We ate very little of our dinner and made a point to ask if they donate leftovers, which they assured us they do. The oysters Rockefeller were good and the drinks were good - service was really wonderful. But at $100. a person we expected to be wowed by the food."

  • "My husband and I decided to 'splurge' on our Valentine's Day dinner this year. We love a good steak, and have heard a lot about Bobby Van's, so we decided to try it out. The food was expensive, so the restaurant definitely had a high bar in order to meet our expectations. We got the porterhouse steak for 2. It was generous portions of meat, cooked to perfection. The filet was melt in your mouth delicious. We also ordered mashed potatoes and spinach, and they were good as well. The wine list is good, as well. Highly recommended for a special occasion."

  • "My wife and I try not to eat too much. We can't eat much any ways. When we go to steakhouses, we usually order a set (i.e an appetizer, a salad, a steak and maybe two sides) and split it. We still manage to bring home half the steak and some sides. I am always a little uncomfortable doing this for some reason and some servers seem a little annoyed. Of course, I understand. Our server at Bobby Van's was none of that. He was happy to take care of us and I am glad. We did order a good bottle of wine and a dessert. Hopefully, that makes up some of it. When the portions are so huge and the prices accordingly, I think this is the strategy one has to take to enjoy a good steak every now and then. Hopefully, restaurants would take note."

  • "our waiter definitely had a negative impact on the service. he seemed to not want to be there. my guest read the specials from the board, when I said I couldn't see from my vantage point - he didn't seem to care. he seemed to want us out of there, and was not forthcoming about desserts, when we inquired. I've eaten there before and had a wonderful experience. I'd be reluctant to return."

  • "Marvelous evening! We ordered porterhouse for two, rare, preceded by a dozen oysters and salad, with a glass of cab. Finished with bread pudding, topped with creme fraiche rather than with whipped cream, a lovely touch. All superb. Took home half the steak for sandwiches. Tuesday at 7, the restaurant was full. The waiter was a real pro, obviously very experienced, seemed busy but always nearby, there in a heartbeat when signaled. Clearly management assigned him the right number of tables. And his presentation was human -- none of this "Hi I'm Sam and I'll be your..." patter. He clearly knew how to read his customers, and I could see him responding differently to different tables. Congrats!"

  • "My husband and I had a $100 groupon that was given to us as a gift. I had the crabcakes and he had a filet mignon. The crabcakes were tasty but had a lot of shells in them. My husband's steak was huge and tender, but not much flavor. This place is way too pricey for the quality of food. This was my first and last time dining at this restaurant."

  • "We dropped into Bobby Van's on McPherson Square after a short play at the Kennedy Center. Had trouble getting in, because tornadic winds made it hard to open the taxi door and walk across the sidewalk. My girlfriend got the Steak a la Stone and a side of asparagus. I had a special: a Cajun ribeye after starting with a shrimp cocktail. Everything was very tasty. We closed the place, but were not hurried by our attentive waiter. We'll keep Bobby Van's in mind for beefy after-theater dining."

  • "Went for our anniversary dinner. I had the Bone-in ribeye steak my husband had the lamb chops. Steak was over cooked and too gristley to the point of hard to cut through. Requested medium rare more like well done, barely any pink.. My husband's chops were perfectly cooked, also medium rare. Sides were mushrooms and spinach. Nice portions for 2 l. Ordered Malbec wine. Nice with meal. Also had the calamari with marinara. Calimari was good but marinara was nothing to write home about. Finished with lava chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream enough for 2 to share. Ok meal. Expected better steak for price."

  • "This was our first time at a Bobby Van Steakhouse Restaurant. For appetizer, my husband and I tried the sweet chili tossed calamari; my husband had Harry's salad; and we both had the surf & turf, lobster & filet mignon. We finished with the warm chocolate brownie/cake with vanilla ice cream. Overall, the meal was very good and the waiter and other support keep the level of service at an acceptable pace. However, not sure if this was because the restaurant was not busy when we were there, or if this is the norm."

  • "Always worth the trip. Excellently prepared dishes and a very attentive and professional staff. The seafood tower was a nice appetizer offering an assortment of lobster, crab meat and shrimp. I also had the Australian grass-fed rib-eye that was cook excellently with a unique seasoning. And the lava cake for dessert was a great way to finish."

  • "Excellent food ! Negatives: 1. Boisterous noise in the large hallway sized room to the right of the host station on entry to the restaurant. 2. Service was mixed. We were assigned a young woman and happy to see the diversity it represented. However, her service was poor, and before we said anything to mgmt she was replaced by an energetic, efficient, hospitable young man.who provided excellent service for the rest of dinner. 3. . Tonight we did not want to order wine by the bottle but there was limited choice of wines by the glass. More wines--and better wines--by the glass would have been appreciated. But all in all, a very positive experience, and we will return."

  • "This was my second visit to Bobby V's and it was just as enjoyable as the first. The atmosphere is very pleasing; nicely lit with soft music playing in the background (interestingly they have energetic music playing in the bathroom). The wait staff is very attentive; all staff members contribute to the experience. The food selection is varied enough to offer something for everyone. The scallops are fantastic and the white chocolate bread pudding is a great way to cap the evening. Bobby V's is worth the trip!"

  • "restaurant is a bit pricey but the filet was very good. Also had sliced steak but wasn't quite as tender and asking for it well done was a mistake. They charred the steal which made it hard to eat. The bread is amazing! I also had a pretty good ceasars salad which was decent but not great. Having a Groupon deal made it worth it. The staff was very good and quick. Overall, 3.5 out of 5 stars in my opinion."

  • "Great meal. Mediocre appetizer that costs us $50. We ordered one appetizer special that the waiter told us was $25. After receiving the bill,we saw that this bland seafood appetizer cost us $50, or $25 per person. When bringing this to the attention of the manager, we were told that we must have misunderstood the waiter, that he has worked there for 13 years and was good at his job. Well, your waiter bought us ONE appetizer and never told us that it was $25 per person. Very disappointed that the manager literally blamed us for the mishap. How about inviting us back and giving us a complementary appetizer off of the regular menu (appetizers average $12) or a glass of wine? So sad that they did not seize the opportunity to please a customer."

  • "We had a great meal, with great service to celebrate our anniversary. Our server, Olivia, was attentive, but not overly so. We wanted to linger a bit and just enjoy the food & being with each other, which she sensed and accommodated us accordingly. Our steaks were cooked exactly as ordered and were delicious. We couldn't have been happier with our experience at Bobby Van's. We'll definitely be back!"
