  • "Food and atmosphere were excellent- portions were very generous. Service was lacking for this level of restaurant, but will definitely try again."

  • "Attentive, brisk service. Waiter made special gestures to make us comfortable. Lobster cocktail was succulent and sweet. Will go back for that. Calamari good. Veal and burger as well. We even had time for creme brûlée and coffee before Of Mice and Men. Perfect choice before the show. thesidetrek"

  • "I dined there Sat night with my wife and another couple. We each dine out 3 or 4 nights a week in Manhattan and have for many years. This was BY FAR the WORST service any of the 4 of us has EVER experienced. The appetizers came and before we had a chance to finish them, the entres cam (and we were NOT pressed for time). I asked the waiter to keep my entre warm until I had finished my appetizer. Then when I was finished, there was no one around on the upper level to check on us or to ask for my entre. Someone finally came up to the upper level when my dining companions were halfway finished. When I finally got my entre back it was very COLD. I asked them to warm it up, and when it came back, the others had all finished their dishes."

  • "Unimpressed. Decor boring and cheap looking. Steaks adequate but not seasoned well. Waiter was friendly but service slow. Other Bobby Vans and Bobby Vans Grills much better. Someone needs to up the game at Times Square."

  • "Enjoyed a terrific meal while have a wonderful view from the second floor dining room of the St Patrick's day madness at the pun across the street! Enjoyed the beef barley soup and shared the 32 ounce Ribeye! Great meal!"

  • "You can never go wrong with Bobby Van's for a business lunch or if you have tourists visiting you. It's in the heart of NYC and a very well established restaurant. Food, service and abiance are excellent. Would highly recommend it for steak or fish lovers."

  • "Very average meal. Nothing wrong, but nothing great either. Definition of mediocre"
    Dined on 3/14/2014
  • "Good location. Traditional above average steakhouse. Not haute cuisine, but serves a need."
    Dined on 3/14/2014
  • "Service was extremely slow and they were understaffed. We were seated almost 20 minutes before someone took our order. Our water was never refilled unless we asked and then we were told they ran out of bread...."
    Dined on 3/7/2014
  • "Aside from the hostess, the rest of the service was bad. Food was mediocre, not even close to the quality of the Bobby Vans on 54th street or the Park Avenue location."

  • "Love Bobby Van at Times Square. Waiter was beyond thoughtful , courteous and caring. We had a 7:00pm show arriving at 5:40 and never felt rushed. Thank you for a happy experience."

  • "We had a lovely although abbreviated dinner at Bobby Van's. Our reservation was for 5:30, were planning to eat before our Broadway show began at 7pm. Unfortunately, we got stuck in traffic in the Lincoln Tunnel and did not get to the restaurant till after 6pm. They were able to find a table for us, we sat down immediately, and our waiter served us promptly. We will definitely go back again for a leisurely dinner."

  • "We had a pre theater dinner during restaurant week. The prime filet was 10oz and expertly prepared. The drinks were expensive but doubles and well worth the price. Service was great, everything was perfect and at $38 per person (excluding alcohol) a steal."

  • "Went for RW- the selections were very good with lots of choices. Had the sliced steak sandwich which was a little more done than U would have liked and the bread could have used a little seasoning (garlic, butter, a light seasoned mayo...) but overall it was very tasty- great fries and onion rings accompanied it. The chicken was also very good and a nice lunch size portion. Service was great- attentive bu not overly solicitous. Will go back for sure now that I am working in the area. regular menu was pricey but not overly so given the location and that it is at heart a steak house."

  • "Restaurant Week Special was the best offer I have ever had. The best entrees were offered and I could have made a number of choices. I was extremely happy in my choice of the veal chop. Thank you for an amazing experience."

  • "I took my husband to Bobby Van's for his 45th birthday. We traveled from Philadelphia by car and we were NOT disappointed. We both ordered the caesar salad, sirloin steak with fried onions (I couldn't stop eating those onions), asparagus, mashed potatoes, and I had cheese cake while he had carrot cake. Everything morsel was delicious! My husband is very picky and he's still talking about how good his food was days later."

