Bob's Steak & Chop House is ranked as one of the top steakhouses in the country. USDA Prime Beef seasoned and broiled perfectly. On top of that, the salads are huge, the shrimp are monsters and the bread is to die for. Our service is experienced, the wine list is extensive and the drinks stiff. If you’re not a regular already, come by and let us prove why we're so proud of what we do. Bob's Steak & Chop House...Just like the last time...Just like the next time.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "I had filet mignon, and the beef was tender and juicy. Portions were huge. Service very attentive. However, my family and I were astonished at the high prices, and we frequently travel and are used to paying top dollar for top restaurants. While the food was good, it wasn't great, and the value was thus not there."

  • "We booked this place for my wifes birthday while on vacation from Houston. My first mistake was not realizing this was part of the Omni hotel, nothing against Omni I just thought we were going to be dining at a stand alone steak house. The steaks were good, no complaints there. I had the bone in Rib-eye and she had the Fillet, these were on par with other steak houses such as Morton's, Vik and Anthony's, etc... Our waitress was nice and friendly, however she was slow and unorgainzed, it may have been one of her first days as she appeared young so we took it with a grain of salt. Overall, I would recommend this place if wanting a decent steak for a general night out, however I am sure there are much better places."

  • "I had dined here before many years ago, and decided it was time to return. The meal was just as I remembered it, fabulous! The service was equally as wonderful."

  • "We usually don't spend this kind of money on dinner, but it was a special occasion and when in Rome, etc..... Blown Away!! Great food, great service, wonderful bar tenders, the best hotel staff (every single one) in SF!!! I could go on and on but the bottom line is, if you have a special night or can afford it more often, you will not be disappointed."

  • "Bob's is a must in San Francisco! You won't find a better Kansas city strip steak anywhere. All the dishes we've tried have been yummy, even the giant, perfectly cooked carrot is a special treat ( I know, a giant carrot? ) but don't miss it!"

  • "Very nice dining experience. Comfortable and pleasant atmosphere. Service was timely, friendly, and helpful in terms of recommendations and explanation of dishes. The rib eye was super good and flavorful. Would eat here again."

  • "Had unexpected delay in arriving but they were very cooperative in changing our scheduled arrival. Once there, the service was superb, the food very tasty and we had a wonderful time."

  • "In short: $58 Bone-in-Ribeye - overcooked, and they ignored our firing instructions Onion rings - flaccid, greasy and without flavor Creamed spinach - crusted in cheese, also w/o flavor Service - pretty much like banquet waiters, they were nice but no sense of pacing or the experience This restaurant is clearly part of the hotel's food service department now, as it looked, tasted and was delivered like a big hotel banquet - not like a steakhouse, and not worthy of the prices. Izzy's, Alfred's and House of Prime Rib are much better options. Everything about this experience screams "cost cutting".... Won't be making this mistake again. I used to like this place, and I am bummed that I spent $250 on this!"

  • "Joined visiting friends who were staying at the hotel on a Thursday evening for dinner, just to make it easy for them. Noise level was anominable and unavoidable throughout the restaurant, despite the fact that the bar is not even physically attached to the restaurant. Service was great and servers were very attentive and knowledgable about wine and food. Blew cheese salad as were described as OK and asparagus and mozzarella with tomato salads were bland and non-descript. Salmon and shrimp were nicely prepared, but the ribeye steak, and afterall this is a steak house, was thin and without flavor. Wildly expensive to boot. We would never return and I think our guests would hoof it to another restaurant should they stay at the hotel again."

  • "I've eaten there for over 15 years 2-3 times a week for lunch and obviously I love it. The food, the atmosphere, the location, and especially the people--all the highest quality. From the hostesses/hosts to the busboys they are all super friendly and accommodating. I've taken countless people there who make it there favorite as well."

  • "We had a wonderful meal at Bob's Steak House. The filet mignon melted in your mouth. Service could not have been better. Definitely will go back."

  • "If you are in the mood for a great rib eye or NY steak this is the place to go to. The steak was grilled to perfection, very tender and delicious seasoning. Our friends especially loved the addictive very crispy fried calamari and the key lime pie."

  • "I have been here several times over 10 years. The steaks are fabulous, the service is poor. They barely speak English. Onion rings are terrible. I ordered an Absolute Mandrin Vodka, I am a vodka expert, they substituted Hangar One. They were then in shock that I knew it was not Absolute and named Hangar as the substitute. Perhaps I just expected more from Bobs than I should have."

  • "Bob's is an amazing steakhouse. The filet mignon, delicious, the pork chop, expertly cooked. A great place for any special occasion that demands delicious meat."

  • "I truly enjoyed the food at Bob's. I had the Pork Chops and they were two of the best I've had in my life. The only negative for the evening was the service ws a little slow. We were not acknowledged by a server for at least 10-15 after i arrived. THe service did get beter as the evening progressed, so all-in-all, I enjoyed the evening."

  • "We had a great time at Bob's. It was a really nice way to spend Christmas eve in San Francisco. The beef was tender and full of flavour, and all of the food tasted great. The service was friendly and relaxed, but attentive."

