  • "wanted to check out this restaurant on the recommendation of a few friends, wasn't disappointed! for the restaurant week prix fixe menu, $35 brought you a crisp salad, filet mignon/broiled salmon/porkchop with your choice of a side, and chocolate cake or carrot cake for dessert. Andy, our server, was very gracious, kind, attentive, especially with 2 very young children in tow. not all servers show the same level of respect to diners with children. Andy blew me away with how friendly he was to us and to the kids. Excellent restaurant, SUPERB service. i would definitely come back because of the service alone."

  • "The entire experience was wonderful. Our server Andy was attentive without being hovering, very knowledgable of the food & extensive wine offerings, and very personable. General Manager Partick was present, friendly and genuinely interested in our experience. He takes great pride in his restaurant, and it shows in every detail. Even gave us a personal tour of the wine celler & kitchen. And of course, the food was perfect, and cocktails from the bar were outstandingly prepared. Will definitely patronize Bob's again and often."

Had the petit filet and double-cut pork chop...both were tender and delicious. Even the warm loaf of bread was exceptional!   • "Bobs Chop house was really good. We had great service and a nice, quiet dining experience. The bread and jar of pickles and peppers was nice and different from other steakhouses. We ordered steak entrees with glazed carrot and baked potato. As our servers brought out plates we were laughing at site of the carrot on plate. Everything tasted phenomenal however I didn't like the glaze from the carrot on my steak because they placed the steak carrot and a big potato on the plate but overall presentation of the food on the plate was hideous. I would suggest cutting the carrots into coins and maybe putting some green on the plate along with the steak/potato to give a color to the presentation of the food! in all great food, work on presentation"

  • "I'm not much of a steak eater, but the steak here is the best I have ever tried! I have been to a number of great steak houses in Chicago, New York, and Houston. The quality of the meat and this is a preparation make this restaurant stand out. I also highly recommend the carrot cake, which was spectacular and moist. 4 kids, macaroni and cheese is a must order."

  • "My husband took me to Bob's to celebrate my birthday and our waiter, Paul, recommended an off the menu steak called the tomahawk. It is 2 grade cuts higher than USDA prime and is big enough to share with someone. Not only was the steak to die for, the entire experience was. We have definitely put Bob's on our favorite restaurant list."

  • "I had the filet which was prepared extremely well -- still having dreams about it. The meal comes with two sides (glazed carrot and choice of potato) which was included in the price. If I had a preference, I'd rather be able to pick the sides as the sides were okay, but raised the price of the entree. It is good if you want dress casual and still want a really good meal. The staff was very attentive. Oh, and the peanut butter brownie sundae was remarkable -- we shared it between 4 people and we still didn't finish it...not due to trying :) Overall, it was an enjoyable experience."

  • "I have been to many of the local steak places around San Antonio. I can say that the ribeye I had at Bob's had more flavor than any other I can remember. It was cooked to exactly the level of doneness I like (medium rare) and was rich with flavor. The carrot was an interesting twist. It tasted more like a brown-sugar baked sweet potato than a carrot! The wine list was as extensive as I have seen. Very good choices in almost all categories (except inexpensive). We had a wonderful bottle of Zin, recommended by the staff, that went very well with our meal. Bob's is a good choice for steak lovers wanting an 'old club' restaurant experience."

  • "Bob's is certainly among the premier steak houses in San Antonio. The food and service was outstanding. We stayed and chatted for quite awhile and the restaurant filled and emptied and filled again...on a Thursday evening! While the food and service match Bohanan's, the prices do too, so this is a special treat for most. Despite carpets and sound absorbing ceiling treatments, the restaurant is noisy....but it adds to the atmosphere. Oh, portions are on the large size...so you'll probably be taking home another meal! We'll be back."

Well know in the Dallas area where it originated, this location has the same great wine list, dry-aged beef, and glazed carrot you will find there. Dark mahogany, subdued lighting, and great food. The serving staff is a little young, but they will mature with more experience."

However, they missed it on little things like a bit too long between salads and delivery of entrees while others who arrived after us were receiving theirs. Also an up charge to have a side vegetable instead of the included potato is a bit petty at their entre prices. I had the flounder special which at $45 was okay but not memorable and definitely over priced. The NY strip of my dining partner was tasty but certainly thinner cut than any other chop house in town. Finally, her take home food never appeared after boxing until we had to ask about it just before leaving. Receiving an explanation of "it was up front" by the hostess. Were we supposed to know that?"

  • "Couldn't have been any better. My wife and I just stopped in for dinner and it was wonderful. She had the chopped salad to start and finished with crab cakes and loved them. I had the small rib eye and it was cooked perfectly and was one of the best steaks I've had. Prices were very reasonable for an upper end steak house. We will definitely be back."
