A word from Bocca Di Bacco (Chelsea - 20th St.)
Bocca Di Bacco is a New York City Restaurant Group establishment from dynamic restaurateur and New York native Robert Malta, who owns nearly a dozen restaurants throughout the city. “I’ve been in the business 25 years,” Malta says. “I opened the first Bocca Di Bacco in Hell’s Kitchen in 2007 and it quickly became a neighborhood favorite. The Chelsea location is an evolution of what we’ve been offering. There are new menu items, and a more refined look and feel, but it’s still a great spot for the neighborhood any night of the week.”Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "I dined at your restaurant on Saturday April13,2014. We arrived at 5:30 and needed to walk out the door by 6:35 to catch a bus back to Ct. Patrick & Giovanni went over and above to accomodate our party of 4. Wine was great, food was even better, but the one thing that made the night most enjoyable was the music! Earth wind & Fire,Michael Jackson, and Marvin Gaye to name a few. Wonderful! Keep up the good work!"

  • "We are always looking for restaurants near the Joyce that are treats and this is certainly one of them. Have walked by before but when we decided to try something "new" - that is new for us - we chose Bocca. Well prepared and well presented food that is not only tasty but with a flair of taste. And the wine list - particularly those from Sicilia - are great We will be back"

  • "Wouldn't rave about any inventiveness but the ambiance at Bocca Di Bacco makes it a great neighborhood spot . The mozzarella/tomato was spruced up with some marinated asparagus. Pork chops were large and tender with great selection of roasted veggies. Chicken rosemary a solid dish . My husband had the salmon which was a small portion and pretty bland. The desert and coffee were ok, not exceptional. Ambiance and service were lovely"

  • "We've dined here 2or 3 times before, and this time were bringing (sometimes demanding) friends from WDC. A great relief: servers were on their toes, food was perfect. Three of us ordered the seafood pasta special, which was a generous portion and delicious. As in any popular Chelsea restaurant, they would like to turn the table. Set the pace yourself, and you will be rewarded with a wonderful evening."

  • "My fiance and I had dinner here for Valentine's Day. Everything was excellent. Server was very attentive. The food is delicious! Great variety and generous plate size. I would definitely recommend it!!! (Especially for the fact it was Valentine's Day when restaurant usually lose quality because an unusual over abundance of customers all at the same time)"

  • "My man and I spent a wonderful Valentine's Day here. The staff was attentive and sweet and the food was out of this world. I even got a rose at the end of the meal! My one complaint was the music — it would have been nice to have some light, simple music since it is an Italian restaurant, but instead they played odd '90s alternative. So I hope you enjoy your tortellini with a side of Radiohead!"

  • "I understand there are a few of these restaurants dotting Manhattan and I suspect it is because the restaurant group that owns them knows what it is doing. The food was very very good. Both entrees were great, and the mussels appetizer was to die for. I had the tuna special in a creamed capers sauce which was delicious. My dates meal was very good also although what she had escapes me at the moment. Bottom line is the food was very good, the wine was good and the experience was very NY romantic."

  • "I originally had a 6pm reservation and needed to change it to 10pm, they were very accommodating. The food was very good, however the servers were less than attentive. When they weren't roaming around, they were together in groups talking, laughing, and not paying attention to their guests. I would recommend it for the food, but you need patience with the staff"

  • "Great meal, very loud table next to us from Jersey... Meal and service was great though. Would have been nice if the staff offered to move our table away from the loud group who was screaming all night."

  • "Arrive before 4 pm for the fixed price menu. The food is delicious (try the Osso Bucco pasta) and well presented. Dinner is pricey yet worth it. A true find..."

  • "I searched on line for a late lunch Italian place to eat after our walking tour of the highline and picked Bocca based on reviews. When we arrived I was a bit concerned that it was too trendy for a family group, runway/house music and all. We decided to stay anyway since we were hungry and cold. The place looks amazing and we have a sidewalk window table. Food turned out to be great however and the host was very accommodating. Waiter could have been a bit more friendly but all in all our lunch experience was very good."

  • "One of the best of the newer Chelsea restaurants in the mid-price range, and well worth it. I will be eating here often."

  • "The food at this restaurant is pretty good, but their incredibly slow kitchen absolutely lets them down. I was there for lunch and it took over 30 minutes to get our starters then another 30 to get our mains. There is no way a lunch service should take more than 45 minutes unless the diners are lingering. Will never be back and really can't recommend - which is a shame, because the ambiance is nice, the food is good and the servers are friendly."

  • "On the food. Food is just ok. Nothing terrific, memorable or outstanding. It could've been great. They do well on everything else."

  • "The food was amazing. My son and I went there for thanksgiving and I was amazed by the food! The prefixed menu was superior and Well priced! I reccommend everyone in the Chelsea area to go! Better than most places in Italy that I have been!"

  • "Chelsea residents, 3rd time at this restaurant. previous visits the staff needed better 'table skills'. First they were all over the table, then we couldn't get anyone's attention to order coffee or clear plates. This time, we ordered a Chardonnay and were told they were out. reservation 7pm Thursday, and they were out? Offered a more expensive bottle of Chardonnay. We asked for that bottle at the price of the first bottle. Waiter went away, 'to ask the manager', and returned with this answer. "We JUST found a bottle of the first wine you ordered in the basement, and will serve you that, but it has to be chilled first." Seriously? Felt like we were being treated like tourists, or dummies, or both. Not sure we will be back."

  • "We dined on a Monday night and the restaurant was pretty quiet, less than a dozen diners in the whole place. The waiter took our cocktail order, and dinner and wine selection from the huge list. The cocktails arrived with bread and what appeared to be mild tomato salsa. But no sooner had we taken a sip (of each others', as the cocktail menu was full of surprisingly fun options), the appetizers arrived from the kitchen. The eggplant appetizer was great, but we could have used a few moments to wind down from the day with our cocktails before food arrived. I had the lamb shank entree, which was also great. My dinner companions also really loved their food choices. Although the dessert choices looked fun, we passed being too stuffed."

  • "This was a surprise. It is a neighborhood restaurant that really exceeds expectations. It is genuine Italian comparable to most quality restaurants in Italy. It stands out both because there are so few restaurants in NYC that achieve this level of quality & that all 4 diners in our party had superb meals. The only diminishing factor was speakers & music throughout the dining area. Even if the music were favorites the volume was way too loud. Credit to the management that when the loud level of the music was brought to their attention the immediately and for the duration of our meal kept it low. We wholeheartedly recommend Bocca Di Bacco"

  • "I was expecting exceptional pasta (ORECHIETTE IN SALSA DI RAGU D'AGNELLO) which we split as an appetizer. While is was good, it was pretty ordinary. However the steak (TAGLIATA AL TAGLIERE) was perfectly good and left us with a favorable impression of Bocca"

  • "I was disappointed with the food. The fish was too dry, the Cesar's salad was dull, boring and weakly seasoned. It was a let down. The design of the restaurant was nice but the food was very boring and not very enjoyable. I would not recommend this restaurant."

  • "Great food, music was a little to club like though. People were screaming over each other to speak. Which was a little annoying. However the service and food was great"
