A word from Bobo Restaurant
Breathing new life into a hundred year old brownstone in the West Village, Bobo hums with the excited din of a dinner party. Bobo is a clubhouse for spirited grown-ups to enjoy soulful seasonal French food in a fantasy townhouse setting that marries European elegance and romance with New York’s downtown energy. Chef Cedric Tovar’s (Daniel, Peacock Alley, Town) menus offer a contemporary take on seasonal French classics that celebrate our region’s best ingredients, from same-day fish and shellfish from the shores of Long Island, to heritage duck and heirloom produce from the Hudson Valley.

Bobo is open for dinner nightly, happy hour, and brunch on the weekends. The bar serves seasonal cocktails and sustainably produced wines from family-owned vineyards. The restaurant was designed by Dekar and spans several floors of our elegant and funky house, offering a cohesive blend of environments, including a garden, main dining room, and rooftop terrace, for a range of occasions.

Diner Reviews
  • "Staff including the mixologist behind the bar were all excellent. It's the attention to detail that they show that makes them a cut above the rest."

  • "Came in to NYC for an anniversary weekend and found BoBo on the internet and it looked good plus we wanted to tryout the West Village. Both did not disappoint. We were seated upstairs in an ecclectic well appointed room that was quiet even when full. Mark, our waiter was culinarily informed, attentive and personable without being overbearing. In the end, the food stole the show. It was all excellent. I had the duck and it was crispy on the outside and prepared perfectly within. My wife's dish was also very good. Great gastronomical experience. Walked the neighborhood after dinner. Very cool."

  • "Took my sweetie here for her birthday. Fantastic, personable service and an excellent meal, with our waiter happy to make on-the-mark drink and dish recommendations (I only wished my bouillabaisse was a bit bigger!). Steak au poivre was cooked to perfection, with plentiful crisp frites. Brussels sprout and bacon appetizer is highly recommended and oysters were super-fresh."

  • "We had a group of four and had a really lovely brunch. Cocktails were great, food was great. My only gripe is that when I made the reservation on opentable I requested an outdoor table. However, in no correspondence or during the confirmation phone call did they say that the outdoor area was not available. When we got there was the time we were told and the only table they had was in the back of the restaurant. Again, we had a lovely time and all was great, however we would have probably looked for a brunch spot were we could have been outside."

  • "We ate in the back courtyard area -the tables were crammed together making private conversation impossible. Food was delicious but a little over-priced. Staff were very casual, relaxed. Ambient music was from the 60s. I was hoping for a nicer outdoor area and a bit more style, given the price of the food. (Main courses in the $30s)."

  • "Overall, I had a great experience at Bobo. I went there with three other people, and we first had drinks in their bar before heading upstairs to the patio for dinner. It was terrific dining outside. Their servers were attentive. I ordered the duck duo - the breast was good but rest a little dry. For dessert, we had a cheese platter, which came with bread and honey and was very nice."

  • "But I loved the overall look. Kept hoping for more of a breeze, but the staff indicated we should let them know if we were too uncomfortable outside on the patio. Food was great although the service was a bit slow. Yummy mocktails, perfect for brunch."

  • "In a popular part of West Village, the restaurant is cozy and warm. I was disappointed with the pasta dish I had because it was very dry and not all that interesting."

  • "I took my boyfriend to Bobo and loved the experience. We both love the place and food. It was very nice and felt romantic. I will definitely go back."

  • "They sat us outside without asking us if we wanted to sit outside. They should have asked. My duck was good but it was so heavy on the sauce it was hard to pick up with a fork. "

  • "My new favorite hidden hem in NYC. Service is amazing, sitting on the terrace with the beautiful lights is so romantic. Try the Ladybug cocktail, amazingly refreshing!! Will keep coming back, love it!!!"

  • "Great location in west Village. Unique setting in townhouse. Wonderful food and service. Highly recommended."

  • "We chose this restaurant mainly for location (10th St. at 7th Ave) and didn't really know what to expect. Then we were blown away by the friendly service, delicious food (I loved the duck), excellent wine list (not too expensive), and elegant but casual atmosphere. There was enough noise to give the restaurant a vibrant hum --- but not so loud that we couldn't have a conversation. It was a great evening."

  • "Been twice and both stellar visits. Michael is a superb manager and Kim handles the bar with grace. Food is wonderfully served and the menu perfectly varied for numerous tastes. Cannot beat the ambience of this quaint, intimate setting with a vintage feel."

  • "The food was excellent, the service was friendly if a bit casual and the décor/environment was a bit eclectic but very interesting and fun. A visit from the owner with a genuine interest in our thoughts was greatly appreciated and has won my loyalty and commitment to repeat visits."

