The service was just doting enough, with wonderful suggestions for appetizers. All of us enjoyed our entrees, which ranged from the HUGE Ribeye to Chilean Sea Bass. Though it was a Saturday evening, we were never rushed-even though we lingered for 21/2 hours.

It was wonderful, starting with the seafood appetizer through the steak and into desert with the apple tart. Oscar provided good service at the outset, but he was less attentive as his section became more full. He did not pass by for a while at the end, so one of the kitchen staff saw our card on the table and rang up the check. He forgot to bring our card back! I didn't notice until the next morning, so I called the restaurant and they had it. My husband is a huge steak lover and we've gone to the norm (Ruth Chris, etc). We were pleasantly surprised at the sheer flavor of the Cajun Ribeye. It was nicely seared on the outside but oh so juicy inside...and HUGE!! Our waiter was the best! He walked us through how the ribeye was seasoned, and since it was my husbands birthday, he gave us a very nice birthday dessert of chocolate bundt cake with chocolate sauce and wafers. Everything was great and well worth the price!4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a Great Lunch!Had lunch with an old friend today at Bobby Van's, and I have to say it was wonderful - we both had the broiled bacon-wrapped scallops over sauteed spinach and grape tomatoes, and it was luscious! It was not terribly busy at lunchtime, so the ambience was very relaxed, and the service was attentive but not at all invasive. Thelunch menu had a wide variety of sandwiches and entrees to choose from, many of which I would have been interested in had I not been on a diet. Waiter was very friendly and helpful with describing the various menu items. My wife got the $40 three course prix fixe dinner which she had the calamari, 10 oz.fliet, and brownie & vanilla ice cream sundae. I had the cajun rib eye and for $42.50, I got a huge piece of meat!! Both steaks were properly cooked and very tasty! The sides that I got were sauted spinich and onion rings. The onion rings were more like onion strings (I was expecting an actual ring), but they worked out great to eat with the steak. Spinich was good as well. The brownie desert, though tasty, was a pretty small portion. Plenty of food for both of us. We have eaten at both locations in DC for Bobby Van's and our last experience at this location was good but not great. So happy that we gave it another try - They got their game back on - food was wonderful, tasty, and interesting, and the service over the top great. Overall, a lovely evening - we will be back soon. From the mixed greens to the steaks (my wife had a filet with gorgonzola sauce and I had the cajun ribeye) to the desserts, the food was top quality and the preparation was exquisite. Even the coffee was a winner!
Our server, Gregg, was quite professional and helpful in navigating the menu, as this was our first time at this particular restaurant. His consideration and personal attention made us feel very comfortable.
Of course, one look at the menu will tell you that the owners and managers expect you to have a fabulous meal. You will! We both got the special for 3 courses...avocado, tomato salad and 12 mussels in tomato broth; NY Strip steak with herbed butter & fingerling potatoes and spinach and "leg" of port (they called it a chop) with terrific cider sauce and best polenta with cheese and fresh corn; and "petit fours" which were really 3 dessert samples (all delicious). I couldn't even eat most of my pork after eating the mussels and some of hubbie's salad. We took home enough food for a second meal. While it helped that we also had a Groupon, we would go back. $8 valet parking and street parking (metered, even at night). The food was wonderful, and the staff was great, attentive but not annoyingly so. My one meal was enough for dinner, a late night snack, and lunch the next day. The decor was nice and romantic. The restaurant was about half full when we arrived. The service was excellent. The waiters were very attentive and gave my BF free cheesecake at the end of our meal. The food was pretty good. I had the pre-fixe menu and ordered the stuff chicken. It was tasty but a little dry. My BF had the Sea Bass which was excellent! Overall it was a great evening at a great restaurant. Timing was on point and the food prepared as ordered. No complaints, I left full and happy, and even spending about $150 a person, it was well worth it.
