Diner Reviews
  • "We were in and out in 45 minutes. Not even time to order a glass of wine"

  • "While the restaurant does not look special from the outside (the building also houses a West Marine store), inside, The Boathouse is welcoming, with great service, a varied menu and excellent food. Ruth, our server, was attentive although, obviously, busy. Food portions were quite appropriate - two in our party had the Seafood Mixed Grill and would recommend it highly! The Blackened Steelhead Trout was, also, a winner! We will return to The Boathouse for dinner, for sure, when we are next in Vancouver."

  • "Had friends from Ontario visiting. They loved it! The miso crusted halibut was delicious as well as the plank salmon. We have never been disappointed. The gentleman that waited on us was extremely friendly and very attentive. A great experience overall."

  • "I would definitely recommend the boathouse if you're a seafood lover. The miso crusted halibut is really good and a favourite. There's a good selection of seafood dishes, but it also has some items on the menu if you're not into seafood, so it satisfies all."

  • "We went to The Boathouse to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed. The food was very tasty. We started with the calamari and it was some of the best we have ever tasted. I had white wine sangria and I highly recommend this beverage. I the coconut crusted cod was delicious."

  • "my friend and I both had the lobster thermidor topped. we both really enjoyed it and glad that we didn't get an appy as we were so full after our meal. our server richard was terrific!"

  • "Our dinner was for my Husband's birthday. We ordered the steak and lobster but were very disappointed in the beef filet! We suggest that the chef go to our local Costco to purchase the best whole beef tenderloin . It is fabulous every time and can be frozen with excellent results."

  • "This was a great spot to meet after an Airport pickup of a friend who we hadn't seen for years. The food was great (lobster fest) and noise level did not impinge on our conversations."

  • "We have never had a bad experience at the Boathouse Richmond. We were down for the Heritage Classic with friends. They had never been to the Boathouse before and were so impressed with everything. We love the Boathouse, for its amazing food, fresh oysters are wonderful, wine list is great and the staff are always accommodating!! Thanks Boathouse for another wonderful meal experience."

  • "The food was excellent and the service was great! Our small group had a working lunch and the server and staff were very accommodating and made us feel very welcome."

  • "Enjoyed the food - usually we take home "left-overs" - but not that night - we both ate the lot! Not because the portions were small - they wern't - the courses were well spaced out and the quality of food and service excellent. We're both deaf and noise exacerbates our "problem" and noise for us that night was quite loud. Others would not be bothered by it. We've visited before and will do so again."

  • "Having been to this Boathouse location and others before, and enjoying them, I was expecting something better. Perhaps Tuesday is not a good day for fish restaurants."

  • "The Boathouse is not an inexpensive choice, so we reserve it for special occasions only. Service at the Richmond restaurant has surpassed our experience in others. They were very considerate and thoughtful and attentive."

  • "Had two of us for dinner, both had diff salmon dishes and both were great. Our server, Ruthie, and the other staff have 1st class customer service, and the food came very quickly. A+"

  • "We were pleasantly surprised at how great the food and service was. We had an early seating, which we prefer, so the restaurant was quiet. Enjoyed the halibut and steak dinners. The desserts were also wonderful, really a fine dinning experience, without going down town. We will definitely go back. B&K from Richmond"

  • "My husband and I had reservations for Valentines day and we got sat so close to two other couples they might as well joined us for dinner. ( Not very romantic ) The service was terrible. Everyone who got sat after us got served their meals first. We waited over an hour to get our main course. I would say far to much money was spent on bad service and not a good environment for that night."

  • "This place is great for western menu food and everything tastes great. My wife had the seafood pasta and I had the prime rib dinner and both were tasty and appropriately sized. We always leave room for desert and the Mocha Ice cream pie is the tastiest treat you could have, to finish off your meal."

  • "Our reservation was for 8:30 which is pretty late as it is but by the time we got there they were running 15 mins late. By the time we sat down and started getting food it was already 9:30. Some of the items were no longer available on the menu and they weren't offering the regular menu just the Valentine's Day menu. The food was ok, but nothing spectacular like it usually is. Parking at this location is a nightmare we had to park 2 blocks away on the side of the freeway in the mud and huge pot holes."

  • "Considering it was one of the busy nights for "a night out" the service was very good and the food wonderful. Three cheers for the hard working staff :)"

  • "I took my girlfriend here on a belated Valentine's Day dinner, and although I requested a booth, they gave us a tiny table in a packed area right beside the main walkway. It was far from romantic, but the service and the food definitely made up for it. Our server was friendly and attentive. I ordered their Prime Rib while my girlfriend had their seafood pasta. Usually when I ask for a medium-rare steak at restaurants, they almost always overcook it. However, the steak was cooked to perfection here and it was absolutely delicious. Even though she's not a fan of seafood, my girlfriend boasted about how the pasta was the best she had ever had. Aside from the seating arrangement, it was a great overall experience."

