If you ever want to go some place nice and cozy for a date and love seafood, this place is it. The portion sizes are a little small so you'll want an appetizer or two, but the food is very tasty and is put together on the plate very well. It was a little chilly at first before the room started filling up, but was perfect once it did. The band really pulled the restaurant together nicely and made for a great experience. The only qualm we had is that the dessert is a little too rich compared to the dinner and didn't pair as well. It was pretty but nowhere near as great as the entrees.

Can't go wrong on a Friday night with live entertainment and dinner! I would recommend they increase their raw bar a bit more since they are a seafood restaurant. Fish menu is nice, the highly recommend the seas bass and swordfish. The butter here is pretty good but the bread lacks flavor, needs improvement. Also for sparkling water, I prefer to have the bottled opened in front of me so I know it's not just tap water with the soda machine which create bubbles:) Just small improvements and can make this to a better restaurant.

I have always been a fan of Bluewater Grill but I haven't been by for brunch in a while and was meeting up without of town guests and thought the Jazz Room would be a good idea. I was wrong--it was an AWESOME idea! The music was wonderful--perfect volume for still carrying on a conversation. The food was excellent. And really quite a bargain since coffee and a cocktail are included with the breakfast items. I will definitely be back--I don't know why I had been away for so long!!

  • An Uneven Dining Experience

Went here for an anniversary dinner with my wife. I made reservations three weeks in advance. I also called ahead, spoke with the Sommelier who suggested two wines for our dinner. He said he would come by and present both wines when we arrive. We were seated in the Jazz room downstairs, nice enough room but the pics online make it much better looking than it is. It needs to be painted and the chairs and are a bit dated. But the room. is very, very noisy. We were seated right next to each other and it was still a bit hard to hear. The band was a quartet and the vocal were so distorted and low in the mix, you couldn't hear her. We waited for about 7 minutes before our waiter came by. He asked if wanted anything to drink and I asked for the wine list. We waited and waited, but the Sommelier never showed up. So I ordered a bottle and our apps and dinner. The waiter kept asking over and over if we wanted any additional apps. The food came. We both had Chilean Sea Bass which was truly excellent. I posted a pic on Yelp so u can see. We were still waiting for the Sommelier because we had wanted a special white wine with our meal. Both he and the waiter were know where to be found. I literally had a few bites left when the waiter finally showed up asking how the food was and if we wanted a drink? Again, very late and it was waste to drink another bottle at this point. We wrapped up with a coffee and some gelato - both very good. Total cost was $223 including the wine. I was disappointed in the service, especially since I called and personally spoke with the Sommelier. Wine is a huge part of dining out for us and I wanted this night for be very special. Although the food was good, the lack of attentive service, noise and disappointing ambiance made it much less special than it should have been. Again, good food, but we won't be going back.

In the beginning, they were a little busy so it was hard to get our waiter's attention. After waiting a bit, our server apologized and provided a complimentary dish. I didn't think it was necessary, but he did -- very kind! After that, full service attention, great food and great music. Though, I just wish the band didn't play as loud as they did. It wasn't all jazz so they didn't seem to take that volume aspect into too much account. Still great music!

I heard so much about the Blue Water Grill that my expectation level was high. We dined in the Jazz Room downstairs which was perfect. However our server was less than perfect! We felt like second class citizens because she paid little attention to us. I believe it had to do with the fact that we didn't order any drinks/wine. She spent so much time at the other tables that she never came to see if my entree was cooked to my request. By the time she finally came by my wife finished her entree and my "medium" Filet Mignon sat untouched because it was well done! This was in addition to us having to clear our own appetizer plates so the entree could be placed in front of us. Disappointing!

I had no prior knowledge of Blue Water Grill before I made the reservation. I also noticed that it was for the Jazz room. I called the restaurant to change to upstairs, but when we got there, the change had not been made. We decided to eat downstairs when the hostess said it was the best band that played there. She was right. Sugar Daddy was a great band!!!!! The music was a really nice touch. Food was really good. We had sushi and raw bar. The fish was all really fresh and tasty. Even the spinach and broccoli were fantastic. All-in-all it was a great night.