  • "Had dinner in cozy relaxing private booth after 2 weeks away from home. The wait staff that assisted our server Mo was outstanding. It was very disappointing that they did not have the porterhouse steak which was one of the paramount reasons we chose Bob's for this visit. We were happy with our second choices and appreciated that the chef comped us dessert for the disappointment. The calamari appetizer at Bob's is one of the best served in SF and we cannot seem to bypass it to try other dishes. All serving portions are generous and we had them for lunch the next day."

  • "I've eaten some of the best steak in the country over the past 6 months. From Lugers to David Burke's and St. Elmos to Keene's in Manhattan. Bob's Bone-in Ribeye is by far the best steak of them all! Always a must when I come into town."

  • "I took my girlfriend here for 2 year anniversary and it was very nice. I put a note on my open table reservation to put us in a private booth if available and sure enough we were put in a private booth. Very professional place where you feel valued. Food is excellent. Prime rib and duck were amazing"

  • "We went for Christmas Eve dinner expecting a nice quiet good meal. Unfortunately there were a lot of screaming kids. The parents finally took them out (several times) but brought them back only to have them scream again. None of the staff went to the parents to ask them to remove the children. We would have enjoyed this place were it not for the children. Perhaps you can have some rules regarding children. I would guess that the people with the children would not be repeat or regular customers in any event. Our Christmas Eve dinner was not pleasant!"

  • "The food, appetizers, cocktails, and desserts were absolutely FANTASTIC!!! We have been to most of the steakhouses in SF and Bob's is at the absolute top."

  • "We arrived on time for our reservation and Bob's was almost empty. However, the hostess tried to sit us right at the kitchen door and a bus station in the furthest corner of the restaurant. Who does that??? I promptly said I would not sit there and she moved us maybe one table over to which I said no and sat us ourselves in one of the many empty better tables. Who does she think she is? When you charge $18 for a martini you need to have staff that know what they are doing. Food is good but experience not memorable at all. Been there many other times and had much better experiences in the past. We won't be back. Too many other great places to spend $300 in SF."

  • "Just ok. Steak was well prepared and to my liking. However why do all the steaks have to come with specific potatoes and vegs? At these prices why can't I choose what I want to accompany my steak. A bit too much restaurant system formula for my liking. Also have you ever heard of a fine steak house not offering bernaise sauce? We were staying at the Omni and hoped the restaurant would be better. It's a franchise and sure felt like it. Looks a lot like a bar that attached steak house to it. Not what I was hoping for."

  • "Lovely, dark traditional steak house. Great bar with interesting cocktails. We had some festive holiday themed drinks which I thought was a nice touch. Amazing steak, scampi and glazed carrots! Try the skillet potatoes! Yummy!"

  • "We had a delicious meal at Bob's on Christmas day. Wonderful steak (and even my mom's fried shrimp were very good). Waiter was very knowledgeable and gave us terrific advice on menu items. Drinks from the bar were perfect. Pricey, but worth it. Our leftovers were enough for a second meal."

  • "We went to Bob's on Christmas Eve, there were 5 of us. The food was good, but there were a couple of families with screaming kids that kind of dampened the mood for us. The Kansas City Strip steak was great, and my son had a fabulous Prime Ribeye. The glazed carrot (one big carrot) was great, and I don't even like cooked carrots! Overall, it was a good meal, but nothing special (compared to Morton's or Ruth's Chris, etc)"

  • "This was our second visit to Bob's and won't be our last. Does what a significant and established steakhouse should, and more. Discovered the semi-private cabin dining on this visit. Excellent!"

  • "I placed my reservation on-line and received a very romantic area for my wife and I. The ambience was perfect, the service was exceptional and the food was superb. We both ordered steaks, bone-in rib eye with glazed carrots and baked potatoes. The meat was done perfectly and so tender you could almost cut it with a knife. The veggies were delicious and complemented the meat. We are both wine lovers and usually prefer a nice Napa or Sonoma wine, but after looking at the extensive wine list, settled for a delicious French Bordeaux. All in all, one fantastic evening. I strongly recommend it for that special occasion when you truly want to impress that special person and make them feel extra special."

  • "I have an office on Montgomery Street. I was looking for an amazing restaurant for a client to celebrate the release of his book. I booked reservations at the Omni Hotel and saw that they had an highly recommended restaurant in the hotel. We had dinner there and it was the most wonderful experience. The service, the ambiance and the food we spectacular. i highly recommend this restaurant if you want to impress your clients and or friends/family."

  • "Bob's represents old school chop house, and meat lovers will not be disappointed. I was torn between the Kansas City Strip and the rack of lamb. I decided on the rack of lamb, which I ordered "more than rare, less than medium rare, call it rare plus." The chef nailed it! I had intended on eating four chops and taking the rest home, but I ate the whole rack at the restaurant. Try the pickles and roasted red peppers on the table; fantastic! Side dish was creamed corn which was very sweet and rich; could have been dessert. For dessert, I ordered the Banana Nut Rum Bread Pudding, and I was quite pleased. I walked out sated and went home to sleep off the hearty meal. Bottom line; Bob's is a worthy place for great dining in San Francisco."
