  • "We went on a Sunday when they opened. Quite and great service. Been there later in evening and difficult to hear each other when crowded. Ask for a corner booth if sound is an issue."

  • "This has always been a 5-Star gem in Highland Park. The owners, Joni and Jim, are simply wonderful. The food is excellent and having the chef come to your table to introduce himself and chat for a moment adds that personal touch that Bluegrass is so known for."

  • "Excellent food, extensive menu, intimate feel, and good ambiance. I would recommend making reservations due to the small size and high volume of patrons."

  • "Tried this place after seeing reviews on Open Table. Inside the vibe is fairly casual and it is a small place. They seem to want to be on the foodie side and the prices are on the high end for such a place. If the food was spectacular it might be worth it- but the food was good not great. If your expectaions are not too high and you don't care about price- give it a try."

  • "Bluegrass is one of the best restaurants on the North Shore. Aside from the excellent food and service, the owners are always there keeping an eye on things and the chef is amazing. They genuinely care about their customers and will do whatever it takes to make sure you have a great experience. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant."

  • "Hankering for some Cajun food? You don't have to good all the way to New Orleans to enjoy it. Come here! And be sure to try their smoked corned beef. Yes it's the brisket, but it's corned then smoked; not the least bit dry and amazingly flavorful. They smoke all their own meats so try the ribs, etc. too. Worth your time to go here."

  • "Wonderful New Orleans flavor! The alligator apps and Blue Plate were awesome. All I needed was to add some hot sauce!!! I do understand you can't serve the average patron with the heat I like so I have no problem make it "spicy"!"

  • "The menu, wines and craft beers are regularly updated to attract the returning customers. The owners and servers are friendly and helpful. They are very attentive to families with young children. And I shouldn't forget to mention that the food is very good."

  • "We had the pleasure of dining at Bluegrass for dinner on fat Tuesday, it was exceptional! The menu boasted all the New Orleans favorites from Hurricanes to Banana Fosters. All the food was fresh , presented beautifully and delicious, we all were even given beads!"

  • "I am a certified foodie. What a dilemma for me... do I tell you how amazing this restaurant is and risk it becoming too hard to get in or keep it to myself. If I were to tell you I would tell you that the food is amazing, my favorites include "real" gumbo, to sea bass, to risotto to ribs, and then there is dessert, or I could tell you about how my son loves being challenged by the one pound burger, but then I would want to tell you about the great the people running this amazing but quiet by today's standard restaurant and next thing you know there will be a line out onto the street at my favorite neighborhood gem...So I just think I will keep this to myself."

  • "We just love dining here as the food is exceptional and you can tell it is prepared with a lot of thought. I just love the chocolate martini flight too..yum. What a treat the meats are as they are prepared slowly and so tasty. I love the beans and peanut brittle too. We try to order something different each time we go there and are never disappointed. This visit was fun as it is Mardi Gras time and of course this restaurant celebrates that with some free beaded necklaces. Fun stuff."

  • "The food was excellent. We split a salad, which was good but tiny. The waiter seemed disappointed when we decided not to order wine or any other alcoholic beverage. It was a cold night and we sat near a window which was extremely breezy."

  • "Tremendous food & extremely accommodating staff set the stage for a relaxing, yet festive evening with old friends. It's quite likely everything on the menu is phenomenal, but I can personally guarantee the jambalaya is world class!! This was our first Bluegrass experience . . . we'll be back soon!!"

  • "Now that I'm no longer as accessible to the city I am learning what the North Shore has to offer & boy does it have a LOT to offer. This place definitely gives any Cajun/Creole place in the city itself a run for it's money. What a great variety of earthy, hearty food. Jim & Joanie have such a wonderful place I LOVE coming here. It's worth the drive if you're withing the area."

  • "The menu is diverse and the food was very good. In fact it was hard deciding what to order because everything sounded so tasty. I ordered the Tilapia which was delicious. But our waiter was just plain disinterested. It seemed like he didn't want to be there and was going through the motions."

  • "Menu is diverse and everything we had was great! Definitely a place we will return to. Jambalaya is outstanding. BBQ items are good. Service was quick and friendly. The server or manager even bought us an appetizer for no reason other than wanting us to try more items on the menu and it was all great. I believe our server was Diane and she was amazing!"
