  • "Classic wedge, clam chowder to get started, both just right. Waiter was knowledgeable and polite. Water and drinks replenished often. Steak was done to order, dipping sauces always the treat. Sour cream for the baked potato was very tasty, a cut above the usual toppings. All in all, a favorite place for a good meal. I "might" use less salt on the baked potato :-)"

Looking at the plate and tasted it, I strongly believe that the plates were all ready to go and microwaved before serving. Too salty, pork not warm in the inside, just terrible"

  • "We have been to Boca 5 times before this and have always enjoyed superb service and attentive wait staff and amazing food. This time, there is a new chef bringing menu changes and some of our favorite items were gone. The Gaucho Steak, which my husband and I always share was the biggest loss and they also got rid of the Bernaise (sp?) sauce. Plus, we were bringing my sister-in-law who was Argentinian and she was looking for the Argentinian version of chicken fried steak (mellanaisa or something like that) and the waiter said they used to have it but not anymore. The food remained excellent even so. However, they forgot part of our order, didn't refill our water glasses or bring us more bread as they said they would. "

That really made our evening. We had out-of-town guests and they were very impressed with the delicious food and great service. "

  • "My brother and I decided to honor our deceased mother's memory by having dinner on her birthday (May 10). We couldn't have chosen a better restaurant. The food was good, but what gives this place character is its staff. From the moment we entered the restaurant, we were made to feel welcomed. The restaurant decor is lodge like and exudes warmth. The wait staff treated us like extended family members. It was one of the best dining experiences I ever had, especially on such a bittersweet occasion. I was so impressed by our dining experience that I tipped 50%. I'm a generous tipper who normally tips in the 15-25% range. However, I do believe in rewarding exemplary service which the staff at Boca Tavern provided hands-down."

  • "We went to Boca Tavern last night with our taste buds set for the Macaroni and cheese Croquets and BBQ Pork Sliders. We have been there for a few happy hours and always enjoyed them! Unfortunately, they appear to have taken them off the menu:( Not sure why as several friends of mine have also recommended them. Instead,I had the Fettuccini stroganoff and My Fiancé had the fish and chips. The Stroganoff had a good beefy flavor but definitely needed more sour cream. The Fish and chips were excellent with a delicious flaky fish and light crisp coating. The homemade tartar sauce was the perfect combo of pickles and onions too. We fished off our dinner with a Brownie sundae with Chocolate, Coffee and Vanilla ice cream. Definitely yummy. "

  • "We have been going to Boca through all of its incarnations, and every time we love it. we have never had a bad experience there. The duck fat fries are always a highlight! and the steaks, cooked perfectly. We always think of Boca when we take visiting friends out, and we give Boca gift certificates for Christmas gifts! Love it! I was joking with my wife: if i had the TIME, MONEY, and CALORIES, we would eat there very day! haha, she corrected me to say, TIME is no problem, its the MONEY and CALORIES!"

  • "We've been to this restaurant before - when it was just Boca's. It could be hit or miss on the food, everybody at the table didn't always get the same quality. As Boca's Tavern, they seem to have found their stride. Everybody at the table got excellent food and plenty of it. Best vegetable sides ever and I knowit can be hard to serve fresh, simple, yet outstanding veggies. Our wsiter wss attentive without being overbearing. We had a wonderful meal and a wonderful time. Going again? Count on it!"

I am not a meat eater and from past experience the chicken tends to be overly seasoned and the fish is not one of their specialties-the one this evening was farmed. The atmosphere is somewhat dark and not upbeat. They need to provide a chicken dish that would satisfy non meat customers. I have heard this from other diners as well. Eat here for steak only."

  • "Had visited this restaurant when it was Boca Restaurant, this was the first trip to restaurant since change in restaurant food format & name change. Greated pleasantly at door, told hostess that we had a theater date and needed to leave at specific time. Hostess informed our waitperson. We were seated in a quiet area in restaurant. Waitperson come promptly to take order. Had prime rib, which was cooked perfectly and very flavorful, and portions generous; wine choices very good. Waitperson pleasant, efficient, and made sure we were out the door on time for our theater date."

