Diner Reviews
  • "Carpaccio di Manzo excellent, albeit a little chintzy with the beef; I asked for olive oil and pepper instead of the yellowy sauce. Bread crusty, Italian and delicious. I had the Branzino special with roasted veg and it was first rate. Really good. John at the bar gave me a taste or two of some excellent wines, including an Italian Riesling that was dry and refreshing."

  • "Good spot for quick dinner before a show. Nice entree of Salmon and a seafood risotto special. Tables very close together and loud but good food at a reasonable price"

  • "Menu looked great, lively atmosphere, interesting wines. Just didn't pan out. Food was just so-so. Grilled octopus had all the right elements, but in a sauce - just plain weird for a dish like that. Sausage stuffed quail was far more sausage than quail. Service definitely needed work. Found myself snagging silverware for the next table over. Certainly convenient, reasonable prices and large portions, but definitely not worth going back to."

  • "Bocca di Bacco, conveniently located in the theater district is true treasure. Sleek, black accented décor; beige wallpaper with Italian quotes throughout gives the feel of an authentic modern Italian bar/restaurant. Starting with a house bruschetta, an ample menu with something for everyone is presented, moderately priced. Warning: don’t overload on the appetizers, less you’re too full to enjoy the main course. (We did, the Eggplant Rolotini is almost a meal in itself.) Settling on the Taglierini Con Grancho (Homemade Squid Ink Pasta, jumbo lump crabmeat, baby arugula, fresh tomato), was perfection. There are also many daily specials. Too full for dessert, will have to do that in next visit, which will be soon. "

  • "My wife and if went there based on OT reviews and we were not disappointed! Nice convenient location on 9th ave within 10 or 15 minutes walk from the Book of Mormon and even closer to other shows. Great wine list by the glass. No special pre-theater menu which would have been nice, but the entrees were reasonable by NY standards. They had some interesting appetizers and entrees that I had not seen before and we tried them. Both were awesome. I would go back."

  • "We had a great night at Bocco Di Bacco. After seeing a show it was a reasonable walk to the restaurant. The food was so fresh and delicious. I would definitely have dinner there again. The wine list was great too!"

  • "When I first arrived the hostess was busy on her phone texting and didn't look up for a full minute. She then went to the back of the restaurant to help another customer. While I was waiting a couple arrived after me and the manager seated them first. Completely ignoring and bypassing us. The food was good. And, I can say I have had much better Italian food in other restaurants. The music in the dining room was so loud it was like being in a disco. I couldn't hear the waiter when he talked nor could I hear my dining companion. I will not be back."

  • "Enjoyed our pre-theater dinner Saturday night; burrata special appetizer and swordfish special entree were great; gnocchi was good, as was the chocolate cake for dessert; service was perfect, our waiter was always there when needed; all the tables were packed and everyone looked like they were having a fun time."

  • "Beet salad was a perfect compliment to the wonderful pasta dishes. Lamb ragu was tender & tasty, Black linguine with crabmeat was fresh and delicious. Fun atmosphere & attentive, warm service."

  • "Very close to the theaters. No rush before the show. Nice wine list, but quite a few of the bottles weren't available that night. What we did have was very good and reasonably priced. Food was quite good and portions were nicely sized. Would do again."

  • "Ate previously at Bocca's Hells' Kitchen location. Had a wonderful meal at that location and hoped for the same at their Theatre District location. We were not disappointed! The rice balls were excellent as well as the beet and bresaola salads. We both had pasta for dinner, including pasta with crabmeat and a special pasta of spinach fettuccine with veal ragu and mushrooms that was so rich - both were quite delicious! All pasta, except for the penne, is homemade. Most wines on the wine list are from Italy with many unusual finds at reasonable prices. Overall, Bocca is a great restaurant at very reasonable prices. Looking forward to going back soon!"

  • "This is a great Northern Italian restaurant off the main beat of the West End. My wife and I were in NYC and decided to try this Italian restaurant. The menu was great; we had a tough time deciding. We did not try the pasta, but it looked wonderful based on what we heard and saw at the adjacent table. My wife had Rosemary Chicken that was fantastic. Juicy and flavorful. I had the Italian grill, with a sampling of Italian sausage, skirt steak, chicken and lamb chop. Everything was amazing, but the skirt steak was just the best I've had. The restaurant is small and nicely decorated, albeit a little bit on the dark side. The wine list was excellent and the prices were very reasonable for NYC. We would definitely recommend this restaurant."

  • "We booked here with only having looked at reviews and took a chance and were pleasantly surprised. We started with the fried Calamari which was delicious. My daughter had the tortellini with ricotta and spinach which also had parmesan on the bottom. It was fresh and delicious. I had the salmon with grilled onions and green beans. There was a balsamic reduction sauce as well. All was very good. They had a good selection of wine. I would definitely recommend and we will go back again."

  • "Have been dining at the 51st street location forever & love it, at this location same menu & great service. We were happy w/ the lunch pre-fix menu & the portions were very generous. The mussel app & the lamb ragu were our faves. My mom & sister were in town for a matinee & loved it. We were there on a Weds & it was not crowded at all so we didn't have to worry about getting served in time to walk over to our show. 51st location is still my favorite b/c i like the decor better, but would definitely come back here too."

  • "My husband and I had dinner here on Saturday before a play. I had the pasta with lamb ragu, and my husband ordered the pasta with veal ossobucco sauce. Both were quite good. The service was a bit odd--it took our waitress several minutes to bring menus, several more minutes to take our drink orders, but once we ordered our meals, the food came immediately. The decor is cute. My only complaint: The music is way too loud!"

  • "Very good option pre theatre. Moderate prices menu with excellent pasta. The pasta with crabmeat had very little crab however. Salads fresh and well composed."

  • "Thought I'd check this place out. It was a solid 'good' brunch. Nothing spectacular, but really good. Service was OK and they were decent about keeping our drinks filled. They did seem to have some favorite tables that got more/better service than the rest of the restaurant. Love the ambiance and decor of this place -- feels very comfortable. This is a nice alternative for the neighborhood that isn't quite as busy as some of the other restaurants in the neighborhood."

  • "My pasta dish was supposed to have crab meat in it, but I literally would need a magnifying glass to find it and the portions in general were very small."

  • "I love the relax feel of this place - like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I stumbled upon this place by accident with my girlfriend and we have been going back ever since for date night or with friends and family. The Papardelle with veal rouge and pasta with lamb rouge are all time favorites. However, there are many other great dishes such as the fava been soup and the zucchini chips. For those of you who love wine, the wine list is deep and affordable. The service is knowledgeable and friendly. If you have a chance definitely try this place you will not be disappointed."
