Bob's Steak and Chop House - AustinFirst time visitTotal dining experience was excellent. Will definitely return and recommend.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect DinnerI ate here shortly after the opening a year or so ago, and cannot believe it took me so long to return! We booked online and requested a corner booth for our anniversary. The hostess was so accommodating, even when we had to push our time back thirty minutes. Michael, our server, was incredibly attentive and addressed my food allergy as soon as we sat down. We ordered the Caesar salad and Lobster bisque to start. Both were AMPLE portions and very delicious. For entrees, we had the 12oz Ribeye and Rack of Lamb. Our meats were cooked perfectly! Bob's serves all entrees with a huge glazed carrot and choice of potato, so we chose a fully dressed baked potato and the skillet potatoes with peppercorn gravy. YUMMY! Total bill with drinks = $122!!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMreally surprise meMy husband n I is always looking for a new place to eat a good steak. This was the best place to go we enjoy ed everything plans tho go back soon.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMTruly a surprise. The nameTruly a surprise. The name leads one to expect a pedestrian experience. Not so. Great food and excellent service.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic Place for a CelebrationWe went here to celebrate a college graduation. Our waiter was fantastic. He was very energetic and helpful. He really made it a dining experience rather than just a meal. The food was out of this world. I have never had a better meal. It was definitely a step up from a Flemmings, Ruth's Chris, or Eddie V's (also a step up in price, but worth it in my opinion). The portions are very generous (a "petite filet" was 9 oz). Overall, a very special and excellent experience.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Tomahawk Ribeye! We had a fabulous meal, everything was excellent including the ceasar salad and lobster bisque. We sat upstairs which is the best part! Great view and cool set up. The only thing was the service was pretty terrible to start. She wasn't tending to us and got our drink orders wrong, also very slow.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst TimerThis was our first time to Bob's and it was fantastic-can't wait to go back!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGood dining experienceThe wait service was excellent. All of our steaks were under cooked. We asked for medium but we received rare. The correction was immediately made and fresh side items were served again. I would have liked a complimentary dessert due to the delay in our dinner. However everyone was gracious and apologetic. The pickles were a great treat. Go figure! We had the Tomahawk Ribeye, a porterhouse and their signature ribeye. The Tomahawk was a cut above prime and was one of the best steaks I have had. The others were similar in flavor to other steak houses in the area. Bob's has made the list for a return visit.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat FoodWe have eaten at this restaurant on many occasions. Once again tonight, it did not disappoint. The New York Strip is wonderful as well as the fillet mignon. The bread is among the best of any restaurant. The mac & cheese is a must as is the creamed spinach. Service was great and the atmosphere perfect. This is a true gem in Austin.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous! The Lobster bisque was delicious and so were the steaks my husband and I ordered! Great atmosphere and our waitress, Melita, was so friendly and made us feel so welcome. She did a great job!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was great as usual,Everything was great as usual, service and food are always outstanding.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMA Perfect Evening OutMy wife and I enjoyed our special evening out, beginning with our excellent waiter, Eric. He made our whole dining experience even better, by his professional, attentive, helpful demeanor. Our prime rib and salmon dinners were delightful, as was our salads and vegetables. Dessert was an excellent brownie and coffees which capped off an overall fun dining experience!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMA full experienceGreat place. Great food. Great service. Slow kitchen. Since we had a show to make, we allowed for two hours to eat. Service was timely and fun. Still took all of two hours. Not busy at the time so don't know why the food was slow. Great place and food though.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Food, Good Experience! We have eaten at Bob's in Dallas many times and it has always been a favorite steak house. We were excited to see there was a Bob's in Austin as we visit there often. I had to compare it to Bob's in Dallas and I would give it a 9 out of 10. The steak was as delicious, but a little more fat than I like. The carrot was huge! I think if the carrots were smaller, they would have been tastier. Wine menu was great, and service outstanding!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMService was outstanding (Shane).Service was outstanding (Shane). Ambience was very good, the upstairs outdoor bar area is fantastic. My bone-in ribeye was ordered medium, yet served very rare. Not memorably flavorful...mushrooms were excellent, rest of the veggies so-so.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious steaks for special nightI would give Bob's overall 5 stars if it wasn't for their valet. I know its stressful to have several cars at one time, but don't be rude. Then after dinner we pay the $8 valet and give him a $20, he takes the money and gives us his back as if the transaction is done. Then he turns around and says "Oh you expect some change, I thought you were a high roller". $12 tip to a person that was rude since the beginning - I dont think so! Regarding the food, it was outstanding. Our table had ribeye and new york strip. All the steaks were cooked perfectly (NY strip was extra delicious). Go with the potatoes with gravy. Dessert was brownie sundae - delicious. The entire staff made my friends' anniversary extra special. We will be back soon.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMSecond time to eat there.Second time to eat there. Great food, service, and bar. Overall experience surpasses many of the other steak houses in downtown Austin.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Best Steakhouse...Had two great dinners!