  • "We used to come to Boca for special occasions, but everyone in our family agrees that it's not the same any more. The new menu is not as good, and the pasta dish our daughter ordered was smoky and she didn't finish it. The beef used in our burgers was excellent, but I'd rather go to Phyllis Burgers for twice the burger at half the price. Everything on the menu is overpriced. We will not be back."

  • "We took a chance and tried Boca on Saturday night and it was terrific! We started with the pickles and my husband loved their crispy spiciness. We split the Mediterranean salad which was dressed perfectly. I had fish tacos and the hubby had the burger. They were both great! Will def go again!"

  • "We had a fun night at Boca Tavern. The chicken skewers were delicious and the flatiron special with mushroom mash was amazing. Dessert menu didn't really entice suspect, so we had the brownie sundae between four. Very sweet and fun way to end the meal. It was more than enough between 4, although it says it's got 2."

  • "Just when I thought Boca Tavern couldn't get any better they earned yet another place in my culinary heart with great service. We were there with a particularly clever and snarky bunch and our server kept pace with us, dishing back bright comments and providing us with very useful information about the wine and food. And our group knows their wines. We wanted a quieter table and Boca staff was quick to responde by combining a couple of tables further from the open kitchen. A suggestion to anyone who books a table: request the side room if you want real quiet. There was something for everyone and the one of our group said it was the best cioppino she'd had in years."

  • "I had called ahead to find out when prime rib would be served and was told Sat. or Sun. I made our reservation and we looked forward all week to our prime rib meal as we rarely eat beef. When we got there and the server offered the menus I told him "not necessary" as we knew exactly what we wanted, prime rib with that big old baked potato, a meal we had enjoyed many times in the past. He told us it wasn't on the menu and I told him I had called ahead and was assured we could have it Sunday night. We couldn't and ended up eating salmon (and old standby for us). What we should have done was excuse ourselves and gone to Wild Fox which has great prime rib but is noisy!"

  • "Last year we had moved from the city to Marin. I didn't know where to take my husband for his birthday until someone suggested Boca Tavern. When we arrived the place was packed and was really loud but quickly forgot that since it was half off of all bottles of wine. Chose a nice Pinot and then looked at the menu. I am not much of a steak gal but thought I would try their filet. Well...it was the best filet I have ever had. So decided to go back for his birthday this year and the steak was as good as I remembered it."

  • "My husband and I just dined at the Boca Tavern first time since it changed over from Boca Steak and we both thought it was FANTASTIC all around. The menu offers many new dishes other than steak and everything from appetizer to dessert was five stars! The restaurant also seems to be busier than before with their new menu which is great. I highly recommend the beet salad and the fettuccine stroganoff."

  • "We ate at boca a while back when it was a steakhouse, and found it expensive and of low quality, so when they changed over to a tavern format, we decided to go again. Unfortunately, very little has changed aside from the name. My burger was bland, and not cooked right. The chocolate cake was dry and gritty. The service was friendly, but inattentive, except for keeping our water filled, though where the other tables we could see had normal water glasses, ours appeared to be candle holders. It was very pricy, especially drinks: I ordered one of their signature manhattans, which came with a gimmicky cherry frozen in an ice cube taking up all but about a sip of the glass. Disappointing. we won't be back, even with another format swap."

  • "We used to love, love Boca. But this week I took my long time friend who is a chef in Virginia to dinner at the new Boca Tavern promising her she would be impressed - instead I was embarassed. The beets on the beet salad, while presented nicely, were mushy and overcooked. The charred brocolini had only the flavor of the wood oven and was disappoiningly undercooked. It is also misspelled on the menu as we thought we were getting chard and brocolini. The pork chop was nice but not memorable, the best of the evening were the mashed potatoes and the sticky ribs. The best and only reason to go to Boca now is for their Happy Hour. The dining room is too bright and cold - not inviting. I long for the Boca of yore."

  • "For years this restaurant has been reliable for food and service. The interior is warm and comfortable and the service nicely paced and appropriately friendly. The calamari appetizer is a good choice to start.....hot, crispy and delicious with a great dipping sauce. Salmon and hangar steak entrées were both perfect. Have been enjoying this place for years and will definitely be going back. Good vibe all the way around."
