  • "Finally a delicious place to eat that isn't a chain in La Mess. Loved the food and the waiter was fun. Will definitely recommend to friends and definitely go back."

  • "Our server, Carrie, was OUTSTANDING! She was friendly, helpful and allowed us to relax and enjoy our experience! We were there for 3 hours! It was great!"

  • "We always find ourselves coming back here to have great food/drinks, with fantastic staff, while our daughter plays in the Bus!!!!!"

  • "I celebrated an all girls dinner last Wednesday and we decided on your restaurant since I had read great reviews. We were there for almost 4 hours! 5 girls having drinks and sharing amazing food. We never once were made to feel like we over stayed our welcome. Thank you so much for your service and amazing food!"

  • "This is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy really good food. The cheese board was delicious, the brussel sprouts, and the spicy shrimp flat bread were all marvelous. My only complaint is the price for alcoholic beverages. Their prices are too high, and make it nearly impossible to relax with a cocktail during your meal. We were floored when we were charged nearly $40 for a cheap bottle of chardonnay. That is the only problem I encountered with my dining experience. Otherwise, great staff, great atmosphere, and great food!"

  • "Food is creative, generous and great tasting. Outdoor area is very nice, not sure how I would feel about eating inside. Pretty sterile."
    Dined on 7/13/2014
  • "Great waitress but kitchen very slow getting the food out. Need to work on that!"

  • "Everything about our dining experience was fine until a young couple came into the eating area with a small dog which they were allowed to seat on a bench next to us. I wasn't aware that non-service dogs are permitted in eating establishments and in addition I am allergic to cats and dogs. These young people were oblivious and the young woman was obviously more interested in her pet than the man she was with. We left before she started feeding it from her plate but I'm betting she did. Isn't this against the law?"

  • "The only complaint is they should give you the option when making your reservations to select inside or outside seating. This is the 2nd time I've made reservations and been unable to sit outside. The tables inside are close and there is not much privacy between the tables. Plus, it can be hot inside the restaurant."

  • "great place for favorites and to savor new ones. Salmon was done perfectly. Enjoyed bruchetta, fries and panzanella."

  • "Our server was very pleasant and the ambience is nice...although a bit loud. We ordered the skirt steak and a perfect gem salad. The salad was very good but small. Personally I think it was a bit overpriced at $8.50, but you can tell thought went into it's ingredients. The French fries and green beans were quite good but the skirt steak was so tough that even the steak knife couldn't get through it, mostly caused by a large bit of gristle in the middle. Again, the price was high, about $24, but I supposed what you would expect from a gastropub. I think Bo Beau in Ocean Beach does a better job, but maybe this is the best we can expect for La Mesa."

  • "Our experience at Bo Beau was a good one. The food was excellent, the atmosphere wonderful. Fried chicken was awesome; kids loved their burger royales. Service was a little sketchy, as our waitress appeared to have forgotten that we ordered appetizers and wasn't particularly apologetic afterwards. Otherwise it was a great night at the La Mesa Bo Beau!"

  • "Finally a "fancy" option for dining out in the east county. The cohn group is always a sure deal and this is no exception. A nice location in the heart of downtown La Mesa. Menu has something for everyone and appetizers can make wonderful tapas style meal with groups. The patio dining area is beautiful and has enough space for larger groups. Overall a great dining option for families, couples or groups."

  • "My husband and I come here at least twice a month, and often bring out of town guests here because it is so close to our home, and we love the ambiance. I have to admit I was tiring of the regular menu, and just delighted to have been handed a "specials" menu with a few new choices on Saturday night. I had the salmon, which was really good - done perfectly. Also, notable was the bread pudding dessert that we all shared.. We always have great service and will keep coming back and maybe more often if the menu presents new items regularly."

  • "Menu varied but difficult to find 1st and 2nd courses that made sense together. Food needs seasoning! Even salt would help. Service ok. Not a promising place. Took a frien there for her birthday and wished I'd chosen another venue ."

  • "we love to drop in on an evening to enjoy La Mesa and the Village....staff is friendly and the menu has a great variety! The Brussels are a must as is the flat bread pizza..."

  • "The food was good although unique and a little pricey. It would have nice to have more choices on the menu."
    Dined on 6/26/2014
  • "The famous, wonderful brussell sprouts, deviled eggs, and I had spicy shrimp flatbread, others had the pork shank. All delicious."
    Dined on 6/26/2014
  • "Apparently it was an inside joke bit that's the only part I heard. She was fantastic, friendly, funny, knowledgeable, tentative, overall excellent service from her. We ordered two things she recommended, the beef tartar, and the pork shank. Both were amazing. Thank you!"

  • "My husband and I enjoy almost everything about Bo-beau Kitchen + Garden. They have a school bus for kids to play in, which we haven't had the opportunity to use, but I know my kids would enjoy. Their brussel sprout appetizer is absolutely amazing and we recommend getting it! Our one hang up about the restaurant is that we both feel it is over priced for the selection and quality of food. We have enjoyed the dishes that we have ordered, we just don't believe they have been worthy of the price they put on the dish. It is a relaxing atmosphere to sit and talk and hang out with friends."

