Bluebird TavernFun & EasyBluebird Tavern offers a simple, diverse menu. East Coast oysters were super-fresh and briney, served with a vinegary mignonette & spicy horseradish cocktail sauce. Tempura soft-shelled crab were crispy-crunchy, with creamy, crabby insides, served on parsnips (advertised as mashed, but came sliced instead), and sweet-sour pickled paper-thin carrots. A bit of spicy remoulade or tartar sauce would've added a lot. Had the appetizer of 3 local Vermont cheeses as dessert. Nice selection of blue, creamy and salty, served with a housemade chutney and french bread toasts.
Delicious Beefeater martini, followed by an Austrian Gruner Veltliner. Perfect. Efficient and friendly service from the waitstaff, and timely delivery of courses. Most enjoyable.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic as always! This was my first time to the St. Paul location and I was just as blown away with their food and service as I was when they were on Riverside. A wonderful experience to have when visiting Burlington.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMMarvelous brunch, large portionsThe place smells like warm maple syrup and good bacon, and the menu reflects that nod to comfort and imaginative uses of food. Even the menu language contains this flair: A mimosa is "OJ and Bubbles"--well, why not? The orange juice contains pulp, and the glass is big; so it's different from the usual, and it might as well have a name to reflect that difference. Come here for the good food, the well-trained staff, the smells, and the good spirit that pervades the place.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat FoodGroup of five and all had a fantastic meal. The salads were unique and very good. The soft-shell crab was very tastey. We have been there a few tines and would definitely go back.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and the service wereThe food and the service were outstanding. I particularly enjoyed the fiddleheads--a memorable dish.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMNice Street diningOur server was fantastic - on top of everything and knew the menu, including wines. We took advantage of the Burlington restaurant week. Both of our dishes were good and eating outdoors on the street made for a wonderful evening.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service, delicious,Great service, delicious, inventive menu - great place. IT was a wonderful evening, except for one thing....if only it weren't quite so noisy! The cement floor and bare walls give it an oddly cold feeling that bounces sound all around. A good place to go with friends and enjoy some great cuisine, though.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFun, vibrant restaurant inFun, vibrant restaurant in Burlington, just off of Church Street. Accommodated a group of 5 easily---good energy, service and food4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMOysters in Burlington, VermontWe loved our meal - especially the oysters! Very inventive choices on the menu. I had the lobster with strozzapreti with morels and almonds - yum. My husband had the smoked chicken pie - wonderful. The only fault we found was that our waiter did not tell us about the specials. We heard them after-the-fact from a waiter at the next table. He also never asked us if we wanted dessert.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMHigh praise for Bluebird TavernOur family enjoyed a delicious and beautifully prepared and served dinner.
