Wasn't sure what to expect given the location in the base of a mall but was a very good experience right down to some great drinks from the bar. We were there for brunch and the pork belly & sausage hash was definitely the highlight and the frittata also delighted. The passing crowd on Market Street made for enjoyable people watching throughout the meal.

I love Bluestem every time I visit, it does not disappoint. The menu is eclectic and vibrant. The menu truly changes with the seasons so you can count on fresh ideas, inventive flavor combinations and 1st rate dining. The wait staff is extremely knowledgable and hats off to them for familiarizing themselves with so many menu options and nuances. I impress friends and associated with Bluestem whenver I bring them here. And, Adam is always so friendly, warm and welcoming. Bluestem has one of the most excting menus in the city and its interiors are stunning.

We selected Bluestem Brasserie based on a combination of reviews and location. It was very convenient to the Marriott Marquis in San Francisco, with plenty of inexpensive parking nearby around Yerba Buena even on a Friday night. The food was excellent, local, and innovative. The wines on tap were okay, but didn't wow anyone. It was noisy for a business discussion, but not so bad as to be unworkable. Service was a bit slow, but reasonably attentive. We were very pleased that our guest was graciously seated even though we had not yet arrived.

We had dinner during a conference. The pork belly was excellent, duck fat potatoes great. Our service was good until dessert... when asked a la mode or not , a term my companion was not familiar. My companion asked for ice cream and was met with an obnoxious "I asked you if you wanted a la mode before, that's what it means ...." slowly and loudly... why couldn't you just say a simple OK? We were kind to you server, you should be able to show some kindness to others. Just a warning for those taking foreigners to eat here- be prepared for obnoxious comments!

Requested intimate table (booth? upstairs?) for our foursome as we traveled great distance to take S.F. daughter and husband to dinner. Instead, we were given a table (not a booth) in the noisy downstairs - had to shout throughout the meal to hear each other. Short, but decent wine list (husband and I are St. Helena wine professionals so know our wine lists), but the "stemware" is merely heavy-duty stemless glasses, the on-tap Albarino is served in these as is the lovely Merry Edwards Pinot. Server was GREAT at first but then disappeared - we refilled our own wines - server non-existent when we wanted our bill after dessert and $$$$ later. The food was delicious. Will not recommend this noisy, impersonal restaurant.

I've been here three times for lunch now. It's a solid venue — you get seated quickly, the menu is varied, the food is good, and the restaurant is quiet (perfect for a meeting). However, for a rather quiet / empty venue, I'd expect faster service — particularly for getting the check. I just wish they were using OT payments so I can get out of there when I need to run to something else.

Bluestem has a great location and it's fun, but the food can be better. Some of the dishes are under seasoned. Also, why in steak frites, would you bury the frites under gravy? It just ensures that they will be soggy and inedible by late in the meal.

Got lucky enough to be dining on the first night of the new fall menu and it was GREAT!! Coffee and Porcini rubbed New Strip.. . yum, bacon, maple brussel sprouts -- amazing, and worry not, the mac and cheese is still on the menu and still a must order item. Fresh take on the dessert menu is fun and delicious -- the fritters were perfect and how can you go wrong with a cookie jar!

Found on line, tasty-looking menu and open 'til 11 near the Marriott. Ambience more corporate than I had imagined (had the feel of a chain restaurant and was filled with businesspeople). Service was excellent--friendly & efficient. Brussels sprouts salad had nice fresh crunch but was nearly dressingless--needed lemony zing. Tomato soup was more like a sauce: thick and intensely reduced, overbearing. Lamb meatballs were delicious, juicy with interesting spices. Mushroom terrine nicely presented with bread & condiments, but the tanginess overshadowed the mushroomness. Share some of that tang with the Brussels sprouts and voila. Still I'd go back: a good late night find near BART, plenty of seating, not noisy, and I'm a fan of small plates.

Saturday evening - really excellent service, and superb food. The charcuterie starter was particularly good, and the chicken was extraordinarily succulent. I particularly recommend the cheese board - small portions of a delicious spectrum of cheeses, each with a supplementary taste of something like caramelised fig. Really delicious. And our waitress was exceptionally helpful and friendly

We started or meal with the brussel sprout salad and arugula salad. Both were excellently balanced in flavors that complimented each other. The main course not so much. The chicken was nothing special. The flavor was like baked chicken. The shrimp tortellini was flavorful but miniscule. For the price we expected either more flavor or more quantity. On a big plus, the 50/50 dessert was phenomenal, a great ending to a rather bland meal.

I'd been drooling over the menu online for weeks before we went and everything lived up to my expectations. The food and cocktails here are fantastic (pork belly, steak tartar, charcuterie board, butter poached steak and cocktails are to die for), and we will definitely be returning. We had dinner here before seeing a show and everyone was very aware of making sure we got out in time for our show without making us feel rushed through the meal. The staff was fantastic and our waiter, Tom K., was the best. Friendly, knowledgeable, and made great recommendations. I can't wait to take people here and I told everyone to make sure they check this place out. My husband and I look forward to coming back!

Our party of six for brunch was not greeted graciously at all by gentlemen at the desk. Shown to a table by a doorway, next to the waitress station in an empty restaurant! Requested a more suitable table, but we had no idea that there was an upper level and outdoor terrace. Certainly would have appreciated seating in the more attractive areas. Was good recommendation by our concierge. Food and service were excellent. Brunch was a combination of traditional selections superbly interpreted with fresh additions and truly interesting fare. Everything coming out of the kitchen looked delicious. We would return, but would request specific seating. The overall rating here would have been higher, but unlike the food, our reception left a bad taste!

Loved loved loved this place. The wines on tap were amazing (I had the Syrah and the cote de rhone) and the food was fantastic. Mussels were cooked to perfection and the white wine sauce was good enough to drink. Great atmosphere and wonderful service - I was travelling alone on business and had made a reservation for one (so sad). They reserved me a great little seat in the lounge that was perfect for people watching on market street and didn't make me feel awkward all alone! Loved this place!

This venue has one of the best bars I've ever frequented. It is the acoustically quietest bar in the city. You can simply speak to the person next to you without raising your voice at all. One can eat at the bar, but taking a table is a real treat. The people who wait on your table are all really friendly, knowledgeable, fun, and just the right level of attentive. You are likely to see and/or speak with the owner, who is genuinely interested in your dining experience. The bartenders are quick, efficient, and fun. I love this place and the people who work there. I only wish they would be required to sign a 5 year contract because it's so sad to see one of them move on to another job.

We really enjoyed our experience at BB - the food, drinks were great as well as the bartender. We really liked our waitress, but she wasn't as attentive as she could have been. Our only complaint was that when we arrived (with a reservation) the restaurant was very empty and we were seated in the very back corner booth where the service team enters the kitchen...C'mon..... to their credit, they moved us to a very nice table when we asked. Would definitely dine here again....
