front open and restaurant felt more like an oven then the oven probably did. We asked our server if they would turn on the air but they were committed to leaving those doors open so our entire meal was spent wiping the backs of our necks with our napkins. So, if you go, make sure, if it's summer, that those doors are closed!!"

  • "Service was very good. Everyone was attentive, cordial and at the same time not pushy. Food was simply outstanding. My companion who rarely eats all of a meal couldn't stop eating. It was fascinating to watch. Price was reasonable, especially for NY. A great experience. "

  • "Really great appetizers, pastas, and big portions for late-night appetites. The place has a very nice vibe. The bar sometimes has Broadway cast-members hanging-out. The service is terrific, and the kitchen is fast. "

  • "We have eaten at the sister restaurant on 54th street and the food and service here are on par. Guaranteed great food and service. Highly recommend pre or post theater or anytime. Bit noisy but that's to be expected. "

  • "Service was a perfect balance of friendliness and low key. We are vegetarian s and were delighted with all the menu options. Very happy customers."

  • "We never ate here before and we're pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Try the bruschetta which is not traditional but is to due for. All other dishes were great too. Well priced menu too. I would definitely return"

  • "This restaurant was a disappointment. We had reservations through open table and yet we shunted in to the bar area rather than the dining room. First, having been given at able right by the bar we opted for "raised seating." Big mistake as the seats are very uncomfortable. We immediately switched back to a regular table. My dinner compa noon and I both had the fish. It eas over cookie and tasted ore cooked. The clams that came with it were so tiny that there were laughable. We didn't have desert because there was a 17 minute gap between the waiter bring us the desert menus and returning for the order that I afraid to order given that we only ad thirty minutes to make our curtain. Staff displays hasty attitute."

  • "This is definitely my favorite restaurant in Hell's Kitchen. The menu is interesting, the food is consistently delicious, and the wine list is excellent. I met a fried there the other night, and it was his first time dining there. He loved it,too, and said he would recommend it to others."

  • "The restaurant is okay, but we found the menu very limited. What we had was fresh and good, but there wasn't much to choose from, and the portions were very small. "

  • "After seeing a play Saturday night on 52st, it was a short walk to this restaurant which had been one of the few accepting reservations at 11:30. It turned out the reservation wasn't necessary; there were plenty of tables. The place has an energetic vibe as they were playing techno euro music. The food was really good. I had the beef carpaccio with arugula and shaved Parmesan which melted in the mouth. I had the sorrento gnocchi which was too filling for me and not so special but my husband had the homemade squid ink pasta with mixed seafood and it was outstanding. Overall a good late night find."

  • "Best list of wines by the glass in the city! Great food and attentive staff. "

  • "Pastas were oily and sauces should have simmered longer to tenderize meat and infuse flavors. Salads seemed to be made from left overs in kitchen; biscotti small and thin and clearly store bought. Bread dried out and tasteless."

  • "Food was good, but not memorable in any way. Service very good, and we were not rushed to leave!"
    Dined on 5/3/2014
  • "Although we were seated as far from the bar as possible, the noise level was still difficult, probably due to the hardness of the décor. The food was good and the service was prompt, almost rushed. "

  • "The food was delicious, I had the penne with gorgonzola sauce and the warm chocolate cake for dessert. I highly recommend both dishes. The staff was friendly and our food came out quickly. Great place to eat before a show since it is conveniently located in the theater district. It has a relaxed atmosphere, and I didn't feel rushed at the end of the meal. "

  • "We really enjoyed the food that we had--but it was so noisy that we couldn't hear each other. We prefer the Bocca Di Bacco in the 50's, but we will return here. You can't go wrong with what you order--especially the pastas."

  • "Food was terrific - sat in a table by the window - which was perfect. Very noisy - so we were glad to be sitting against a window so we could hear each other. I would def go again."

  • "I had high hopes as i LOVE arte cafe uptown (owned by the same people) but this was not as good. Food was just ok but service was terrible. The man with the water poured too fast so my friend and i both got hit by water. but our waitress never came to check on us, took forever to get our check. "

  • "We came here for lunch at 1pm on a Wednesday afternoon. They place is really nice with about half of the restaurant full. We sat down right away and it took 10 minutes for the server to come over. Another 15 mins for him to take our orders. The menu for lunch is a prix fix but every Item you order is an upsell of $2-$4 on both the starter and entree. How does this make sense? What kind of prix fix is this?? The server was super busy because you had zero help. No buser nothing. The food was ok. I would not return because our quick lunch turned into a two our ordeal. "

  • "Carpaccio di Manzo excellent, albeit a little chintzy with the beef; I asked for olive oil and pepper instead of the yellowy sauce. Bread crusty, Italian and delicious. I had the Branzino special with roasted veg and it was first rate. Really good. John at the bar gave me a taste or two of some excellent wines, including an Italian Riesling that was dry and refreshing."

  • "Good spot for quick dinner before a show. Nice entree of Salmon and a seafood risotto special. Tables very close together and loud but good food at a reasonable price"

  • "Menu looked great, lively atmosphere, interesting wines. Just didn't pan out. Food was just so-so. Grilled octopus had all the right elements, but in a sauce - just plain weird for a dish like that. Sausage stuffed quail was far more sausage than quail. Service definitely needed work. Found myself snagging silverware for the next table over. Certainly convenient, reasonable prices and large portions, but definitely not worth going back to."
