Well, we had one of the BEST meals with some of the best SERVICE that we have had in DC as long as we have lived here (7 years)> My partner and I are foodies and I have to say that if you havent been to Bobby Vans Steakhouse, you must go!!! We had the Porterhouse for 2 along with the mac.cheese and green beans and it was SPECTACULAR. I couldnt decide on a cocktail so the waiter brought one for me and i loved it
I got the special-Lobster and Filet mignon with mashed potatoes. My bf had the filet mignon, green beans n mac and cheese. It was just all so delicious,
The waiters are very attentive and mk sure you hv a gr8 experience.
And of course it ws my boyfriend's bday-so he brought a cake on the house for him.
After we were done, he called us a cab which ws js a nice touch.

We shared a mixed greens salad, which was split for us before bringing to the table, it was delicious, just the right amount of blue cheese. We each ordered the filet and shared mushrooms and hash browns, had enough to bring home for two more meals, which makes the price seem much more manageable. This is now one of my favorite restaurants. Great food, drinks and ambiance. I arrived at the restaurant a little late and they still honored my reservation and didn't rush my dining experience. Our server, Rod, was so friendly and knowledgable. His great personality and attention really made our night even better. The food was amazing. Upon the recommendation of our server, I tried the Halibut and couldn't have been happier. It was amazing! My husband said his steak was cooked perfectly and he really enjoyed it as well. My lobster was good. The only thing I didn't like was the presentation. I get that the chef wanted the tail to stand up but putting it atop the mashed potatoes forced me to dig in my food to get it out. Perhaps I'm being a bit snooty but if I order Lobster, I don't feel like getting mashed potatoes all over my hands. It made me feel like I was a kid who had just played with my food.

An iced platter of lump crab, shrimp, and lobster was fantastic..and that was our appetizer! I had a steak that was served over a layer of blue cheese and covered with a cognac type of sauce. I was not aware it was served this way and it does not tell you on the menu. I wish the server had told me as I would have opted for it to be left off or the sauce on the side. The restaurant is very noisy, but most large DC restaurants are too. Disappointed in the wine selection by the glass. Service is average.