The veal chop was incredible, huge and perfectly cooked.
Chris the server was crisp and extremely helpful on the wine selections.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGo hungry here! ExcellentGo hungry here! Excellent steaks, AMAZING bread - don't eat all of it (which is hard to do) or you won't be able to eat your dinner. Salads are good too. Sides - I love the spinach, perfectly perfectly prepared with fresh garlic pods. and, of course, a baked potato with all the trimmings round out the meal.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWait staff was excellent.Wait staff was excellent.
Great location to a nice dinner prior to a show at the Moody Theater.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMTonite was a swing-and-a-missBoth my date and my buddy's date ordered steak. One was a prime rib and the other was a filet. My date expected hers to be cooked medium, but when it came out, it was charred. The waiter brought her a new steak. Later, we looked closer at my buddy's date's prime rib, and half of it was charred as well. The only reason I'd go back is because they took both of the steaks off our bill. On a good note, the sides (caramelized carrot, mashed potatoes, mac & cheese) was awesome. The place is really upscale ... I just hope next time the steaks turn out better - I can't see how they can't.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMy new wife took me to Bob'sMy new wife took me to Bob's for my birthday recently and it was fantastic.I would recommend it to anyone.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMNice nightDinner was nice. They had the back dinning room set up with the final 4 on the TV and gave you the option of sitting in that dining room or the other. Service was good and would reccomend to others.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMMy Experience at Bob'sAfter hearing about how good Bob's in Dallas was from my girlfriend, we decided to head over to celebrate our anniversary. From the moment we were seated with prompt waiter service I knew I was going to enjoy my time at Bob's. We chose a wonderful bottle of wine called Prisoner; retails for $40 priced at $99. I ordered the 28 oz. bone-in ribeye special of the night and my girlfriend ordered the 6 oz. filet mignon which is her favorite cut. The only comparable steak I've ever had in terms of perfect seasoning and flavor would be the ribeye I had at Olives by Todd English in Las Vegas. This steak easily topped the filet mignon at III Forks and the ribeye at ALC.
Our waiter was prompt and I never felt like anything took too lon3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThe steak was okay, but notThe steak was okay, but not spectacular. The big disappointment was the tomato, onion and mozzarella salad. The mozzarella was old and hard, not at all fresh. I would have sent it back, but I had promised my wife a special evening and did not want to make a fuss. The brocolli was undercooked despite our instructions that it be steamed longer than usual. The food was definitely not as good as our previous visit.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMMelt In Your Mouth Steaks! We were in town for a conference and after a long day of seminars went looking for a good steak. And boy did we find one!! From the warm bread to delicious wine to the melt in your mouth entrees, everything about Bob's was worth the trip. Not to mention the friendly, knowledgable staff.
PS - I did not have room for dessert but got carrot cake to go - YUM!!3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMNice birthday celebrationThey did a great job making my husband's birthday special including having a card at the table when we were seated. Really nice touch. Our service was outstanding. I thought the filet wasn't very tasty. Everything else was nicely prepared but not extraordinary. Nice ambience and great staff.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
