Bluestem BrasserieVery good food and service.Got a table for 4 hear last second through OpenTable, after failing to get a table at "The View" (packed with drinkers at 11pm).
The place is VERY nice. The entrees cost about 25 per. VERY good food. My girlfriend had the Duck Canatelli with Truffles, she loved it. I had the Halibut. It is the best halibut I've ever had in my life. No joke.
Ambient lighting, good food. Perfect last second place. Surprised it's not busier.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMBluestem always deliversBluestem always delivers great dining experiences. My partner and I ordered the delectable lamb burger and the duck confit salad, both being exceptional. I think what separates this restaurant from most with a focus on meats is that they have their own butcher room and a certified butcher on staff. I've never been disappointed in any meal there and my lunch was no exception once again. You can count on one or both owners of the restaurant to work the floor themselves on any given day, that is how solid the service is. Highly recommended when on market street and looking for an excellent meal.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMBluestem is very coolIt is located perfectly for anything near Yerba Buena Gardens. It is very nice inside and has a trendy feel. The good was really good.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMConvinced. In the heart of downtown where all the shopping is, hidden right behind Coffee Bean, this restaurant has surprised me twice!
I've been here twice, once for dinner and once for sunday brunch. What I love most is the food is fresh and flavorful, the servers are polite and thoughtful, and I feel they separate each dining party well enough so louder groups are not interrupting the more quiet people. Dinner can be a bit pricy but it's worth it for the food, service, and 100/100 health score. If you want to experience the place and not have your wallet bleed, go try their brunch/lunch.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMSurprise Bridal LuncheonBluestem Brasserie was super helpful in getting us set up on the patio and with a heat lamp in case the wind was too much. Our server recommended us sharing plates so we could try different things, some did, others did not. We were not disappointed. The portions were healthy and the food was all delicious. We had plenty of brunch cocktails and our server made sure no one went without, especially the bride-to-be. This was a great location close to BART with patio seating. The Bloody Mary however left something more to desire. I loved the garnish of cocktail onion, caper berry, and olive, but the mix was a little bland. Definitely a great choice for groups as they were accommodating. We went on a Saturday and it was pretty low key.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMUpstairsOur third visit to Bluestem, and this was the first time we were seated upstairs. We enjoyed it! Food, Drinks, Service all wonderful. The burger is definitely up there with the very best in SF, and the appetizers and desserts also very creative. We like this menu, and although not a bargain, it's good value for the money.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMA Solid Dining ExperienceI dined at Bluestem with a group of six for a going-away party. We started leisurely at the bar for nicely done cocktails. We were then seated upstairs which allowed for a more relaxed and private setting w/o the need to shouting over each other. The server was very knowledgeable and helpful. The food choices were varied and tasty. I had the pork dish made 3 different ways which I really enjoyed. All in all a very solid dining experience which I could recommend.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing!Had such a great anniversary at Bluestem and am so glad my husband and I came here. Food was so delicious and the staff was so helpful! We asked for a recommendation on a beer and the manager suggested one and now it is my husband's favorite beer. We live far away but it will now be our place to go when we are in SF. Thank you everyone at Bluestem for making my husband and I's first anniversary dinner so special!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMSurprise find in Market Bus TowerVery modern brasserie on ground floor of business building. Nice décor, great wrap around bar. Interesting menu, with some modern twist on traditional.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good!We were staying at the Four Seasons and needed
a place close by, Blue Stem was cozy and had everything we wanted.
We tried the asparagus soup and the catch of the day,
Perfectly prepared and great service!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMA pleasant surpriseI'd never heard of this restaurant until a friend recommended it when I was looking for a place to have a good lunch. Though it's in the heart of downtown, it was wonderfully quiet & cool indoors on a warm day. ). Our server was exceptional, and the four of us had a delicious meal with a very nice rosé. One of us had the frittata, which was very good. Also recommended: the steak tartar with quail egg. Unlike many restaurants, this one offered a well-chosen cheese platter in addition to sweet desserts---but no one complained about the cookie jar or the Honolulu Hangover, either.
The decor and flowers of Bluestem are elegant and tasteful; I highly recommend this restaurant and definitely plan to return.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWe found this gem near ourWe found this gem near our hotel on a cold windy night. The food was outstanding. Service was excellent too. Very enjoyable, so much so, I returned for a second meal the next evening.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMMuy Delisioso!!!I was very impressed by this restaurant. The food and service was awesome. The food was different for sure. With the turn around in the City, I hope this restaurant will be around for a long time. I will definitely be back.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOpen 7 days, handy we lookingOpen 7 days, handy we looking for somewhere open at 4:00pm. Had a quick bite. I had the arugula salad, husband had the burger, fries and asparagus wrapped with pancetta. All delicious. Will go back and have a full meal. All cooked fresh considering the hour.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBluestemGreat theme cocktails, the food is well prepared and presentation is done just right. The "road trip" themed menu items are a whimsical twist on Americana.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAdding to the work dinner listBluestem was delightful, the food was delicious, the ambiance was inviting yet hip, love the artistic menu & the service stood up to many of my other favorites.
