Bobby Van's Grill - 50th StreetIf You Want Good Food and ActionBobby Van's is the place to be! Went for pre-theater prixe-fixe dinner. Excellent location, not in the heart but short walk to most theaters. The special menu provides a wonderful selection from their a la carte menu. Of course bar is not included, coffee tea is extra. Includes most succulent and famous steaks. Service was very good. Just one slip up on order, which was immediately corrected.
Because it is a bar and grill, it is noisey with an after work crowd. Was voted one of the best after work spots in the city. Despite the noise, still had a wonderful meal.
PS they sell their steak knives. Reasonably priced and a great gift.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMLOVED IT ALLHad a show at Cit Center and picked this restaurant because it was close to the Theatre...I know that there are a few Bobby Vans scattered throught NYC but this was my first time at this one. I thought that it was terrific.
I will be driving out to the East End of LI this summer to hopefully have the same diining experience out there as I had in NYC..

The steaks are excellent, service the same and we love the ambience of the restaurant.

He described the burger as being 16 oz., and while it was sizable it was maybe 10 oz. My selected another meal to avoid the huge burger he described. I got one with gorgonzola and bacon and it was great but I was realy taken back when I saw they charged me $3.00 extra for the gorgonzola on my $25.96 burger! Still it was a VERY GOOD burger. so I would go back and eat one again but get another waiter for sure. Also, this restaurant has no ranch salad dressing. Bobby's Mac and Cheese is not to be missed. I ask for a little pancetta to be sprinkled over the top and placed under the grill. Yum. You can ask for things not shown on the menu and might be surprised what the kitchen can do. This Bobby Van's on 50th St was formerly an Italian Restaurant and Bobby inherited the brick oven. They turn out a surprisingly good pie with a crispy crust. The martinis are generous and the staff very efficient. Our waiter was John, he was not only a true professional, his menu recommendations were perfect. Our dinner arrived at our table as he recommended, cooked to our likings and tasted delicious. The ambiance of the restaurant just added to a great evening experience. John and the other staff were friendly, professional and attentive throughout the evening.
