A word from Bobo Restaurant
Breathing new life into a hundred year old brownstone in the West Village, Bobo hums with the excited din of a dinner party. Bobo is a clubhouse for spirited grown-ups to enjoy soulful seasonal French food in a fantasy townhouse setting that marries European elegance and romance with New York’s downtown energy. Chef Cedric Tovar’s (Daniel, Peacock Alley, Town) menus offer a contemporary take on seasonal French classics that celebrate our region’s best ingredients, from same-day fish and shellfish from the shores of Long Island, to heritage duck and heirloom produce from the Hudson Valley.

Bobo is open for dinner nightly, happy hour, and brunch on the weekends. The bar serves seasonal cocktails and sustainably produced wines from family-owned vineyards. The restaurant was designed by Dekar and spans several floors of our elegant and funky house, offering a cohesive blend of environments, including a garden, main dining room, and rooftop terrace, for a range of occasions.

  • "If you're going to the Village Vanguard (around teh orner) or Smalls (next door), this is a terrific place to go for an early dinner before the show. When we went Happy Hour was from 5-7 PM, with a nice selection of wines at $ 6 per glass. The pre-theater prix fixe dinner was $ 35 for 3 courses, so it's a great deal for value."

I must say that the service was beyond incredible as my small party of two was taken care of by 3 staff members and the manager himself. It was the Manager that set the tone for the rest and I own my own business and I must say that good service starts at the top and trickles down and they made me feel like i was at home."

  • "They have a prix fixe brunch that includes a cocktail, entree, banana bread, fruit, juice, coffee or tea for $35. We were never offered any of the last 3 items (bill was put down with a "thank you, pay whenever you're ready" when our entrees were cleared). The banana bread consisted of 2 tiny cubes per person and the fruit was a small bunch of grapes. Deducting the prices of the 2 cocktails and the 2 entrees, the little saucer-sized dish of banana bread cubes and grapes cost $9 for the 2 of us and were not very good or interesting at that. That said, the entrees were good - I had crab cakes benedict and they made an eggs florentine for my vegetarian daughter."

  • "We went to Bobo on August 8th with our parents to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. Since this was a special occasion, we specifically stated this when making our reservation. While the restaurant was beautiful and we had a lovely table in the garden, the food was only okay and the service left something to be desired. Our waiter behaved as if he was an actor on stage and his performance was oozing of insincerity. The dinner took forever to arrive and when it finally did the portions were tiny and not great. I would definitely NOT recommend this restaurant. What a disappointment."

We had a Martini (only Chopin, Stoli, or Tito's - no Grey-Goose or Kettle-One) on the roof, then went dinner, seated right in front of fireplace (oh! if it was wintertime!) looking forward to it! Mark, our waiter, was EXCELLENT! We ordered 2 fresh oysters apps., 1 raw & 1 cooked. Mark suggested we take the raw first & then follow with fried. I agree, the night was young, only 6:30 and I predicted, that by 7 the place would be swamped with people! Get there early if you can! The BoBo Bouillabaisse was excellent, probably favorite, my date had the Dungess Crab pasta and the plates went empty, soaked up by bread & olive-oil balsamic on the table. Nice place. He could not have been more gracious I tried at least six wines before I found one I enjoyed, he kept asking if I wished to try others even though most restaurants would not have been as accommodating and I not feeling as being annoying. The outside roof restaurant was great and much quieter than inside. We all thoroughly enjoyed the evening."

We were seated upstairs in an ecclectic well appointed room that was quiet even when full. Mark, our waiter was culinarily informed, attentive and personable without being overbearing. In the end, the food stole the show. It was all excellent. I had the duck and it was crispy on the outside and prepared perfectly within. My wife's dish was also very good. Great gastronomical experience. Walked the neighborhood after dinner. Very cool."

Fantastic, personable service and an excellent meal, with our waiter happy to make on-the-mark drink and dish recommendations (I only wished my bouillabaisse was a bit bigger!). Steak au poivre was cooked to perfection, with plentiful crisp frites. Brussels sprout and bacon appetizer is highly recommended and oysters were super-fresh."

However, in no correspondence or during the confirmation phone call did they say that the outdoor area was not available. When we got there was the time we were told and the only table they had was in the back of the restaurant. Again, we had a lovely time and all was great, however we would have probably looked for a brunch spot were we could have been outside."

  • "I have been going to this restaurant for years and recommending it to friends/colleagues. I was therefore bitterly disappointed by the experience I had on Monday night. Our waiter was sullen, dismissive, unprofessional, and completely inattentive. I have always had excellent service at this restaurant (the two waiters with shaved heads are really first rate) so Monday's dinner experience was a complete shock. To cap it off, when I checked the bill, I discovered that he had overcharged us by $14 for the bottle of wine. When I pointed this out, he made some nonsensical excuse about having thought we wanted a bottle of wine that, he eventually conceded, wasn't even listed on the wine list by the bottle! Then he refused to adjust our bill! "

  • "We took our mom here for the night before Mother's day. Place was very cute. We sat upstairs. The main courses were excellent with the NY Strip and scallops and truffle risotto. We also liked the steak tartar. Our waiter was nice and attentive. Drinks were delicious. The caramel apple dessert was not our favorite. It was simple but not in a good way. Just tasteless and seemed undercooked. Overall, we enjoyed this place and will be back. "

  • "We had a really wonderful dinner here last week with two friends from New Jersey. They loved it, too. We met at the bar first for Happy Hour cocktails, and also ended up splitting two dozen oysters. The drinks and the oysters were all delicious, and during the Happy Hour were an absolute steal. We like to sit in the glass enclosed porch on the 2nd floor. The ambiance there is great. We'll be back!"
