Diner Reviews
  • "the food and service were excellent. the ambience a bit loud like so many places that go for the brick stone look with nothing to absorb sound. we dine there anytime"

  • "The food was quite good, the service very hurried--it seemed like they could not wait to turn the table and the noise was terrible."

  • "General ambience: The interior was beautiful. Slightly dark for menu reading but nice nonetheless, romantic. Loud; bad music choices. Sort of incongruent. Food: I loved my wine and my menu choices left me satisfied. They were good but not stellar. Veal was slightly tough but flavorful. Companion's choices left much to be desired. Arancini, was not a hit, lots of saffron. Salmon though well cooked was bland. High, high prices for quality of food. Service: Server initially good though slightly patronizing in menu explanation at one point. Once he was corrected all was well. One of two bussers seemed either not to understand the language or not care, however one was extremely helpful and responsive. Not terrible; fine in a pinch."

  • "Loved the atmosphere. A bit rustic and simple. Food was good, but a bit pricey. Started with the arancini which were gummy. Caesar salad was great. Orrechiette with lamb ragu was really tasty. Gnocchi were also too gummy. All the staff were very attentive."

  • "A group from the office went for lunch and found a great lunch special with many choices. We were very pleased with our appetizers and entrees. I ordered the octopus followed by the Branzino with broccoli rabe, and both were delicious. My dining mates ordered the skirt steak salad and the tortellini and both were also pleased. The ambiance was great, we felt like we stepped into a Tuscan bistro. It was difficult to motivate ourselves to leave and go back to work!"

  • "Recommend Bocca di Bacco very highly. Visiting NYC from Florida and found this gem on Open Table & Trip Adviser. The reviews were on the mark. Both of us had fish, and it was excellently prepared and attractively served. We stayed in a hotel in Mid-town West Side and walked to Bocca di Bacco. My wife adds that the waiters were also good looking!"

  • "Sweet ambience; friendly bar; cozy but comfortable dining area. Service friendly, prompt, helpful. Menu, specials varied; several pasta, fish, chicken and red meat options at reasonable prices. Husband's bolognese was tasty. My grilled branzino was delicately seasoned, with broccoli rabe and roasted potatoes. Entrees were more than satisfying, but had to try the special risotto (aspargus, gorgonzola). So delicious I wanted to close my eyes and zoan out. Hubby chose creamy sorbet combo from fairly extensive dessert menu. Cappucchino was best I've ever had. Didn't drink, but good wines are offered. Glad friend recommended. Eager to return."

  • "The service was incredible, I took my clients out for dinner and they loved this place. The wine selection was also very nice!"

  • "I took my wife here before going to see Jersey Boys. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was great, right down to the Italian server. I would recommend this for all occasions and plan to return next time I find myself in NYC."

  • "Feels like you are in a neighborhood in Tuscany.. Warm, friendly, great fresh pasta and great wines!"

  • "This was my second time dining at the restaurant. 1st time was for a friend's bday. Great food and service. The second time still had great service but had lackluster food. I ordered the chicken with mashed potatoes and rosemary sauce. Even with the sauce, the chicken was hard and dry. Super disappointed since the first experience was everything but. I didn't expect amazing fine dining quality, but at least decent effort with food prep. Not going back"

  • "Great food, I would definitely recommend it but a bit pricy for the area."

  • "My daughter and I went based on the online reviews. The restaurant is beautiful and the service is good. Unfortunately, the food was ok. The cheese plate was supposed to be large enough to share but sufficient for me to snack on along with my salad with minimal "toppings." My daughter didn't like her pasta and she hasn't met one she hasn't liked until now. I ordered a glass of the house merlot or Shiraz and it turned out to be $18, as only bottle prices are noted on the drink menu. It would be a romantic setting for any couple but we weren't impressed with out food selections."

  • "Great for dinner before theatre. Saw the star of the broadway show at a table near by. :-)"

  • "I first went to Bocca di Bacco the week they opened several years ago and was one of their first customers and have been back several times over the years. The place is outstanding- from the delicious food, the decor, the wine list and service, all elements of the dining experience keep me coming back and suggesting it for friends and colleagues."

  • "A Hells Kitchen gem. Busy energetic place with an ambitious menu that delivers. Drops right in between home style Italian and some of the trendier cuisine offerings. Friendly efficient service staff. Reasonably priced with a very nice wine list."

  • "My husband and I love this restaurant. The food is delicious, the pasta is home made and so far (knock on wood) we haven't had a bad meal in 3years! It is definitely more pricey than your average 'out for dinner' restaurant, so we only go once every 6-7weeks, but it is really a treat. The rice ball app is amazing, and the spinach ravioli is so delicious with the brown butter sauce."

  • "I found this place purely because of appointment availability for a pre-theater dinner with my three friends. But when we walked in, I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere. The tables had little candles, for nice lighting, there was a constant hum of conversation from all the tables without it being too loud, and 90s R&B type music played softly in the background (sounds odd, but it was actually good). The food was delicious and reasonably priced as well--the tortelli with spinach and ricotta was great--and when one friend didn't like her food, they exchanged it for another within 15 minutes and no charge. Genuinely recommend this place, especially if you want a theater dinner not in the middle of times square and with tourists."

