Diner Reviews
  • "Great location, ok food, indifferent service. I always request a table by the window when making a reservation and it has never been honored unless I get there before my guests and make a scene. Not sure why the reservation system or the hostess can't accommodate when tables by the windows or over looking them are available. Takes away from what should be a delightful experience."

  • "The Bar downstairs was very energetic and refreshing with the live music being played. Food was outstanding and the atmosphere appropriate for a late dinner after a long week of work. Have been here several times and never disappointed."

  • "Recommended by a friend. Great atmosphere. Excellent service. There were 4 of us. Four top shelf drinks at the bar were $51 + tip. Four entrees, a premium table appetizer, a bottle of wine and two desserts and four coffees were over $230 + tip. The food was very good but not the best. I would go there again. It seemed very reliable."

  • "BWG never disappoints --- take my out of town foodies there and they love it and the wine list is wonderful by the bottle, but when I dine with non drinker types usually order by the glass and think it needs improvement."

  • "There were four of us, old friends catching up. The food was wonderful, the staff was warm and friendly. We probably spent a longer time than most, just talking, but no one hurried us and we felt very welcome. The noise level was never loud enough to spoil our conversation. Will definitely come back."

  • "The front desk didn't offer to take my coat ... that was a first considering I've been dining here 3 or 4 times a year for like 10 years."

  • "Very popular for brunch, and the complimentary drink with your brunch is a nice touch. My overseas guests always enjoy coming here. The jazz downstairs is great if you're less interested in talking to your dining companions."

  • "Had an awesome dinner at Blue Water Grill and loved it so much I ended up going back the next week. Unfortunately the menu had changed and the item I was so excited to have again (simply grilled branzino) was no longer an option. There were plenty of other choices on the menu but after trying a few it was disappointing because the simply grilled branzino remained my favorite."

  • "My husband and I had our Anniversary Dinner here on 3/29/14 and were pleased with the warm and friendly reception by the staff. We were visiting from Utah and made reservations for 6pm, but arrived an hour early and were seated promptly. Our waiter delivered excellent service. The food was good and reasonably priced. We ordered the filet mignon and a 2 lb lobster and were not disappointed. Lobster always seems smaller than I think it will be so I am glad we ordered the 2 lb. Great dining experience. Would recommend."

  • "Blue Water Grill is the one that stands apart from the others. Not far apart, just a bit. It seems the service tries just a bit harder, the cocktails are just a bit tastier and just a bit more potent, the seafood just a bit better. The whole chain of these (Ocean Grill, the Atlantic Grills, Blue Fin) are always good. Blue Water Grill is just a bit better"

  • "There is something on the menu for everyone. Every course was perfect. Great wine menu with your non typical selections. The raw bar is positioned at the main rear level. Not the best seating location but something to keep in mind. We will return."

  • "The cherrystones we had for an appetizer were very good, as was the brussel sprouts salad. The main course of scallops and shrimp was nothing special and the shrimp did not taste fresh. The swordfish was very good. We were seated at a small table sitting next to each other, which was awkward. However, the service was excellent and the atmosphere fun."

  • "Dinner: Sat promptly to the upper level in the corner overlooking the main level. The mix drink menu was disappointing. Ordered: fried calamari, spicy tuna roll, and short rib ravioli for appetizers. Everything was amazing. The short rib ravioli was the favorite of the group. However, you only receive three piece. Dinner: we ordered the sea bass, branzino, and 2 blue cheese crusted filet mignons. Everyone loved their dishes. Sea bass melts in your mouth. The filets were cooked to each persons liking. Dessert: tres leches, banana tower, creme brûlée, molten chocolate and cookies for the table. All the dessert went. Waiter said tower did not come with caramel but it did. Tres leches was my favorite. We left very happy. Would come back."

  • "Our server Ryan R. was so attentive. Our drink's, appetizers & entrees were just as we ordered them. We had modified some of our requests as I have allergies to avocado's. From the minute that we were seated, the service was simply A+. The shrimp cocktail was great, the shrimp should have been more of a "jumbo" size, but they were delicious. We had the shaved brussel sprout salad. I had modified my salad to include the addition of romaine lettuce & anchovies with caesar salad dressing & it was so tasty. Our entrees-my wife had a steamed 2 lb lobster which was taken out of the shell upon request & it was so sweet & tasty. I choose the scallops & shrimp entree-it was a bit small, but delicious. This was a prelude to seeing Billy Joel at MSG."

  • "Excellent brunch spot. Very charming atmosphere and good food, especially if you like seafood. My only minor criticism was that the lobster bisque could've used some lobster chunks, but the presentation and inclusion of grapefruit in the bisque were awesome!"

  • "Blue Water Grill does a wonderful job accommodating food allergies. The servers seem experienced in handling allergies, and the kitchen has a system in place to check dishes for allergic diners before the food goes out to the customer. In addition, the restaurant is accommodating in making substitutions and guiding the diner with choices in the case of an allergy."

  • "My husband love Blue Water Grill-we are never disappointed and alwys feel so relaxed and happy when we are there! The service is always top notch and the food is delicious. We try to make it a place for special occasions but find ourselves going when we have the opportunity because we can always count on it for a great experience."

  • "I went with a friend before seeing an Off-Broadway show. I had eaten here before, but she had not. Restaurant recommendations can be tricky, but I felt pretty confident that she would have a good experience. We each had a salad. I had the brussel sprout Caesar salad which was one of the best things I have ever eaten. My friend thoroughly enjoyed her kale salad as well. We both had crab cakes for dinner. The crab was tender and sweet with no filler. We both agreed that we couldn't have chosen a better place!"

  • "We have going to Blue Water Grill for years and always have saved it for a special occasion..our "go to" restaurant. Unfortunately, the last two times we have gone, we have been disappointed. The appetizers are always good and this last time were the only things that WERE good. The tuna over noodles was overpowered by the sauce and while I ordered mine rare..it continued cooking while on the plate. Sauce was too salty and overpowering. Unfortunately, three in our party ordered this and we all felt the same. The fourth dish was grilled shrimp and scallops and unfortunately the shrimp were way overcooked and the scallops were just ok. It's too bad..we used to love this restaurant but now are looking for a new "fave.""

  • "I've been to Blue Water Grill before, and always in the jazz room. This time, I was on the ground floor, so now I know that's great too! Took my sister there for her birthday, during Restaurant Week. Prix fixe was imaginative and beautifully presented. I didn't tell you that it was a birthday lunch, but the couple next to us had done so (for their table) and a nice cookie plate with a wee candle arrived. They were delighted, and that was part of our fun too."
