Diner Reviews
  • "We had a great late dinner at the Boathouse - reservations on-line were easy and they responded to our request for a window table which was a nice treat for our visiting guest to Vancouver. The wine list was excellent - not too pricy - and the menu was chocked full of seafood dishes such that it made it hard to choose. Our waiter - John - was excellent - both colourful and energetic - and lead us to the what turned out to be the best dishes as we all greatly enjoyed the meal. The deserts were also excellent - I favoured the cheesecake but all looked delicious! I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!"

  • ""The Kitchen was too busy" was the explanation that we received from our Server, there was only six tables occupied in the Restaurant."

  • "Me and my wife came here our first time the other day. I was a bit hesitant as the reviews before hadn't been all that great. However I had nothing but good things to say. We were seated quickly, our server got our drinks quickly, and the food was hot and tasty. My wife had the seafood stew and it was a huge portion. My meal was manageable but a tad small. Service was excellent and our server was very friendly.. he even didn't charge us for coffee. Overall a great experience and I'd definitely come back. My only criticism would be that the menu is a touch too expensive."

  • "As with most of the Boathouse restaurants, they seem to be mediocre, but in scenic settings"

  • "The food and ambience fir well together. The view was exceptional with the boats on the river, the sunshine pouring in made it all the better. We truly enjoyed our time there. We have been coming to the Boathouse for years and will continue to do so."

  • "My husband and I went to the Boathouse for birthday/anniversary. The food was excellent, especially the three piece cod and yam fries that I had ordered. The waiter even brought a cake at the end of the meal for our special occasion. Looking forward to our next dinner at the Boathouse!"

  • "The food was great. I really enjoyed my tender beef medallions. The gravy was very good. Others in my party enjoyed their meal as well. Service was good and the atmosphere was quite relaxing. I would go back again to try other menu items."

  • "Paid parking available in front of restaurant. Hostess greeted warmly. We made a reservation and were not kept waiting. Waiters were quick and attentive. Bottomless soft drinks always a plus. Food was delicious. We had the squid for 2 and mixed platter as starters and split the seafood grill for the main. For 2 it was more than enough food in good servings. Restaurant seemed quiet for a Friday night. View over the water was beautiful even though it was overcast and rainy when we were there. My partner received a complimentary slice of cake for her birthday."

  • "Food was expensive for what you got. It was mediocre. All four of us agreed with this review."

  • "The restaurant noise is a bit much. the food was hot this time which was nice, last time it was cold, service was great, gave us the wrong menus to start and then waitress gave us the right ones, service was good and attentive."

  • "I thought I had missed Lobster Fest as I was not offered or shown the Lobster Fest menu - then (the next day) see the internet ad that it was still on. Made a reservation for a window table - my friends birthday celebration dinner - and wound up sitting in the lounge. The food was fabulous and the service was excellent - so my complaint is really not a complaint!! Just saying I was a little disappointed. Will definitely reserve a table here every time I want to celebrate anything!!"

  • "Having read negative reviews recently on our visit to Vanc. we were wary ,but , found our experience very satisfactory in service and food quality as did our friends from back east . Great setting attached to hotel . Will go back ."

  • "We went to this venue to celebrate our 33yr wedding anniversary. We were not impressed with the service and the temperature of our meals. The appetizer arrived late and our entrees were given to the wrong table. When we got our meal it was cold. We did not complain because we were hungry. The waiter comped our appetizer but overall it was a poor experience."

  • "Its great to meet many people from maple ridge and places that are further south or east. Its a half way point. for groups and family. I like it. I find for 2 glasses wine, an appetizer and a salmon burger. $54.00 high for seniors. It was not a lot of food."

  • "We went for my son's 16 birthday dinner. He wanted lobster and it was Lobsterfest time at The Boathouse. Our server came by to take drink orders and that was taken care of fairly quickly given that the restaurant was quite full. Our server took our food orders but then had to come back twice to tell us he was sorry about the delay. No explanation of what was happening or offering us some extra bread. I also had two other full grown sons as well and we waited over an hour after ordering before we had dinner on the table. When the food finally arrived my risotto was room temperature at best. My other son's prawns were as he put it "cold from the fridge". Thankfully the birthday boy's lobster was good. All in all we were disappointed"

  • "Dined out for an evening with another couple. The ambience and the food was good as always. The only notable bad point was that though there were plenty of empty tables in the restaurant for some reason we were situated right next to another table with a different groupj."

  • "For a restaurant that considers itself as a seafood place I would think that they would know how to "not" over cook a fish. I ordered the miso crusted halibut and it was really over cooked. I was so disappointed."

  • "First off we had a reservation, but still had to wait over 15 minutes for our table, so we sat at the bar and had a drink. When she came to get us for our table we asked if we should bring our wine, and she said "no, I'll come back and grab it for you"... So when our waiter asked if we needed drinks we told him this, and as we were doing so we saw that the chick who was supposed to be grabbing our wine was busy doing other things, so our waiter had to go grab it. Our waiter seemed pleasant enough, but he was very rushed. So he was very short with us at times. Our food was pretty tasty, but was pretty much cold. That was really dissappointed because we ordered crab legs, steak and prawns. All of which you would expect to be hot when served."

  • "We've always liked this sppot for celebrating special occasions, consistently good food, friendly staff- amazing views of the Fraser River. A small mix-up with our meal was quickly corrected and the waiter and manager were attentive to our needs with a youngster in tow."

  • "This restaurant took 2 hours of my life that I will never get back. The service was perhaps the worse we have ever seen and the food portions were very small with the vegetables not fully cooked. The were, however, quick to bring us the bill. Will never go here again or recommend it to anyone."

  • "My wife had a halibut that they tried to kill twice. It was so over cooked. It's a good thing or like sashimi because only the top of my salmon was cooked everything else was way under cooked. Portions were very tiny."

  • "Being valentine s day, it was busy and we could tell the volume was distracting the hostesses. Once we were sat at our table, our waiter was great and the food was wonderful. Boathouse new west produced an extremely romantic evening for my spouse and I."

  • "The Boathouse in New Westminster is unlike other Boathouses as the dining sections and bar and lounge are separated so it does not feel like a big summer camp dining hall as with other Boathouses. The food is great, the view is fantastic and there is lots of great parking. A stroll along the boardwalk before or after your visit is highly recommended as there is lots to see. Overall, just a great dining experience."

  • "We have been several times and normally have a very nice evening, we chose to bring my In-Laws this time, I asked for a table by the window for the view, that the Hostess forgot to look at the request but was able to accommodate. Unfortunately you were under staffed and the service was very slow, not to much of an issues as we weren't in a hurry. The restaurant was very cold, we had to sit with our jackets on, not to comfortable. Then when it came to dessert and coffee, we waited 20 minuets for a Server to bring the menu, it never came, we paid the bill and left. It maybe be a little while before we return."

  • "The food is usually excellent, but not on this visit. Two people ordered the prime rib done medium rare and they found it quite tough. Another ordered seafood pasta dish, but found that it was mostly salmon, with only 1 scallop and bland tasting. The fish and chips was good as well as the stuffed salmon dish. I'm sure the service would have been better if our table had ordered alcohol. We definitely did not get the same amount of attention that other tables that were ordering from the bar got."

  • "Had a great time at this restaurant. It has a front and centre view of the Fraser River. The service was outstanding and not rushed. Our server was very helpful and friendly. We went with the Dine Out menu and were not disappointed. The food portions were generous and tasted great! The overall look and feel of the restaurant was great and I would definitely return."