Come here for a dinner with a friend, significant other or a small work dinner.
Will be back!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of my SF Favorites!Great cocktail and wine list. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Danielle was fantastic and accommodating to one my demanding guests! I love this place. Great place for groups, happy hour or date night!!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMUnique!Very unique drink and dessert menu. I had the mini cookie selection for dessert. Delicious and can't remember the last time that was a menu item. The owner stopped by our table and chatted with us for a bit. That was very unexpected also. I will be back when I am in San Francisco for dinner again. They also do a weekend brunch, I am told.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMfood and service were excellent.food and service were excellent. a good restuarant in an unexpected place, touristy and within a hotel.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect Museum Day Lunch VenueWhat a great spot for lunch located so close to the museums! From the moment we went into Bluestem Brasserie to the moment we left, we enjoyed every aspect. The maitre d' moved our reservation up very graciously. The menu has a lively, almost self-deprecating tone, very refreshing after so many restaurants that take themselves too seriously. Our waiter was a gem, understanding our need to share dishes, providing us with fresh plates for that purpose, refilling our water glasses frequently. My only complaint is that we were never offered ice in our water on a very hot day. However, a minor glitch in a very delightful lunch experience.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat if you are not in a hurryA friend from out of town was staying at the Marriot Hotel, and this was the conveniently located restaurant my wife and I chose to take her to. We knew we would have about 2 hours to visit with her, and that worked out well, because that is about how long it took us to have appetizers, a main course, and dinner. The restaurant was noisy but not too noisy for nice conversation, and it was a very comfortable place to enjoy each other's company. The food was excellent, prices reasonable, and the service was attentive, though, as I said, slow. This is a great place to take an out of town friend, especially when you want to have time for a nice long visit in a comfortable and convenient location that is close to the convention center.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWell worth it!!Very amazing desserts, fantastic service, and delicious food! An excellent choice for a business dinner.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMI took a group of 8 ladiesI took a group of 8 ladies who had never eaten there. They all expressed how much they liked the food and the setting. Our waiter, Sean, was very accomodating and helpful.
As we left, they all thanked me for organizing our lunch at such a great place. Most said they would be back.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMPretty goodA relaxing dinner was exactly what I needed for a long week at work. My fiancee and I decided to give Bluestem a try after reading the positive reviews of others. We made a reservation at 7:30 on a friday night, and was promptly seated to our table. The first thing that we enjoyed was the ambiance and the thought put into the decor. The fresh flowered center piece really added a sophisticated touch.
We had the Roasted Bone Marrow and Fried Green tomato Caprese. Black Truffle Cavatelli, Apple-Fed Pork with Rye Spaetzle and for desert the Honolulu hangover. A few of the dishes was a little to heavy on the olive-oil but other than that the flavors were pretty good. Overall awesome experience4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMeverything is good on theeverything is good on the menu, great cocktails and friendly staff4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGood choice for vegetariansAnother delicious lunch! Wish they had outside seating, though.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMHeld a business meeting here...aHeld a business meeting here...a bit noisy. Would have preferred the round wood table in the corner but it was already booked. Hopefully next time we can get that table otherwise too noisy to hold a meeting related outing here.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Business Meeting VenueWe used this venue for a business dinner meeting. Everyone enjoyed their entrees, especially our guest who was "literally giddy" over the Australian fish. We were referred to the Bluestem by the concierge at the Marriott Marquis. He said it was special, and it was.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMI hosted a birthday partyI hosted a birthday party here for my boyfriend's birthday and we were very impressed with the service and the food. Our waitor was very knowlegable on the menu and drinks offered which helped us make diner and drink choices. We received our drinks and food in a timely manor and they were all very good good. I was a little unhappy with the flavoring of the artichoke on my dish and the flavoring of the duck that my boyfriend got, however everything else was delicious. We were also very happy with the fact that we were able to reserve the big round wood table by the window, it really made our dinner and party really special.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and service. DifferentGreat food and service. Different items on the menu but very appetizing. Very convenient to the Palace Hotel where we stayed and everyone was most accomodating for our group of six. The server was very knowledgable responsive to our requests. this was a quasi-business meeting so having things be predictable and timely was much appreciated. Would go back in a heart-beat and would highly recommend it.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful experienceWe had a wonderful experience at Bluestem. We ordered 2 of the 3 fish dish offerings and loved them both. The menu was different with lots of interesting choices. Cocktails were great and different and the wine by liters was a great way to go. Service was professional and reception couldn't have treated us nicer! Overall a great experience! We'll be returning!!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMLamb ham...who knew!Great place to try many different dishes. The Chautucerie selection is excellent. The lamb ham is always notable.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great lunch at Bluestem. We had a great lunch at Bluestem. It's conveniently located, takes reservations, and the food was terrific. The menu is fairly meat heavy, but all of the dishes, particularly the steak frites, looked wonderful. We had the fried green tomatoes with burrata and a salad. Great food. Not inexpensive. Quiet enough for a meeting but lively atmosphere.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMMenu descriptions are overlyMenu descriptions are overly fussy, not very helpful. Food is so-so. Professional and helpful staff, though.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was the third time IThis was the third time I have eaten at Bluestem for lunch. The service was great, the food epic and the ambiance was comfortable a stylish. We never felt rushed to finish up and clear the table for the next patrons. The coffee was also great. Go there when you have a chance. If you make it before noon your are very likely to get seated immediately. If after noon I suggest a reservation.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding service. DeliciousOutstanding service. Delicious meal.