  • "The server was understanding and apologized, but not what I would expect from a Cohen restaurant."

  • "Dining room staff was confused, disorganized. All of them very nice but nobody up to speed. The two of us were seated at a lousy table even though some much nicer ones sat empty. Brussels sprouts starter was epic! Fried chicken entree disppointing. I make polenta at home so I know a fail when I see one. How about some CRISPY fried chicken? I hear its very popular that way. I guess this is a tough location. I fear it might be slipping away just like Gingham did."

  • "Favorite spot for our family celebrations! Love the ambience and the outdoor seating area is lovely. Our server was so sweet and food was great as always."

  • "I cannot wait to dine again there. Great menu. Variety and pricing excellent. I had the fried chichen. Never had such most chicken. We dined on the patio which was lovely. Don't know if I would care to eat inside but maybe. Waiters and waitress were most accommodating and made us feel welcome."

  • "Fathers day brunch. the table next to us waited 45 minutes with out food, or offer of a complimentary cocktail . we waited 30 mins. thank goodness I ordered the brussel sprouts appetizer, when I sensed how slow the food was coming out. Lots of wait staff, no one in the kitchen?? It was not even that busy. drinks were good and our favorite waitress Sarah was working. always great to see her."

  • "The food was good, but not "wait for nearly an hour and a half between ordering and receiving it" good. Seriously, the wait for our food was beyond ridiculous. Our waitress was very apologetic and did offer complimentary muffins to tide us over, but still... the kitchen staff clearly needs to get it together. My 18 month old son enjoyed playing in the fun kids area they have set up in the back patio (old school bus, seats removed, carpeted & filled with toys) - good thing it was there since he was running out of patience sitting in the high chair waiting for our food to hit the table. When our food finally did arrive, only half the table was served... they were almost done eating by the time the rest of our party was served."

  • "The food is amazing here. We started with their famous brussell sprouts which will not disappoint. Huge portion. Delicious. Then we split a panzanella salad which had cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, mozzarella cheese, croutons and basil - yum. For dinner, we had the buttermilk fried chicken and beef bourguignon - both were delicious. Our taste buds were on fire!"

  • "This was my first experience at the La Mesa Bo-Beau restaurant. I was very excited to be able to get to a location that is much closer to where I live. We celebrated with an early Father's Day dinner and Steven was our server. He gave us excellent service and was very personable. The food was consistent with what I've come to expect from the original location. As usual, the brussell sprouts didn't disappoint!"

  • "Good food ,presentation Perfect, could. actually have normal conversation"

  • "Try the brussel sprouts. I've never had them and wouldn't think I'd like them but they were excellent. I also had the pork shank which was good, but a step away from excellent. It was a little gritty for lack of a better word, with a couple tiny hard pieces that I'm not sure if it was a bit of the bone or something else. The chutney with the pork though was really addicting, and I wouldn't mind having a bit more chutney on the plate. I also didn't think the flavors from the mashed potatoes and the sauce on the pork shank went well together, but separately, really good. I was able to try a bit of the curry mussels soaked in bread which was tasty. Our server was very friendly and warm, although a little too chatty at times."

  • "Again had great food at BO-beau La Mesa, good table on outside covered patio area and server Sara was fantastic - she willingly answered all our meal choice questions, was attentive and very pleasant and never said "no problem" - she helped make the evening more enjoyable."

  • "Food was great, outdoor garden was beautiful, and the table next to us brought their dog. I'm sorry, but I'm tired of going to nice restaurants that allow dogs."

  • "As with most, if not all Cohn restaurants, the food is only good, but the service is friendly and accommodating. I would give them 3 1/2 starts, but 4 is too many. La Mesa has very few "modern" style restaurants, Tiramasu down the street and Antica Trattoria on La Mesa Blvd are two others, so Bo Beau is a breath of fresh air for the area. The school bus for the kids is what brings us here with our 2 grandchildren, who are 5 & 6. "

  • "Very good service. Well trained staff. Food was pedestrian....ok, but not outstanding. Ambiance would be fine for lunch or brunch, but much too "industrial" and noisy for dinner......for my tastes. "

  • "I'm so glad we have a Cohn Restaurant in our neighborhood and love the fact that they honor Passport discounts."

  • "Who would have thought there would be a chi chi restaurant in East County??? Not me! This place is great!!!"
    Dined on 5/25/2014
  • "Brussels sprouts were great. Steak was good, but sides were ho-hum as were the desserts. For the price, would have expected better taste in a cohesive meal. Way too load for a couple to enjoy a conversation, but groups looked to be having a great time. Really wanted to like this place as there are very few places in La Mesa to get a really nice meal."
    Dined on 5/23/2014
  • "We ate in the patio. Heaters kept us warm on a cool evening. The noise level inside is loud, so we prefer eating in the patio. The brussels sprouts are a must and 4 can easily share. I ordered the salmon and it was delicious. The hamburger was a hit with the guys."
