A word from Blue Water Grill- Jazz Room
Blue Water Grill's Jazz Room is located on the lower level room of the popular Union Square seafood and sushi restaurant, Blue Water Grill. Dine in the Jazz Room for live music nightly beginning at 6pm. The full Blue Water Grill dinner menu is available in the Jazz Room, and the private room is available for events of up to 125 guests.

Blue Water Grill's menu highlights the freshest seafood daily, with innovative offerings at the sushi bar and coming out of the kitchen. Blue Water Grill is also known for Sunday Brunch overlooking the Union Square Park Farmer's Market.

  • "My husband and I dined at the Blue Water Grill's Jazz Room on Sunday evening, 4/6/14. The room itself is pleasant enough, if a little bland and you really do feel like you are in the basement. Our waiter, whose name I sadly do not recall, was the highlight of our evening. He was personable, attentive without being overbearing, and very friendly. The food was ok - nothing great but we enjoyed it nonetheless. The jazz ensemble was good, if a little too loud, but again it was enjoyable. Next time I would book a table upstairs or out on the patio when the weather is better."

  • "I've been to Blue Smoke several times but only in the upstairs dining room. We decided to book a reservation with the Jazz room as a change of pace and because we like Jazz music. I was not impressed -- the band was on break more than they played. Further, they pack you in so that every time the next table or the wait staff has to get through, they end up hitting you by accident. For the price, the downstairs experience does not cut it. I love this restaurant and highly recommend it -- just make sure you are sitting in the main dining room and not downstairs in the Jazz room. It cheapens the entire experience."

  • "We were in New York City for our honeymoon. A friend of mine recommended this restaurant. It was exactly what we were looking for when we were searching for a romantic last night out celebrating our honeymoon. We had such a nice experience. We chose to be seated in the jazz room, and we were so pleased with that choice. Our waiter, when he asked where we were from was so excited to see a Pittsburgh couple! He loves our hockey team the Penguins. The food was exceptional and the dessert was even better. If you go, please order the banana ice cream tower - It is fabulous! Thanks for a memorable evening out!"

  • "we had a great dinner: crispy fried calamari, lobster rolls and maki as appetizers then as entrees I took the salmon and my husband the tuna steak. The fish was great, perfectly cooked and fit with an amazing lobster smach potatoes and mushroorms.We ended with a vanilla cream brulet...delicious!The live jazz was very good...maybe they could have played a little bit more."

When I make a reservation using OpenTable I request a booth and that is exactly what they had for me. The desserts are great also and where can you get freshly baked chocolate chip cookies!"

  • "Monday night during Restaurant week=no crowds, quick seating, attentive service. The RW menu posted online had changed completely by week 2. (Did you run out of all appetizers and entrees in one week bc of a busy week 1 or was it false advertising?) The menu had changed completely, so I ordered from the regular menu. The townhouse tower, supposedly for 1-2 diners, consisted of four mussels (good pico de gallo topping), four oysters (decent), two shrimp and half a small lobster tail (unremarkable), two clams and a small sauce dish of ceviche (both woeful) and one fresh, but teensy piece of king crab. The cooked clams were much better, as was the gelato served with the chocolate mousse cake. Band in the Jazz Room was enjoyable."

  • "My best friend and I literally booked this place 15 minutes before arriving and it was great for restaurant week! We got seated in the lovely live music jazz room downstairs. We didn't have to wait as we got our table and ordered drinks and food. We both got the lump crab salad for appetizer - which was a little bit smaller than expected but it was good. Then she got the pan seared bass and I got the rock shrimp & ricotta catavelli which were both really great.. and for dessert, the lemon berry tart and the chocolate mousse, which was good too. Overall, we had a great experience and ended up sitting and chatting for about 2 hours until the place emptied out."

  • "we reserved for pre-show dinner before seeing a mesmerizing and moving production, Arlington, at the Vineyard Theatre. It was listed on the Vineyard website and was a great suggestion. The wife's salmon was perfect and my "black and blue" rare tuna unforgettably delicious. Our waitress was very attentive and informed and our food was served in a timely and prompt manner. Succulent and nuanced flavors prepared expertly with great jazz on the side!"

  • "Booked dinner in the Jazz Room for 9.30pm. Arrived early, and the maitre d’ showed us to the bar, which although slightly cramped served us promptly. Once at the dinner table, the food was wonderful – clearly freshly caught. We had a meze of dishes which we chose at random from the menu and shared – better than having to pick just one. The jazz band were the main event – not too noisy; just a lovely atmosphere. Would recommend, especially to couples."

  • "It was of course a busy night for any restaurant during Valentine's Day but this particular restaurant kept its composure through out the night. The waiter was very cool and laided back, made the night for my date a very special experience. We were located downstairs where a live jazz group was playing contemporary Jazz and R&B. I even caught myself and others singing along to the music. The food was excellent. We had Roasted Organic Chicken and Jumbo Shrimp & Sea Scallops as our entrees and Crispy Calamari for appetizers. Can't wait til the weather gets better so I can experience the same thing outdoors. Great place!!!"

We just shared some calamari for an app- standard, nothing special. We each ordered a different fish entree, each which we loved. Only exception was the chocolate fondue dessert, because the chocolate was not warm. Overall nice experience."

  • "I'm a long time diner at Blue Water Grill and was extremely disappointed during my last visit: The singer in the Jazz Room was just awful, the appetizers we delivered room temperature rather than "hot", my shelled 2.5 pound lobster was served "shredded" without a tail or claws in a bowl on top of mushy vegetables and my date and I had to share a knife as the server never came over to ask how dinner was, if we needed anything, etc. Sorry Blue Water Grill, but I won't be back."