Left me with a glow.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMgroup gatheringGreat food and excellent wine selections. The menu doesnt have a large selection and the dishes are unique, so you need to check it out before you go. The service and decor are top notch. We had a large group of 12, and everyone found something they enjoyed. The prices average for SF, though the portions are not large; so dont expect to fill up unless you really want to spend some extra money on the appetizers... The filet mignon is outstanding, but certainly not a true 8oz. All of the fish dishes were flavorfull and cooked perfectly. Short ribs and egg noodle special for monday was very good; and one person tried the burger, and loved it. Deserts were excellent; vanilla custard and hawaiian hangover were the top.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMI sat on their roof top deckI sat on their roof top deck and was able to enjoy their savory bone marrow and special of the evening, signature Bluestem Burger. Not only was the food perfection far and away the service was spectacular. Table visits from their management topped the night. I wish I could have remember the name of female manager that suggested the Honolulu Hangover for dessert, sinfully delightful.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThe giant natural wood tableThe giant natural wood table by the windows is fantastic for a large party.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMI will DEFINATELY go back!I will DEFINATELY go back! Recommendations !!!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were given a table in theWe were given a table in the bar. Comfy and private as not much use of bar area that day. We were treated very well by all the staff. Bar tender was awesome.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMI've eaten here several times.I've eaten here several times. The food is always solid. What separates it from other places is the great service. From the front counter to the table, this places is always super friendly and accomidatating.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWent here for the first timeWent here for the first time last Sunday with a supplier who had just arrived from France. I had an outstanding frisee aux lardons salad with duck confit added and the Frenchman had the bavette steak with eggs. Now that I've discovered Bluestem, I will return here with my family soon.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMNot a rushed dinner...OUTSTANDING!This was a surprise birthday dinner for my husband. Originally, the reservation was for 12, but there was actually 13 in our party; the hostess, Angelica was very nice and accommodated us without hesitation. Our waiter, Sean, was the best! He took the time to explain the menu and their specials, answered everyone's Q&A's calmly and unhurried, and even made the effort to assure that my husband enjoyed his alcoholic mixed drink (if he didn't like it, then Sean would gladly exchange it for him). Everything was great: from the service, to the appetizers, to the dinners (see menu). The wine & champagne was superb as well! The wait staff always made sure that our water glasses were filled & freq. checked in w/us...a rare find these days.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth it!Sam our waiter was awesome! Matt, the manager stopped by to see how everything was. Personable staff. Our reservation was at 8:00, we arrived 8:15, I called ahead to say we were running late. We didn't sit until almost 9pm. The food took a long time to comment out, but it was worth the wait. Dessert was fabulous! Party of 6, I thought gratuity would be added, but it want. Great experience overall :)3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWe made a last minute lunchWe made a last minute lunch reservation for a party of 5, which Bluestem handled without a problem. Each guest found an interesting lunch item to order, and by the smiles, I think they enjoyed the fare. I liked the wine list, which is appropriately priced and allows some non-California options, which suits my tastes. As for the food, I think the salads are all terrific, and I particularly liked the duck confit salad.
The space is pretty large, and it can feel a bit underpopulated. That translates into a good business lunch place where conversations can be quiet and discreet.2/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMade a last minute reservationMade a last minute reservation for a Sunday brunch. Surprisingly good menu, from which we tried the Eggs Benedict and Country Breakfast Hash (with corned beef). Both were delicious and we would come back for those or to try some of the other items on the menu. Their complimentary mini scones with lemon curd to start the meal were also lovely. Service was friendly and quick and the place wasn't packed like other brunch spots in the city, which was much appreciated.2/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome!Took a friend for his B'Day; there were 4 of us & we had a great time! The GM came by our table for a chat & made us feel right at home.
The Friday night Burger Special is a do not miss: check it out!!
it's become one of our favorite place in the City, and the best gourmet burger in town.8/24/2012 12:00:00 AM
