A word from Boathouse at Breach Inlet
This waterfront locale is historically known as the launching site of our country's first submarine, the H.L. Hunley. Poised at the breach between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic, you can enjoy a meal amongst the spectacular sunset views and balmy ocean breezes of the Isle of Palms. Come early and have a cocktail at the Rooftop Bar while enjoying amazing views before dining.Continued

  • "Food was good, s l o w service.. Expensive for the portion size. Short wait for a table with a reservation. Great views!"

  • "Wonderful restaurant! Food was fantastic, service was really good as well. Noise - it was loud only because there are a lot of people in the restaurant! The food was out of this world!"

  • "Not only awesome views, but also good food and service. Have been here several times and never dissapoints. Good wine list also."

  • "We decided on the Boathouse for brunch since we hadn't eaten there in a couple years and it was good in the past. We ordered an appetizer we didn't receive and had slow service despite the restaurant only being a quarter full. Out of the 3 meals that were ordered none were prepared correctly. One we had to send back because it tasted spoiled and the other 2 were ok but weren't prepared like the description on the menu. With so many great places to eat in Charleston I won't be returning here."

  • "Loved the view, food was great and collards were amazing."

  • "I have dined at the Boathouse many times and the atmosphere and food quality are never a disappointment. However, we also dine at several other higher end seafood restaurants in the Charleston area (all rated and comparable to the Boathouse) I typically get a broiled seafood platter or some variety of seafood. The food portion size at the Boathouse is in estimation 25-30% smaller than those found a competitors establishments. A suggestion would be to increase the portions by a few of each item OR increase the size of the lobster tail or the number of dainty tails from 1 to 3."

  • "Go a little before sunset. Verynice place to be for sunset. Sit outside if its warm. Goodfood and presentation.service was really good."

  • "Rather pricey for the food, but it was at least very good. Waiter tended to hover and you felt a bit pushed which seemed unnecessary on an early week night. But, the seafood was fresh!"

  • "Love the decor and the food was scrumptious. Would be great to arrive by boat. Quick service as well"

  • "This was not my first trip to the Boathouse, one of many. However, this was a first date. Our server wanted to rush us through dinner - he kept coming back even after we told him we would be taking our time. I understand it is all about numbers, but we are local and we support you year round. Perhaps you should issue an "I'm not a tourist" card to us so we can enjoy your lovely restaurants without being rushed. A little romance and a few oysters can go a long way."

  • "I believe that the chef has changed. They brought our tuna app, half old and half pink and fresh....are we stupid! The shrimp in one of our entrees was clearly previously frozen. Not acceptable in this town. This used to be a restaurant where we would bring friends and family for a nice night out. Now it's full of tourists in sweat pants and tee shirts! We won't be back. Very disappointed."

  • "I always enjoy my dining experience at the Boathouse but was disappointed at the extreme increase in price in just the past few years. Tourists might pay the price, but locals will not."

  • "Simply stated, the Boathouse is always good - service, menu options, food preparation."

  • "I don't know if it was an off night but experience wasn't as good as before. The mac and cheese was bland. The bartender was quite overwhelmed-they needed to give her some help. Bar order took awhile. Eggroll appetizer was ok."

  • "Our server Caroline as very nice and when we inquired about the items on the menu she was very informative and helpful. We were in for a special occasion and she was very understanding of our situation."

  • "I have eaten at the Boathouse several times on vacation. Its my favorite spot. I try something new every time and this time was no exception. This time I tried the Low Country eggrolls. They were not only unique in flavor but very tasty. For my entree I got the bacon wrapped pork chop. It was the best pork chop I have had ever !! Very tasty. If you are going to be in Isle of Palms or Sulivans Island. , this is the place to eat."

  • "Superior service from Michael. Both girls loved the salmon and I really liked the tuna. House wine went down smoothly. Overall dinner enjoyed by us all. Thank you."

  • "We were 1 of 3 tables in the restaurant and the service took forever. The craft of mimosas was filled half with ice which watered down any mimosas after the 1st. I ordered the salmon omelet special. When i asked for egg whites only, the waitress said they couldnt do that. When I asked why she said they just dont. When i got my omelet there was only one bite that actually had salmon in it. The whole thing was spinach and tomatoes. Literally one bite of a tiny piece of salmon. My mom got the lobster salad. The portion was 1/4th a cup. Two bites for $11. we went out to eat elsewhere as soon as we left. Would never recommend."

  • "Went to Boathouse on Saturday. We had an early reservation and got a great table with a view of the water on the back porch. The service was fantastic and our meals were excellent. I had a perfectly done (medium rare) steak with lobster tails and everything was delicious. We also had some littleneck clams which were phenomenal. We will definitely be coming back and will be interested to see how they are when the season is in full swing. Boathouse has a great view and excellent food and service. What is not to like?"