  • "I ordered the filet mignon, and hoping that it melt in my mouth when i cut the first piece. It was warm and not hot, the knife was not sharp therefore it was hard to cut a clean piece. the Filet Mignon was set on the mashed potatoes so it was harder to cut with the knife."

  • "OMG delicious and tender melt in mouth ...and thank you Dante (our server) for making my birthday dinner great and light and humorous as well"

  • "I had read positive reviews of this particular place, so I thought it was a good choice. I wouldn't rate anything above fair. And for the price, it really could have been much, much better."

  • "Staff are courteous. Food is delicious as always. This is my fifth time here! They never disappoints! I recommend highly!"

  • "I was so pleasantly surprised by our experience at Bobby Van's. Everyone's food was superb and the service was so professional. The main room was extremely loud but we moved to a small side room which was perfect for talking and being heard!! It's quite pricey Fish special was over $50) so it's really a special occasion place but we will definitely be back!"

  • "Great choice for restaurant week otherwise prices are a little high but food was outstanding. Modern atmosphere and tends to be a little noisy during dinner but would definitely go back."

  • "As usual the service at this restaurant was excellent; very nice restaurant week menu and normal size portions; the entree selection could have used a bit more interesting selection but overall very enjoyable and delicious full lunch."

  • "a great midtown luncheon place. good menu variety, very good service, and food was fantastic."

  • "Went to this restaurant as part of Restaurant Week and this was a great first experience. The service was outstanding; the server was attentive, but not overbearing. The menu was impressive and included an extensive wine list. Having never been here before, I didn't know what to expect from the food and I was very happy with what we received. The presentations were excellent, the portions were larger than anticipated, and the flavors were very good. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends."

  • "I've heard so many good things about this restaurant. However, my experience was less than impressive. We went there on restaurant week and the menu was nothing special. I asked for a medium Filet Mignon and you would've thought they'd ace this being a grill and steak place. I got a charred on top steak with a really red center. The service was not very attentive. It wasn't a great restaurant week experience."

  • "We went to have a stake and what we got was from another planet. The NY Stripe was soft, tasty and perfectly cooked, hands down one of the best steaks I have ever eaten."

  • "We came during Restaurant Week, and unlike many restaurants that offer their cheapest entrees on their RW menu, Bobby Van's offered a nice selection of moderate and upscale choices. I had the veal chop, which was tender, flavorful, and succulent. My companions both had the 8-oz filet mignon, which was excellent and cooked to perfection. The wine list was robust with plenty of choices in multiple price ranges. The servers were friendly and attentive, and we had a relaxed dining experience with plenty of time to get to our show. I'd definitely come back."

  • "Nothing like the Bobby Van's Grill downtown-which is great. Service was terrible. I had to ask for everything (the wine list, for coffee when dessert came, for sugar for the coffee, for the check.) The waiter was totally checked out. I would never go back."

  • "We had lunch before a matinee at Bobby Vans. The food and service were excellent and we took advantage of the Restaurant Week menu. Plenty of food and delicious wine. A lovely lunch!"

  • "Friendly greeting, immediate seating with timely attention from waiter for cocktails. All selections from appetizers to desserts were winners: pork chops, filet minion, chocolate mouse were all excellent. Coffee could have been a bit hotter. Active, bustling spot, but conversation at the table was never thwarted."

  • "worst steak at a suposedly high end steak house i've ever had. a filet mignon that was neither tender, nor flavorful. service very good for theatre district yet it was awful. repeat, awful. never again."

  • "We hadn't been able to have a date night all year until Valentine's Day weekend, which fortunate enough for us was the beginning of Restaurant Week 2014! Bobby Van's made sure that our night was spectacular and romantic. They were good conversationalists and amazing chefs!"