  • "I have been going to this restaurant for years and recommending it to friends/colleagues. I was therefore bitterly disappointed by the experience I had on Monday night. Our waiter was sullen, dismissive, unprofessional, and completely inattentive. I have always had excellent service at this restaurant (the two waiters with shaved heads are really first rate) so Monday's dinner experience was a complete shock. To cap it off, when I checked the bill, I discovered that he had overcharged us by $14 for the bottle of wine. When I pointed this out, he made some nonsensical excuse about having thought we wanted a bottle of wine that, he eventually conceded, wasn't even listed on the wine list by the bottle! Then he refused to adjust our bill! "

  • "We took our mom here for the night before Mother's day. Place was very cute. We sat upstairs. The main courses were excellent with the NY Strip and scallops and truffle risotto. We also liked the steak tartar. Our waiter was nice and attentive. Drinks were delicious. The caramel apple dessert was not our favorite. It was simple but not in a good way. Just tasteless and seemed undercooked. Overall, we enjoyed this place and will be back. "

  • "This was our second visit to Bobo. The first time it was a hotel recommendation and we went with friends. This time it was "en tête à tête" just my husband and myself. Coming from Europe we often find American restaurants too loud. Bobo is great...quiet and beautiful decor, great service and good food and wine. "

  • "We had a really wonderful dinner here last week with two friends from New Jersey. They loved it, too. We met at the bar first for Happy Hour cocktails, and also ended up splitting two dozen oysters. The drinks and the oysters were all delicious, and during the Happy Hour were an absolute steal. We like to sit in the glass enclosed porch on the 2nd floor. The ambiance there is great. We'll be back!"

  • "We stumbled upon Bobo when we saw it was the #1 rated place for showers. It is charming, has fabulous food and the best wait staff we have ever encountered! Equally good whether you choose brunch or dinner!!!!! The menu selections are varied and interesting. You feel like you eating in a charming french home."

  • "Although we found several of the dishes we ordered to be somewhat pricey, $14 for half an artichoke appetizer, the food was very tasty and well prepared. The offerings were varied enough to give any foodie a great variety of choices. We'll add this to our go to restaurants in NYC."

  • "Had the special, the Grouper, which was AMAZING. Also had the asparagus salad which I would recommend -sadly they were out of the kale salad which was my first choice, but the asparagus salad was great. Bread was so-so. My husband had the ahi tuna appetizer (yummy), the mushroom ravioli (divine), and the chicken - very good. It's super romantic and cute inside. We got a corner booth at the back on the second floor and it was a great view of the dining room."

  • "There aren't enough wonderful things I can say about this place. To start off, we had Grade A service. The staff was very friendly & helpful with the menu descriptions. The garden area on the third floor is delightful. It's a fantastic patio that's very romantic & pleasant. Depending on which floor you're dining, the atmospheres are very different. The 1st floor is the bar scene, very vibrant with great music. The 2nd & 3rd floors' ambience are very cute and cozy. They had beautiful decor, it feels as though you are in a comfortable living room. Adorable! As a starter I recommend the globe artichoke. It's perfectly prepared with a black truffle creme fraiche which is to die for. Check out my instagram for more NYC adventures: @bucketlistNY."

  • "I went with my mother when visiting NYC from London. It was the best meal we had throughout our stay. The staff was helpful and knowledgeable and the whole experience just perfect!"

  • "Our experience at Bobo was lovely. The service could use a little work. Our server was attentive but seemed oddly nervous and scattered. Food was great. Would highly recommend the mini crab cakes, octopus salad, and steak tartare. I got the scallops and risotto. The risotto was good but overcooked. The scallops were a little small. We tried 3 desserts, they were good but not amazing. Best item was the salted caramel ice cream. Our cocktails were excellent. They stole the show. I've heard people rave about their bar scene and happy hour but haven't gone myself. You could certainly hear the noise from the bar downstairs while in the main dining room upstairs."

  • "BOBO is swanky and cool. It is definitely the bohemian bourgeois it aims to be. Service is fun and articulate, food is good but not as exceptional as the décor and "the place to be" vibe that permeates. Selections will not disappoint, yet, more creativity with the preparations, more fresh herbs and less salt and less pasta would be appreciated."

  • "food was good but too small compare to the expensive bill; service was excellent!"

  • "Had such a great time here the other weekend. Brunch is not my favorite meal but Bobo does it right. Super beautiful space and sunlit, glassed in outdoor patio. Amazing Bloody Marys. And the service was super friendly. And the best - they take reservations - which is not always the norm for brunch in nyc on a Sunday. Good times!"

  • "Overall we were very happy with our trip to Bobo. We started out our evening in the bar and after dining upstairs wished we had stayed down in the bar for dinner. The bartender was amazing - great drinks - good conversation - made us feel welcome. Upstairs while the food was good and everything was fine it was just a different "feel." As is common in many places in NYC we were crammed up next to another couple which just puts a damper on the evening. The downside of service is when our waiter took a break toward the end of the meal for a very obvious smoke break - please don't serve desert smelling like smoke - unless it was kitchen smoke. Would we go back, yes, but may stay downstairs."

  • "I've lived around the corner from Bobo for at least 6 months now and finally decided to give it a try. I am very happy I did. The food, wine and service were all amazing. My friend and I shared the ravioli, which was so full of flavor. She ordered the scallop risotto and I had the duck - both excellent dishes. The duck was prepared perfectly. I can't think of one negative thing to say about this place. Also, this place is great for dates. It's really romantic and dimly lit."
