But Bluestone did a great job on Mother's Day. Our food was excellent, the service was good and we got our reserved table right away. The food was magnificent and the portion sizes were appropriate. We thoroughly enjoyed the dessert which was ample enough to share.
The service was a bit slow and remiss. The waitress failed to present the specials and did not bring bread to the table. She was also slow in responding to our needs. The place was very busy and she seemed to have more tables than she needed. I hope this was a one time occurence. Over,all we were very pleased. The Hothouse tomato and cucumber salad was excellent, and the crab-stuffed swordfish, superb. My wife found the mahi-mahi a bit spicy but otherwise delicious. Her brother and his wife, visiting from out-of-town, loved the crab cakes in their surf & turf combinations, and found the filet of beef well-prepared also.
The wine, a German Riesling, was a bit pricey, but a good accompaniment for the seafood. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and the patio was quite charming. The flowers I ordered were on the table and my wife absolutely loved them. Previous reviews said the service and food were great, and I would agree with both of those assessments. The server was very attentive and made sure we had everything that we wanted or needed, and she took pride in serving us while we were celebrating our anniversary. We happened to be there on a Tuesday night, when selected bottles of wine were half price, making the meal more affordable. The only drawback is that the dining room is not well separated from the bar area, which the noise level can be described as "energetic" in the above survey question. Our only caveat, and we've seen it before, even warned our waitress : food will come out before you finish the salad. For some reason they have a very fast line from kitchen to table. We sent ours back, told the owner, and apologies given. A bit annoying, when we warned them up front. The waitress was excellent. Always a fun tasty meal. thanks! The portion size was generous enough to provide a scrumptious lunch the next day. The Battle Creek oysters on the half shell were tender and deliciously salty starters and I will order 12 instead of 6 next time. Good bread and butter and generously-large drinks were some other details which struck us as well done. Key lime pie and creme brulee, both good examples of their kind, topped off this fine meal. Only complaint they charged us to $ 4 to split the shared plate and didn't tell us. Restaurant was hopping- very crowded on a Sat. nite but looked like they had a humongous party at the bar... The manager came over and asked how we enjoyed the meal.... That said, it is truly wonderful for almost any occasion, from a ladies lunch to a hot date to a business meeting. Great bar (w/tv screens), nice wine list and enough choice by the glass, comfortable chairs or large booths, and remarkably consistent good service. Great menu includes small plates, "light fare" (which is in no way "light", but more like traditional bar food: burgers, salads, sandwiches), a large selection and varied preparation of fresh fish and beef. There is a small selection of reasonably priced wines; we had a South African wine called Barista that was on the heavy side for a Pinot Noir, but deliciously rich with espresso, caramel and a hint of berry and I would buy it again in a minute.