On our first night in NYC we booked a table on a friend's recommendation. The menu has a lot of different options and we were unsure about portion sizes and what was best to order but with the help of our waiter we selected delicious starters and mains. The music in the Jazz Restaurant really added to the ambiance and we both thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience.

It was my boyfriends birthday and I took him for dinner at the blue water grill - jazz room. What a beautiful night. The musicians played so sweetly and when they brought out the cake they played happy birthday. The waiter was awesome and service on point. The BEST part, the food. Every dish was done to perfection...I had lobster which they took out the shell for me. And he had blackened swordfish which was to die for. The appetizers were a hit also. Steamed dumplings, lobster roll (sushi) . Bottle of wine , crisp....everything was freshly cooked and we enjoyed it. I would highly recommend Blue Water grill for ANY occasion.

We had doctors visiting from Spain and took them to the Jazz Room for dinner. It was a fabulous experience. The jazz trio was sensational, and we didn't need to pay extra to hear them! The group played brilliantly, and not too loudly, so diners could still hear one another talk. The sushi was excellent. The service was slow but pleasant. As we were leaving, the jazz trio let some members of our group join them in making music; it was magical and an evening to remember.

It was my favorite place. Unfortunately I hadn't been there in 2 years and a lot has changed. The jazz room has music but not a jazz band which was ok because the band playing there was a nice trio and they did play good music. The specific foods I has wanted to order which are my two of ny fav items were the lobster bisque and the cavier. None of which they had. The menu has been downsized drastically. It went from a special place to dine and a great dining experience to one that I could get at 100 other places with better food. The food itself was good but I wouldn't have traveled all the way from NJ to NY just for that. Could have gone to the Chart House in NJ with way more food options and great ambiance.

The ambiance of the Jazz Room was great, the balance between the musicians and the lively chatter made for a pleasantly buzzing room. On top of that, the food was great. Our waitress seemed a bit young and perhaps was newly hired, and needs some more training. But the manager began to take care of us, and everything else was great.

Took our 92 year old aunt there for her bday. Our waiter was terrible. Oysters dropped on table - no explanation to type. Wine forgotten. Single glass brought then wrong bottle.asked for wine to be served with dinner. Food cool & got colder waiting for wine. Even tho we specified milestone bday, no particular attention paid besides a candle stuck in her dessert. Not worthy of the great signature dishes served- Chilean sea bass & swordfish both excellent but hard to appreciate when everything else botched. Disappointing.

After hearing how great this restaurant is from a friend for years, I was excited to give it a shot for restaurant week. The server was unenthusiastic and tired. It seemed our table was a chore for him to wait on. We also didn't get bread, while I noticed other tables had it. For starters, I liked my maki roll--it was a big portion, but my bf got the beet/peaches salad which was mediocre. The red snapper main was just OK. The red snapper was cooked nicely, but no seasoning. On the contrary, the rice pilaf tasted as if it had processed seasoning. I rarely eat processed food, so I thought it was gross. Way too salty. The deserts were nothing exciting either--a bit blank to be honest. Perhaps ordering from the regular menu is better?

I was in this restaurant about 2 years ago and it was great. I don't know what happened. I went there on Saturday, August 9 with my husband and my friend. The waitress could not describe or recommend anything. The drinks were awfull. We each ordered a seafood dish. My husbands shrimps were cold, so is my fish. Then the waiter broke dishes right by our table. They thought it was funny. No apologies. We decided to have a desert and coffee at some other place. I will never go back and will tell everyone I know to skip this restaurant.

I've been to the Blue Water Grill several times before and always loved it. About a year ago I stumbled on the Jazz Room, and loved the performance, the band was great and the singer amazing. It made for a exceptional experience. So, when planning a dinner with a musician friend I thought of the Jazz Room. What a disappointment! Instead of the jazz ensemble and chanteuse of first experience, there was a wedding grade band singing bland pop songs. The service and food were excellent, but the amateurish pop music spoiled the moment.

The new Executive Chef has completely gutted the menu and many of the old favourites such ss the crabcakes and lobster bisque are gone. It is now more of a bistro menu serving steak and pork sliders (seriously, what the hell????) and cannot be classed as a seafood restaurant any longer. To say that we were extremely disappointed is an understatement. This was our favourite NYC restaurant but sadly we won't be back.
