A word from Boathouse Forest Park
Back and better than ever. This casual restaurant, bar, and boat rental facility, located in the heart of Forest Park on Post-Dispatch Lake, is like no other place in St. Louis. The Boathouse has undergone major renovations thanks to a gift from the Jack Taylor family. In the warm weather enjoy leisurely boat rides, lakeside patio dining, cold drinks, live music, and beautiful sunsets. In the cold weather enjoy indoor dining for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch…or just come and enjoy a glass of wine or a hot chocolate while relaxing around the large stone wood-burning fireplace. **Due to increased traffic in the Park during our busy season, we’ll be able to accommodate reservations for large parties only, 10-16 people, for indoor dining at specific times. Otherwise, our seating is available on a first come, first serve basis.

We had reservations for 1 p.m. and we didn't get to sit down until 1:45. The server was very nice, but very slow. We waited at least 45 minutes then for our lunch which between the long wait and the slow service we were running late for another event we had. The ambiance was very nice, it was very clean and kid friendly.

We had our daughter-in-laws in from Canada for brunch. It was so nice to be able to show off our fabulous Forrest Park at brunch. Our grandchildren especially loved feeding the ducks, turtles and fish. There was also a crane that took advantage of the fishing right next to our grandsons. This was something they probably never experience again in their lives. I have only one thought, I would have like to see some other sandwiches (Turkey club) but was ok with eating breakfast items at 11:00. Our waiter was fantastic. Even brought the kids stale bread for the fish. I think his name was Sean. T

Fantastic experience. We had a handicap person along, the staff were very helpful in that respect and the property worked well too. The food was well liked by all. The crowd was crazy that day due to a local event that made parking impossible, but no fault of the restaurant. Beautiful surroundings inside and out. Will definitely go back.

It was my graduation in which I received my Masters in Information Technology from Webster University so I invited friends and family to the Boathouse for brunch. It was crowded but they honored my reservation and had us seated before the reserved time. The food was excellent and the view was great. The waitress was somewhat slow and was a bit unfriendly but overall, I had a great celebration and enjoyed food and company! I definitely plan on attending again!

My Daughter had the Southwest Chicken and the chicken was dry and not much flavor. I had the Beef Brisket which I have had in the past and it did not seem as good as it was in the past either. It was my Daughers first time and I wish the food had been as good as the atmosphere.

I love going to the boathouse! I usually get the bbq brisket sandwich but this time I went for the pizza. It was ok, a little undercooked. Tasted excellent for left overs the next day when I made it crispy in my oven! There was a long wait for outside so be prepared for that. We opted to sit inside which is still lovely and you have plenty of windows to make it feel like you are outside. Gorgeous scenery!!

We had a great experirence the other night at the Boathouse shrimp boil. We got a lakeside table with a beautiful view and watched the sun set as we listened to some great tunes from the Soulard Blues Band. The shrip were HUGE and delicious. My wife and I couldn't even finish them. We had to take some home in a "to-go" box. There was a nice little fire burning as we entered, people were very friendly, and service was good. If you are in or near Forest Park and looking for a drink, lunch, or dinner, the Boathouse is a must.

We went for the combined Shrimp Boil/Dining Out for Life and had made our reservation a month in advance. Despite our reservation, there was no room inside and we were invited to the "back 40" (i.e., new "beer garden") where there were no umbrellas for the hot sun or rain threat (we had both!). We were able to finagle a table outside under the roof and our waiter was great, as was the food; however, this is the second time we've come on a big occasion (last was Mother's Day 2010) and they were unable to honor the reservation made far in advance. This time also promised the "Soulard Blues Band" and, as of 8PM, there was not a sound where we were. Great place to dine for non-crowded occasion; otherwise, they can't handle crowds.

Went for the shrimp boil which is a 3-course meal of salad or soup, 6 jumbo (monsterous) shrimp, andouille sausage, new potatoes, and jalapeno cornbread, finished with your choice of apple or pecan pie with vanilla or cinnamon ice cream. The food was superb, but may have been a tad spicy for the faint of heart. Atmosphere was nice, and it's always fun to keep an eye on the lake activities at Forest Park. The only negative is that it was cold outside and we were seated by a door that wasn't supposed to be used, but the staff was going in/out it all throughout our dinner, which would create an artic draft each time.

    Dined on 4/14/2011
I've been to the shrimp boil now for 2 years. The last time I went, which was April 28th 2011, I seating was a bit delayed. I had reservations for 7:30pm and I arrived at 7:00. At that time I was told approx. 7:20 I would be seated. At approx 7:45 I was told "computer shut down" and they were waiting for it to come up??? I informed them my reservation was for 7:30 again. I then noticed that a group of 4 people walked up and went directly in to be seated. I inquired as to why we were still waiting and the staff informed me that they were joining another party. Finally we were seated at 8:00pm and I noticed at that time, the 4 people were indeed seated at a 4 top and already eating. Reservations should be honored first!!!!! Don't lie!
