Diner Reviews
  • "If you don't have to have a burger & fries and you want a selection of interesting varied choices Boca Bistro is a great choice. Great selection of tapas and it is fun to do dinner this way - lots of smaller portions to share. Entrees are also very good. Nice selection of wine by the glass. The decor is rustic and it has a good atmosphere. The service is always great."

  • "My husband and I went for a "date night". We had a great corner table. The wine was excellant, as was the service. We enjoyed 2 appetizers and shared the paella. A delicious evening. Would like to go back and try some other dishes!"

  • "Special occasion dinner. Reservation seating right on time. Seated near front window in main area, quite noisy but ok. Food was great, service good and attentive. Next time will ask to be seated in other room for more desirable ambience."

  • "I can't speak adequately enough about how much my wife and I liked or dining experience at Boca. We chose five tapas and our server did a great job of bringing them out at a good pace. The tapas captured the flavors of Spain. The sangria was smooth and not overly sweet. If I had one recommendation to make, it would be for the inclusion of Spanish stylecoffees on their desert menu."

  • "My wife and I took a much needed escape from our children for a night out in Saratoga! Dinner at the Boca Bistro was just what the doctor ordered! Great service, relaxing atmosphere and the food was delightful. We will go back!"

  • "Great food and choices for Restaurant week. It was a bit noisy but the service was great!"

  • "I've never eater at a Spanish restaurant before. I'm 100% Italian and a foodie. I do like most cultural foods besides Italian. My friends and I went because of Saratoga Restaurant Week and my friend heard it was good. Good was an understatement. I just sent an email to a foodie friend saying that the mussels w/chorizo in red sauce was one of the best or really the best entree I have eaten since I moved to this area 12 years ago. My friends and I shared all courses. The food seemed fresh and homemade with depth of flavor. I even went to the open kitchen area as we were leaving to compliment the chef that made my mussels. I hope to go back and try their paella which I think I saw on the main menu. Loved making a res on line."

  • "We had the seafood Paella. Being of Spanish decent I must say it was one of the best ice ever had. It was also a large portion which is how I like it ! The service was great, it was a little noisy because it was full of people. I guess they like the food too. If you're hungry , go with the paella!"

  • "best friend and I went out to celebrate and found the atmosphere and service outstanding as always. the waiter was conversational and charming, the food was full of rich flavors--who else could elevate the fava bean to such heights? and even though they claim these are 'small bites', we had more than we could eat even though we shared. Atmosphere--always good."

  • "I'm a regular at Boca. Love their tapas-- huge selection, great quality. I brought some friends from out of town who'd never had either tapas or paella before for dinner. The tapas, as usual were awesome. However, this is the second time I've had the paella, and both times I've been disappointed…the rice and veggies are fine, but the shellfish are overcooked, dried out and chewy. Boca's seafood tapas are always excellent, but it seems like they leave the mussels and clams in the cooker too long when they make the paella. I hope they read this and fix it for the future."

  • "We chose from the small dishes though there was a vegetarian entree available. The 3 course dinner special however did not work for vegetarians. Everything tasted delicious. The cabernet and chiante were excellent."

  • "I have eaten everywhere and this is a find. The tapas plates are varied, done with great presentation and are an excellent value. I am already thinking about my next meal here in this tastefully done resort town. Octopus, really.....!"

  • "We had dinner at the Boca Bistro on Fri 1/24. My wife & I took our daughter as she was headed back to college that weekend. We had a reservation & the table was ready when we arrived. When we were seated, it was next to very large party. It was quite noisy at the time which was hard to carry on a conversation. Our waitress, who very polite & professional advised us that there was a Farmers convention at the city center that weekend. This was the only complaint I had. The food, wine & service was excellent ! My wife & I always enjoy the ambience when we dine at the Boca Bistro !"

  • "Sadly, the service was lacking and unccordinated... We ordered the chef's selection of cheeses 10 minutes before we ordered small plates so we could enjoy them with our wine, but the small plates came out first. The paella was very dry."

  • "This was my second time dining at Boca, and the food has been fabulous both times. As a vegetarian, it is wonderful to have so many choices on the very varied menu. I love choosing a variety of small plates. The stuffed piquillo peppers are not to be missed! This visit, we were seated in the room with the antique doors, which are very cool, but the room was so noisy we had to shout at each other to be heard. We were hoping to just decompress a bit and found that impossible in the rowdy atmosphere. On another night it might have been fun, but if you want to be able to have a conversation, opt for the other room or go early. Tables are also very close together."

  • "I really like the idea of Boca. Food is sometimes amazing, but inconsistent. One two separate occasions we were given something free because of a issue with the order. Really great service, especially from the manager/host, since he wanted to make things right. However I go out to pay for dinner and would prefer consistency over free. Food choices are fun, just haven't nailed down the wow factor in each dish from a execution standpoint. Clearly the vision is awesome. The back room, where I was seated this time (first time in the front) is ungodly loud. They need to figure out the acoustics. I will give this place another chance, but it will be a while. I want it to succeed and suspect the owner is committed to getting it perfect."

  • "Boca Bistro has become one of our go-to restaurants in Saratoga because the service is fantastic, the ambiance is beautiful and the food is unique, delicious and consistent. We always have a top notch experience when we go there."

  • "My friends took me here for the paella and tapas! Wow! And the sangria (red) is out of this world. Everything is served exquisitely. The warm bread and olives on the table set the mood for a Spanish feast. And we were not disappointed. The staff had been alerted as to my birthday, and they brought me a piece of the flourless chocolate torte with a candle and ALL the wait staff sang Happy Birthday entirely in Spanish! Fantastic night! Try the stuffed pepper tapas and the egg omellette. The Catalan paella is the best!"

  • "We really like the food here. We mostly ordered tapas shared at the, with three entrees shared as well. Based upon traditional Spanish cuisine, but not a slave to it. Two minor issues. The first time we went we were seated at a table that was adjacent to an open stairwell that leads right to the door. It wasn't too cold that night at 30 degrees F, but it was chilly as the door opened and closed. The second time, it was below zero but we were seated in a section away from the door, so it wasn't so cold, thank goodness. Second issue. The first meal was well-staged -- the appetizers were brought out in stages. The second time, everything was brought out at once, and was at little overwhelming."

  • "We had tapas, salads, and a couple of entrees. All were very well prepared and the waitress was great about "staging" them, so we didn't get too many dishes at once so things would get cold. Based upon traditional Spanish dishes. The fried calamari was especially good -- a dusting of flour and spices, and not the excess of breading with calamari buried inside that one usually finds. We were also allowed to share a couple of entrees, which many restaurants won't allow or charge extra for. We went in December and because there were six of us, we were seated at the only large table. It was facing the door on one side, and it was cold every time the door was opened. They need to do something to block the cold, maybe a double door?"

  • "Good food but not from Spain, at all. If you have been in Spain and you know what an egg-potato omelette is (tortilla de patatas) you'll be disappointed. Other than that, fine. Good service."
