A word from Bobo's
Bobo's is a stylish destination for the most exquisite steak and crab in the City. With antiqued red walls, colored glass light fixtures and striped tablecloths, the restaurant is like a plush Venetian jewel box. Executive Chef Andrea Froncillo has created a delectable menu that showcases his signature Italian-Asian fusion. The steak is USDA certified prime beef, dry-aged four to six weeks - longer than anywhere else on the West Coast! The crab is Dungeness, harvested from the Pacific Ocean and roasted in a savory garlic-butter sauce that is positively addicting.Continued

  • "If it were not for the delicious filet mignon on the bone I would have no reason to return here. Table bread looks great but does not taste great. Side dishes are small in portion size and look DOA. Wine list is expensive. The decor is a maze of a bordello. Bathrooms are a story in itself. WIGB? for the on the bone filet and a glass of wine only. Overall- There are too many other steak house choices in SF for this one to stand out."

  • "I know that the decor is a little dated but we went in on a Sunday and the service was excellent. The food was moist, the steak was tender and the baha rum was excellent. We had a great night out."

  • "Have been a regular at Bobos for a few years now. My go to order of a medium rare bone in filet with twice baked potato (which I rate as the best steak I have tried in over 20 countries). Tried the 49er porterhouse for the first time last week. Absolutely incredible. Highly recommend to everyone the goes here."

  • "First experience at the infamous Bobo's, and left with my pocket empty and feeling like I had eaten at a greasy spoon . Restaurant old and not very clean. Bus station close to dining area. Un kept ... Lemon drops lacked liquor, but were tasty. Bone in filet mignon tasty . Crab baked in butter, served un-cracked. Mac n cheese was not good, Brussels were dripping in butter, twice baked potatoe best part of meal... Just wasn't impressed!"

  • "If you're near Fort Mason and want a *wonderful* place for dinner, Bobo's fills the bill. Their steaks and crab are fantastic. The appetizers and accompaniments are top notch as well. Note that this is a place for a classically-large SF dinner, not one of the trendy places where you need to stop at Carl's Jr. on the way home because you're already hungry. At Bobo's you *will* go home satisfied, both with the quality and quantity of the food. Reservations necessary."

  • "My husband and I enjoy trying new steakhouses when we can..we already have our favorite spots but like to venture out..decided to finally try bobo's after months of passing by it and from the recommendation of a friend..I made reservations for 6:45..my husband and I were running a little behind so I called and was told I had a 15min grace period so I better "hurry up" really?!? I'm coming an hour away you can hold my reservation for 17min?!! We made it just in time and were promptly seated upstairs..the room we were put in was HOT, I mean steaming hot! No air just a bunch of bodies squeezed in a small area..the hot room made it very uncomfortable..the service was ok not great..ordered the surf & turf steak was cooked well nothing to rave on"

  • "First visit to Bobo's and it was spectacular! My daughter ordered the crab and she and my husband both agreed that it was the best they ever had! I ordered a petite filet and my husband got the bone-in filet - borh were perfectly prepared and delicious! Bobo's was recommended by a friend and was definitely a perfect choice!"

  • "This place may be good for a romantic dinner for two. The lighting was verrrrry low, and it was hard to have a conversation because of the noise level. The steak was good, although I don't go to too many places that make you order a separate side (the steak just came a la carte), which was kind of off-putting. I had the bone-in filet mignon and a side of their parmesan pancetta brussel sprouts. The sprouts were a little greasy, but the steak was nice and juicy with a great crisped outside. I may come here again someday."

  • "We ordered the bone-in fillet mignon and shrimp on the skillet. Steak was incredible and the shrimp as well. The gentleman at the table next to us was well lit and loud but cannot fault the restaurant for that. Overall we had a great time and would definitely go again."

  • "I love BoBo's! The décor is awesome, food is fabulous, service isn't bad, & free valet parking. Everything from starters, to main course, to side dishes were delicious!"

  • "The decor is ridiculous and the food was way over priced for the quality, the steak lacked real flavor and I found it to be even mealy at times. I would not go back,"

  • "Overall, good but strange... We were sat at the back of the second level in a small area with a few tables and no windows. There was a very large group and without windows they were extremely loud. The group was friendly but we had a hard time talking because of the noise. Maybe the restaurant should avoid big groups in this tiny area. We started by ordering a bottle of wine. When the wine was brought to us the vintage was incorrect (2011 instead of the listed 2009). Before it was opened, we sent it back and ordered another bottle and the same thing happened (2010 instead of 2009). We aren't wine experts but we were pretty surprised that this would happen at a restaurant in San Francisco."

  • "I was in San Francisco for a work training meeting and went to Bobo's for dinner with others from my class. We had a great time! We had wine in the bar next door before dinner. The food was delish, service was really good, and the ambiance was fun! Can't wait to go back! :)"

  • "always thought it look like a really cool restaurant and after a coworker told me how good it was I decided to finally take my wife for a nice romantic dinner there. Atmosphere was very softly lit and classy/romantic. Servers were all very friendly, polite, and professional. The food was incredible – started with a lobster bisque and some garlic sourdough bread, moved on to the bone in filet mignon with sautéed brussels sprouts. Everything was delicious, including the basil martinis. The dry aged steak was tender and savory, probably the best steak I've had in recent memory. Highly recommended!"