  • "This is one of my favorite places for absolutely amazing homemade pasta. Everything tastes fresh, flavorful and delicious. I've been going here for years and they are consistently excellent. A real find."

  • "I've come for a few times already and every time it was great. Few of the times I ordered their special for the night and it was always delicious. Their pasta dishes are delicious as well. If you love wine, they have an exceptional list of wines from Italy. I never had a bad evening dining at this restaurant."

  • "The food was pretty good, the service was pretty good and the prices were pretty good. But it was noisy and the waiters were young with robotic expertise. Maybe it's because I a am a senior and like a more relaxed and friendly atmosphere."

  • "Establishment may bring different year of bottle you ordered. Check . All years are not the same. Management could have cared less when told."

  • "My wife and I had dinner here on Valentine's Day, which happened to be our anniversary. On one of the busiest nights of the year for restaurants, Bocca di Bacco's service did not suffer. You will not be rushed, and your server will offer suggestions (either on food or wine selection) as needed."

  • "Awesome dinner, great dark ambience with loud music is perfect for a date. However, the ambience is a bit too loud for catching up with friends or family."

  • "This was our first time at Bocca di Bacco, and we will be keeping it on our list of potential return visits. We each ate from the pasta menu after calamari and salads. The wine list has items of interest, and the general atmosphere is convivial. Do stop in, but do have a reservation!"

  • "We had a great date-night here. The food and service were excellent. The jovial Italian wait-staff was entertaining and always made sure we were taken care of."

  • "Living in the neighborhood for four years, we frequent Bocca for brunch a decent amount. However this may have been the last time we come here for brunch after the service was horrendous. 1) 2pm reservation - wasn't seated until 2:35 2) After seating, no one came by and took our orders until 2:55/3:00 3) Food didnt show up until 3:40 4) One person in our group asked for no onions in her omelette. The first time it came out with onions so she sent it back to get a new one. The second omelette they brought out 10 minutes later still had onions in it!! 5) Forgot the chocolate sauce for the pancakes Enough was enough. We voiced our complaints and the manager was kind/helpful, but we wont be coming back after the service turned us off."

  • "Food was awful, we had 6 people and there wasn't one of us that liked our meals (including dessert). The place was beautiful and the wine was delicious...but you can get those things anywhere."

  • "We thought it was another restaurant we wanted to try, but we were so surprised the restaurant and food was so amazing! Homemade pasta was delicious and the wine was a compliment to our dinners!"

  • "My second time here several years later and it lives up to my memory! Food reminds me of the cuisine in Italy, and wine list too. Fun environment-- some noise but feel like you are out somewhere popular."

  • "I hope we were alone in having terrible service. It nearly ruined our dinner. The server forgot to list the specials, was always late with our dishes, brought the wrong bill and always added 'I'm so sorry' at the end of a gaffe. We will return and hope for better service."

  • "Thanks to the staff at Bocca di Bacco. First night in NY, having stayed many times before, we stayed local and had the most perfect dinner. Thanks"

  • "I went with three friends and we all enjoyed our meals and the desert. The ambviance is warm and inviting, and the staff was very friendly. The only complaint I have is that the food took a long time to be served."

  • "Every time I go here, it is like old home week. The service is as good as it gets and the wine list is tops. If you want to be treated like royalty, just introduce yourself to the staff. They'll take it from there. Once you find a great place like this, it is hard to get out and explore for other favorites."

  • "Friendly staff- that's the first thing I noticed. Very welcoming. Great Food- I had the bruschetta and the branzino! Delectable! Nice ambience but quite dark. It was really hard to read their brown paper menu. A little more lighting might help guests a lot!"

  • "This restaurant never fails to deliver. Every single time we come here for brunch, we are never disappointed. The service is outstanding and everyone who works there is focused on making the experience enjoyable for the guests. Truly wonderful neighborhood spot and will continue to be a go-to place for us!"

  • "Ours was a group of 5 which include 1 child and a picky non-red meat eater and three regular carnivores. There was something delectable on the menu for each of us. The service was excellent and our waiter kept in contact with us without assuming that oppressive presence that can put you off your meal. The wine was excellent and we felt cocooned in our private world notwithstanding the fact that the place was full and our table conversation lively. General consensus was that we would definitely return at the first available opportunity. Most important for us was that the 11 year old could actually enjoy a meal that did not involve fries!"

  • "I went to dinner with a group of friends on New Year's Eve. We picked the restaurant because we had a) eaten there before and thought the food was good, and b) because it was super close to my apartment and we didn't want to have to travel too far, especially with so many road closures, etc. Bocca di Bacco did not disappoint us again with the quality of food! Their portions are also every generous. The only downside to the evening might have been that my husband's view of the restaurant was in to the kitchen as we were seated at the back because we were a party of six. On a positive note, though, he did comment that the kitchen looked pretty damn clean, so that's a bonus!! We will definitely be back again!"
