  • "It had been a long time since I had been to this part of La Mesa... I mean, since childhood... but this place definitely would have me come back! I had dinner with my three bridesmaids and 14 month old flower girl. The food was delicious. We got three different flatbreads... mine was the Pork Belly which was delicious. We all shared the cheese plate and brussel sprouts which were INSANE (soooo good) and the deviled eggs which were great. I don't drink but a few of the girls did and loves their cocktails. Overall, great food and experience!"

  • "OH-MY-GOD-GOOD. This is my new favorite place. I've been here three times in the last month and can't wait to take my sister when she's in town for Easter week. The atmosphere is rustic and chic, the wine list is fabulous and the food is amaze-balls. I love everything about this place. You MUST try the brussels sprout app and the burger royal ...and don't forget to add the fried egg....it will be heaven in your mouth."

  • "I love this place, it right down the street from my place in the cutest downtown La Mesa area. Came here for a belated birthday with my dad, his girlfriend and my husband. It was only my 2nd time and I had the same thing (the royal burger) best burger I've ever had with that sweet onion mix and the pork belly! The organic mule is delicious! The only thing I wasn't thrilled with was dessert. I had the chocolate lava cake and a bite of the pumpkin bread pudding. Neither was all that great, but they were fine. The outdoor area is adorable and I would love to come here on a weekend night just to have a drink out there especially with such beautiful weather we're having."

  • "The food was creatively composed and plated, and delicious to boot! I caved and got the Rotini and Cheese with sweet and spicy bacon - amazing. Three others at our table had the burger with pork belly and fried egg - all three of them loved it. Highly messy (wood planks for plates don't exactly do well for catching the runny egg juice), but all agreed it was worth it. One other person at our table had the beef bourguignon, of which I had a bite, and it melted in my mouth. Meat and cheese appetizer was a little small for our group of 6, but I find that those usually are. The brussel sprouts are definitely worth trying. And do yourself a favor and get the Organic Garden Mule cocktail - I sucked it down like juice!"

  • "Had a great time with old friends. The only negative is that our table was reserved for us in the bar which was extremely loud, we were literally screams to hear each other. They gladly moved us into the restaurant. Bar should be saved for walk-ins maybe."

  • "Met friends at a business meeting nearby and had scoped this restaurant out on Yelp, as this is not our area of town. What a fun surprise to find this unique restaurant in the middle of La Mesa's quaint "village." The hostess was immediately able to find us a quiet booth on request and the waitress was able to provide my husband with a Happy Hour order, even though it was a few minutes after and we weren't in the bar area. The rest of us had great entrees - moules and frites, roasted mahi mahi, and a couple of fabulous salads. In all, our experience was great food-wise and the service was very professional and smart. We will return."

  • "We've been back here 4 times now and have yet to be disappointed! The staff is great, the menu is terrific, and the ambience is fabulous. We've tried many different items from the menu and have loved every one! The brussels sprouts are amazing, and the cauliflower is great too! My personal favorite is the burger with the pork belly. Mmmm..."

  • "The food was ok, but the service was horrible. We got to the restaurant at 7pm and 7:30pm we were done. They brought all the food we ordered at once. We had to eat all our food in a hurry so it won't get cold. Our server came to our table 20 times and did not even acknowledge that something was wrong. Her response to every questions we asked about the Menu was : "Oh, that is my favorite dish. I just had it yesterday." There was a couple next to us and while we got all our food in 20 minutes, no one took an order from them for 30 min. We were excited about Bo Beau coming to La Mesa, but this was our third time here and we believe the food is not worth to be coming back. Every time we were at this location the service was very poor."

  • "The food was absolutely outstanding. the mahi mahi was supurb with the cauliflower mash. Others had beef meals and they ate every bite. We ordered the brussel sprouts for an appetizer and they were terrific. The wine list is a little pricy: in this case it would have paid to bring our own bottle and pay the $15 corkage fee. As it was we ordered a mid-priced sparkling wine and it wasn't bad. The place got very noisy as the evening wore on, prompting us to leave without ordering dessert. Our waitress was terrific. We will definitely go back, but I think we'll wait until it's warm enough to dine in the garden."

  • "This is the third time we have dined at Bo Beau in La Mesa. This visit, our server (Cammie?) was outstanding. We were glad to be able to share some wine knowledge with her and she was genuinely appreciative. The food here is consistently good. Why not 5 stars for the food? Because we would really like to see Bo Beau implement a greater range of nightly/weekly specials. Our take is this - - once you have eaten there two or three times with a party of four or more diners, you have pretty much covered their entire menu. Don't get me wrong, the food is delicious. We are just hoping for a greater variety that changes on a more frequent basis. So happy to have Bo Beau as an additional fine eatery in East County. There are too few!"

  • "We've been here several times now, and have brought several friends to introduce them to this great local restaurant. This time the chicken flat bread and fish were a hit! Our friends really liked the burger (which is outrageous!) and pork shank. Our only complaint this time is that waiter was rushing us a bit, the main course came out within about 2 min of the appetizer plates being lifted and he put the dessert menu on the table when two of us were still eating dinner. We are locals and we will be back again and again - so glad to have a really nice restaurant in this spot. We love the bar area too, and plan to bring our staff in for happy hour soon."

  • "The food was amazing and the service was excellent! I've been 3 times in the past month and each time was equally wonderful. The first time we brought the kids and while we were waiting for our food, they enjoyed playing on the converted school bus filled with toys. We ordered lots & they were very accommodating to our dietary needs. I also had a mocktail made with fresh squeezed citrus juice. The servers are very attentive and we never had to ask for refills. I've been back for a girls night out and then again with my in-laws. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their experience and we all had a lovely time. The pear flatbread & mahi mahi with the carmelized cauliflower were divine! I wish they had a Sunday brunch...I'm sure it would be exquisite!"

  • "BO-Beau (a Cohn restaurant) was a unexpected and pleasant surprise in La Mesa. The food was simple, but superbly seasoned and prepared. They were flexible in substituting goat cheese on the spaghetti squash, and replacing broccolini with green beans served with the pork shank. I loved the organization of the wine list. We will definitely be going back. Have to give it a try for lunch or brunch next."

  • "We love BO-Beau in Ocean Beach so were excited to try the new location - easier to get into as they take reservations. Our server had been there a month and was not fluent with the menu - wasn't sure what was in each dish (although he heard they were good). I'm celiac and asked him for options. He didn't know. Another server brought a gluten-free menu (our server didn't know they had one). Shared the cauliflower to start (had to go a second round, first one was coated in flour). Delish once we finally got it. My husband had mussels - v good. I had spaghetti squash - terrible! Coated in sour white balsamic w no other flavors to balance. Took 3 bites and left it. Flourless choc cake for dessert - okay but coulis was watery & flavorless."

We had the flat breads for the main course and they were very different and wonderful. This is a great addition to the La Mesa area."

  • "I was really excited that this restaurant was going to be GREAT! I was disappointed to be seated upstairs and stared at the wall behind my husband. The upper seating area is completely enclosed on you do not have a view of the lower area or outside. You sit so close together that you feel as if you are seated at a community table. The food was ok. This is definitely not the place to come when you are watching what you eat. Everything comes with thick slices of bread (delicious) or fries and has oil, butter or cream. Felt everything was oily or overseasoned. Best part of my meal was the flourless chocolate cake....hands down. YUM! Not sure if I will be back. If so, it may just be for dessert!"