  • "If you eat at the Boathouse...be sure to try the blue cheese cole slaw and fried flounder, both are very good. We ate on the downstairs patio, it is time for an upgrade to the area. Can't beat the view but can beat the food at other restaurants. The food overall is not bad but not the best."

  • "Slow service but the portions are just rediculous. I spent 98 bucks for two of us. Had to stop by Acme to eat again.3 bucks for Broiled Seafood platter. Platter? It was a small plate with a paper thin piece of fish, sure wasn't flounder but you couldn't tell because it was 3 inches long and paper thin 3 shrimp and 3 tiny scallops, salad was OK. What happened to the Boathouse we loved? Last trip..sad"

  • "Was very pleased. The food was great! Swordfish wonderfully cookedf. The fried shrimp was breaded perfectly. The service was on spot and the server stayed on top of everything. Even recomnened a great appetizer, liwcountry egg rolls. My family was in from out if town and their first trip to Boathouse. One of my favorite places."

  • "This was the third trip to the Boathouse and was our favorite! We both had the special of crab-stuffed flounder and it was delicious. I had the collards as a side and they were seasoned "just right" with a little hint of spice. Both my husband and I shared the key-lime pie and we both believe it was best we've tasted. We will surely return to this restaurant."

  • "My friends and I visited The Boathouse at Breach Inlet in February. Décor inside was warm and inviting. Fresh seafood was our reason for choosing The Boathouse and we were not disappointed. I chose the soup du jour, potato leek with bacon, and the Pan Roasted Sea Scallops. The soup was creamy, flavorful and served at the proper temperature. The scallops were outstanding - fresh, sweet and perfectly cooked. Served over parmesan risotto with prosciutto, asparagus and lemon rosemary vinaigrette, every bite was delightful. There was a gluten free option to this dish which my friends appreciated. Our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable and checked on us frequently. Choose the deck for the view in warmer months. Highly recommended."

  • "The Boathouse is right on the water at Breech Inlet on the Isle of Palms, which is a fantastic location. It wasn't particularly crowded on a week night, but the good was excellent as well as the Service. There are several dining area, an outside porch, an upstairs and the inside dinning area, which is where we ate. I would definitely recommend it!"

  • "It was Valentine’s Day and we were seated by a group of 3 couples. One of the gentlemen at the table was really loud and annoying. I should have asked to be moved to another table, but it didn’t seem to be any available at the time. Another couple came in and sat on the other side of the table and after about 3 minutes moved."

  • "This place is amazing. From the appetizers to the main course. Some of these seafood was so fresh that I may never eat it anywhere else. Best seafood in Charleston."

  • "We brought out of town guests to The Boathouse this past Sunday. The food was below par. 1. Had to get permission from kitchen to order a crab cake. Isn't that one of their specialties? 2. Blue cheese cole slaw was runny and loaded with mayonnaise. 2. Tenderloin sandwich did not come as ordered. 3. Service was slow. 4. Requested a table with a view when I made the reservation thru Open Table and we got seated by a wait station. There were other tables overlooking the water open. We were embarrassed that we brought first time Charleston visitors here. We will never come back."

  • "A friend had recommended the Boat House for good food and great view of the sunset. On our last evening in Charleston, we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed! We were seated immediately and service was wonderful! I had the crab cakes and lobster and they were excellent. Would highly recommend this restaurant to others."

  • "Meal was amazing. Server was great considering the Valentines Day rush. This will continue to be my favorite restaurant in the entire Charleston area. Steak was cooked to perfection. Crab cake was on point, and the sides were perfect!"

  • "Pricey but expected due to location, menu and quality; went early on Valentine's Day...enjoyed the time in our own little corner table. Don't know about playing frogger to get across the street otherwise valet? Probably hit Long Point Grill instead due to value and no reservations."

  • "Where do I start? We were seated as soon as we got there, got drinks in our hand really quick and the server was so attentive. We ordered the special which was a 5oz Serloin and 3 small lobster tails, that steak was so tender it was unreal. I have never had a steak melt in my mouth like that and I didn't even need a knife! The lobster was delicious and the veggies were awesome!. What a great evening! From start to finish we were there an hour, that is right...an hour!"

  • "We tried the Boathouse at Breach Inlet recently and were less than impressed. The outdoor porch dining had some cheap dirty plastic windows obstructing the water view...what a waste of time! If you're going to seat guests on a screened in porch in February, buy some windows you can actually see thru or clean them occasionally. The food was good but over priced. If you're offered a special off the menu be sure to ask the price. We were charged $45 for essentially a Filet Mignon with a tiny lobster tail and a crab cake that was $30 on the menu without the crab cake. The blue cheese cole slaw was awful, tasted like cheap salad dressing. Parking was almost non-existent so we had to use the Valet parking. Overall we spent $120 for dinner for 2."