  • "I understand V-Day is very busy. I didn't expect food would be fast or very good service. Yet, the attitude of the waitress is extremely bad. Busy is an excuse for slower service but not bad attitude. Being a waitress, min. has to be polite. She should not give client attitude except asking for tips she is very polite. Don't go to Boathouse on special day. Very disappointed. My wife and I had a very bad V-day dinner at Boathouse. The food is ok but can't cover the waitress' attitude."

  • "We went on Valentine's and ordered off the set menu. We had the seafood platter for 2 which was amazing. Tons of food, all delicious. The meal also included an appetizer and dessert. We couldn't finish everything as there was so much."

  • "The service was not good.. I understand that it was valentines day and the restaurant was busy. The food was just ok. There was nothing special on the table other than 2 rose petals ..no flowers or other decoration. The waitress brought my husband the wrong entree... But then corrected it. She forgot his wine and we had to wait until we saw her again to ask for it.he had almost finished eating. She brought our deserts and when we had almost finished she asked if we wanted coffee. At that point we said no. We expected a candy or chocolate with the bill..there was none. We had better experiences at the other Boathouse restaurants in Vancouver."

  • "When asked earlier "what's this restaurant reputable for" it was hard to putt anything except for kid friendly because I felt like I was at a Dennie's with the decor. Furthermore, food was great. Although it took an hour, understandable when busy but our drinks took 15 mis, greeted after 10, worst service we've ever had. Love the boathouse but now we will never be back to this one."

  • "although the wait time for food was a bit long on the valentine day, the food quality and presentation was acceptable. The most important was the server was really nice and always communicate with us, so we didnt feel being forgotten!"

  • "My husband and I have been dining at the Boathouse for years. It has always been my favorite," go to" restaurant . NEVER a bad meal and ALWAYS exceptional service. Last Sat.pm everyone's meal was average, non were hot and one guest waited 8-10 minutes before his meal reached the table. We had the worst table ever! I will go back, as this is the first time my dining experience has been poor. I trust this is a one time only experience."

  • "The food is fresh, I had the Steak an Lobster and the steak was prepared perfectly. Lobster as moist and tender. The pkace would be perfect for a romantic night out as this location is near the river and you can see the planes approaching Vancouver International. Our waiter was excellent! He was attentive enough but not intrusive. We really enjoyed our family night out. My wife finished the huge lobster cioppino and we ha a delicious creme brulee. A must visit when you are in Richmond."

  • "We recently went to Boathouse Richmond for Dine Out. We have been to Boathouse before and their food is consistently good. Quality was excellent and portions were very generous. We were impressed by this considering how other restaurants shrink their portions for Dine Out. The lobster bisque, chicken penne and mocha mud pie were all amazing. The only problem we had was our waitress took forever to check up on us. I understand it was dark inside the restaurant but at times there was no way to get noticed (by any of the servers). We had to wait 10-15 mins to ask for dessert, another 10-15 mins to get the bill, etc. Regardless, we will definitely be back again for the food. Hopefully next time the server will be more attentive."

  • "I picked this restaurant because of the seafood they offer. My mom really enjoyed the steelhead dish from the dine out menu. Unfortunately, there were a lot of parties that day. We waited for a long time for food to arrive. After the appetizer, we probably waited 30 mins for the entrees to come in. My sirloin looked medium rare like how I ordered it. But only the bottom half looked like that. The top half looked really chewy and well-done. It didnt taste that great, unfortunately."

  • "Place was packed for a 800 reservation. Servers were really busy and alway forgot things. Kids were running around but no one grom the restaurant put a stop to it. On the other hand, the food was excellent."

  • "Went here for dine out for the second time. started was fair. My girlfriend and I had both ordered the soup, but when it arrived, I noticed that the garnish was uneven. i ended up 5 croutons while she had only 3. just the minor details throw off a meal. as for the entree, my sides were completely over grilled. it was to the point that the burnt bits were on my dish mixing with the sauce. as for dessert, it was decent. the topping of the creme brulee was also kinda burnt with a bad after taste."

  • "We came for the $38 dine out menu on a busy Friday night. I felt that the service was so-so, upon arrival we had to wait 30 minutes until our water finally arrived at the table.. the server then gave us a basket of complimentary bread with whipped garlic butter. The bread was warm, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. We both got the firecracker shrimp for our appetizer, and the Firegrilled sirloin topped with lobster thermidor for our entree. My favourite was the shrimp; it was succulent and juicy, cooked to perfection! As for the steak I found it to be too tough/chewy.. there were a few pieces of lobster on top and it was pretty good. By the time our dessert came we were too full to eat it. Overall the portions are a good size."

  • "Really slow service. Mistakes throughout the whole dining event. Kids menu wasn't very appealing - no substitution or special accommodation could be arranged."

  • "I was in Richmond, BC on business last week and ate dinner at the Boathouse Richmond. I had the lobster thermidor which was featured on their Lobster Festival menu and it was excellent! The service was ok, since the server wasn't very attentive to me. I usually have better service when I'm eating there, but I loved the food! I look forward to eating at the Boathouse Richmond whenever I visit Vancouver for business."