  • "We have been here several times and it seems the experience is always the same - pleasant experience in the bar, then we are escorted to a less than desirable table, have ok food and mediocre service. We live nearby and have been in often enough that most places would be more welcoming than this."

  • "Bobo's has to be one of the most consistent restaurants around. It is always delicious. I have been there more than 20 times and the steak is always cooked to perfection (the dry age bone in New York). The platters of mussels, shrimp and crab... twice baked potatoes, mac and cheese... all soooo goood."

  • "Had heard that the bone in filet mignon is really good here and it was. The service was fast and efficient. We were seated on the 2nd floor which they fixed up so its an enclosed room where you couldn't see the windows. Most likely to keep the traffic and other street noise out...which works well, but can keep any noise in. There was a group that was really loud and it just seemed even louder because of the way the room is set up. Barely any space with the tables really close to each other. If you're a party of 2 hoping to have a nice dinner where you can talk, try and get something downstairs."

  • "Our first visit was very memorable, great great service and crab tasted very fresh. Our last visit, they accomodated our late arrival but our waiter seemed rushed and very impersonal. Crab did not taste fresh and seemed to be hidden under garlic butter goodness. Steak was incredible."

  • "The bone-in filet was pretty amazing. Same goes for the brussel sprouts. You feel like you're in a circus tent, but I think that's the point, and I kinda liked it. $15 for a corkage is a pretty good deal, as well."

  • "I probably ate the best steak I have ever had at this restaurant. Our waiter was friendly and everything we ate and ordered as was far above our expectations. Bobo's has such a romantic and relaxing atmosphere and I still can't get over the food! Will be back!"

  • "Awesome, as usual. This time I even took some of my steak home and it was just as good the next day! We also walked over to the lounge and between the music and desert....just a killer night! Thanks to the Bobo's staff, from valet to wait staff to management and then the Lounge Bartender....."

  • "First and foremost, this is the first time I've ever typed a review for a restaurant. Usually, I don't bother, I don't like being negative. In this case it's necessary. Secondly, I work for a meat company-I know quality meat and I'm into food. I know what a quality taste/meat is. I've seen Matt Cain recommend this place. I saw the reviews on Yelp. It boggles my mind how this place got so many great reviews. The shrimp ($31.95) double portion were sub par. Not high quality. The flavor wasn't there. I could have made them better myself. The New York bone in ($44) was tiny. It wasn't tender. It didn't taste dry aged. It was very disappointing. My GF got a $13 mojito served in the same glass my $3.50 Shirley Temple. $125 for sub par quality."

  • "I went here with my girlfriend and had a very good time. Food quality is excellent, service is prompt, decor is great. What else??? Oh yeah, complementary valet parking, I almost forgot. Well managed business. I'll definitely come back."

  • "I surprised my girlfriend with a dinner at Bobos. We showed up right on time for our reservation & the complimentary valet parking started off our experience perfectly. We walked right in & were seated immediately. Our waiter was prompt, attentive, & quite funny. We decided to split a few different entrees which was no problem. We ordered the Caesar salad, grilled shrimp, macaroni & cheese, twice baked potato, & the huge 20oz bone in filet. We devoured our entire meal! Everything tasted amazing! The steak was juicy & cooked just right! We highly recommend Bobo's!"

  • "This spot is great. My wife and I went here for valentines day. The service, atmosphere and food are brilliant. We both had the surf and turf (filet and crab). Both were exceptional. The steak is the best I have had in San Francisco (we've lived here for 2 yrs and eaten at most of the good steak joints). The lobster soup, crab cakes and home made bread were great also- we had these to start. Overall, an amazing dining experience."

  • "We went the day after valetines day and the tables were to close together but we were very lucky, our neighbor were extremely friendly and it was fun talking with them. I saw this place on the show, Ticket Please and they raved about the steak. I though the ambence was unique so we tried it. We'll I wasn't disappointed. My wife and I loved our steaks, we both felt it was the best ever, next to the steak in Chile. The dry aged process is what makes the difference and gives it's unique flavor. I love my brussel sprouts and wife love the flan like desert, very light and tasteful. she is also a filet mignon lover and she got the bone on filet, it was huge but she loved it!! Yes we'll go back. I thought the waiter was a bit fast but he was kind."

  • "Arrived 20 minutes early. Understood if we can't have a table right away. But we were not seated on time either. The greeter misled the message and underestimated time. Waitress is kind though. Had famous bone in filet. Disappointed. Served below warm temp. Looks dark black burnt from the outside."

  • "I was disappointed in the food and the atmosphere. I ordered the bone in new york and parts of it were medium and some parts were almost raw. It was fairly tough to cut. The service was not fabulous for what I would expect from this type of restaurant."

  • "While I understand charging $40+ for a steak (and only a steak), I do not understand charging $9 for a baked potato. Three of us dined, each having a steak plus 1 soup & 3 sides for the table, no drinks or dessert. The total was around $187. Add the tip and it came to $227. The decor was disconcerting - clown masks and paintings, and wallpaper that made my eyes vibrate. The service was efficient - the food came very quickly. But we won't be back. There are other restaurants to get a good steak that don't charge an arm and a leg, plus you don't have to pay extra for the sides."
