"I was really looking forward to a "splurge" at the bluefire grill based on previous reviews. While our server was wonderful, the food fell short. Prices were high, portions small and presentation/flavors nothing special (except for dessert). I ordered the smoked chicken pasta with pancetta and what arrived was very basic, the cream was somewhat thick and congealed...not a $27 dish...more like a nice $12 pasta. My husbands pork ragu was also unremarkable. The best item ordered at our table was the risotto. While we were sitting there, staff walked by with industrial glass holders (definitely something for the dishwasher and inappropriate for walking through a fine dining room)."

"We made reservations at this restaurant for our 10 year anniversary, wanting a special night out. We were not disappointed! Everyone from the manager to the hostess congratulated us on our anniversary...the atmosphere was elegantly refined....the food was sublime! Outstanding service by our waiter, Tyler!"

"Totally disappointing for the up-scale restaurant in a supposedly resurgent La Costa resort. Food was under-whelming (one dish had to be returned); service dragged (even with the waiter saying the restaurant was slow); ambiance reminded us of a strip-center lodge-like place - all NOT what you expect from La Costa! If you want to try a truly elegant and fine dining resort experience in the area go to Vivace @ the Park Hyatt in Carlsbad (only 3 minutes from La Costa)!"

"Thought the wines were overpriced and the whole dinner also. Made the reservation for Open Table in my husband's name and it was put in mine so we didn't get the points. There are a lot of good retaurants around so we'll try others.Husband's name is George."

"Service and food were very good on the night we went for dinner. Salmon entree and tomato soup were wonderful! Seafood hot pot was ok. Kids menu had typical kid fare of mac and cheese, hot dog, pb & j. Food was a little overpriced but probably to be expected for a hotel restaurant."

"Decent, but not great service. "Smallish" menu, "smallish" wine list.Food was of excellent quality, but the portions could be bigger. Overall we like this restaurant better in the summer time when you can sit outside afterwards for a drink."
