  • "This restaurant continues to please, from the ambience, professionalism of the service and quality of the menu. We will continue to go whenever we are in Vancouver."

  • "Ambience, food, wine and service...all was exceptional. Our server was what made the evening a wonderful evening. He was attentive but not "hovering", helpful but not overbearing. And the food...all we could ask for. All told, a wonderful evening. We will return. Frank and Toni"

  • "We go here every trip for great sushi, oysters, and seafood. Special items like the chickpea spread and truffle fires are a treat."

  • "A fantastic seafood restaurant in the trendy Yale Town area of Vancouver. Our sablefish and halibut were outstanding. Our wine surprisingly modestly priced compared to other high end restaurants."

  • "This was the first time my wife and I have been at the restaurant and we were very impressed, on the recommendation from others we decided to make reservations and we were not disappointed, all aspects from dining experience to food and food quality were impeccable. We would highly recommend this establishment to others."

  • "We read a favorable review and were not disappointed. The seafood tower was fabulous with almost everything prepared to perfection. Service was friendly, accommodating, and efficient. A memorable dining experience."

  • "Excellent! The reservation process was easy. Food and service superb!"

  • "Great fish restaurants are actually hard to find. This is one. It is a rare gem. We started with a dozen oysters and martinis. Then we had sashimi and sushi, which were astonishingly fresh and well prepared. Then we had the Mediterranean sea bass and Nova Scotia lobster, and finished with the warm chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. The server, Jean, did a meticulous and courteous job of handling the entire dinner. Altogether, the dinner was very well done by the entire staff at Blue Water."

  • "We didn't find our time at BWC to be special, in fact, we were treated rudely by the hostess as well as a waiter who pushed us to the "proper" space in the bar. Food was fine...we had the seafood tower, sushi, etc. Wine from BC was great. Overall...eh, just okay."

  • "This was my first time to Blue Water Cafe. I can't believe what I have been missing. The staff were so amazing!! Very helpful and knowledgeable. We sat at the bar ....every cocktail and wine selection was perfect. The scallop ceviche and crab salad were our favourites. Very very busy and fun!"

  • "The six of us had a lovely evening of seafood. Bryson, our waiter was flawless. One of the diners was a restaurant man was very impressed with the food and the service. Everyone cleaned his plate. Two of the women who usually only graze, ate everything on their plates. Thanks so much BWC."

  • "The food, wine, and service were all spectacular! We ate here our second night (of 5) in Vancouver, after 4 days on vacation in Seattle. It stands out as one of our BEST meals. During our travel, we limited ourselves to local/provincial products. We started with 3 varieties of oysters, based on our server's recommendation. Delicious! New to the North, he had the Char. He found it to be fabulous: perfectly cooked, flaky texture: yummy! The halibut special was also perfectly cooked, sauced and accompanied. The BC wines have not disappointed. We plan to return, as soon as we return to Vancouver."

  • "We took some out of town visitors to Blue Water Cafe to showcase the best Vancouver has to offer. Our friends live in NYC and Boston, travel a lot and have high standards. The whole experience was phenomenal, exceptional food, service and ambiance. We had a selection of oysters, ceviche, toro sashimi and seared hamachi (tsunami). I particularly liked the sashimi. For mains: scallops, sablefish, halibut and tuna. I tried the scallops and halibut: the scallops were delicate, while the halibut (which was on special) was deliciously rich. Our friends raved about their dishes, and were very impressed with the whole night. We'll go again for a romantic dinner or for a special meal."

  • "Seafood is fresh, variety amazing and preparation/presentation outstanding! Hope you don't get seated next to 4 loud guys who drank too much who belonged in a sports bar watching the world cup rather than in a fine restaurant."

  • "Great place to take your visiting mom for her birthday. We enjoyed the great ambiance and probably the most delicious tuna tartar that I've ever had."

  • "Everything we read about this restaurant was spot on. Impressive cocktails, creative and delicious food plus impeccable service makes for an outstanding night out. Highly recommended!!"

  • "The food was great. But for such a good restaurant, I was expecting great service but because of our server, our meal was diminished. Didn't have the best experience which dampens the excellence of the food. Maybe one day well go back but not in any rush."

  • "This restaurant was highly recommended and we were not disappointed. The food, service and atmosphere were all wonderful. It was busy and lively on a Wednesday which made for a very festive atmosphere. Our waiter was excellent and did not rush us. The staff was very helpful in getting us a cab after dinner. We will definitely return."

  • "Our server really knew the menu and wines. We received excellent service all evening. The food was outstanding.....from appitizers to dessert! My sablefish was cooked to perfection. They even created a tomato pasta with chicken for my daughter who said it was really tasty. The restaurant is slightly louder than I would like it to be but the atmosphere is very comfortable."

  • "We sat outside which was great as it was a lovely evening. Service was great and our waiter was very helpful with wine and food recommendations. I had heard a lot about the food prior to my visit and I was not disappointed it was fantastic. We had a seafood selection for two to start which was the highlight for me, lovely fish main and save room for dessert!"

  • "The food was great. The portions are extremely small, but very expensive. We experienced this all over Vancouver. However, the quality of the food was outstanding."

  • "Scrumptious food and amazing service... There was nothing left to wish for at the end of the night... What a fabulous experience!!"

  • "Food was outstanding, but even better was the server! She was knowledgeable about both food and wine, gave great recommendations, made us feel as if we were the only table she was looking after. The food was fabulous. Other reviewers mentioned it was pricey. For me it was great value - I'm from the largest city in Canada and meals like this are far more expensive at home. All around a great experience."

  • "Service: Fantastic service. Was told in the beginning that the restaurant was full and the hostesses could not accommodate my request for a four-top. However, because of a cancellation, we were quickly shown to a spacious booth. Server (Tara) was fantastic. Knew the menu, gave great recommendations, was engaging, and provided quality service. Food: Amazing seafood, never had better sablefish in my life. My BF and I ordered the Seafood Tasting for Two which was a great way for us to get to know all the appys in small portions - would strongly recommend this for all new-comers. The Dungeness Crab Salad was flavourful."

  • "We started with a dozen raw oysters - yummy! I had the sablefish and my husband had the artic char - both were delicious! Our waiter was very attentive and recommended a nice wine from British Columbia. This restaurant was such a treat - we highly recommend!"

  • "We were told by a friend that this was a great restaurant. We agree, it was great. Not to missed on a visit to Vancouver. The four of us had a great dinner, and our Server was wonderful. We really liked Vancouver too."

  • "It is certainly expensive but the food is outstanding. Great for a special occasion."

  • "Great food items and presentation, very knowledgable Sommelier."
    Dined on 6/20/2014
  • "We had oysters and a couple of fish entrees. The puree'd carrot that came in a small pool of olive oil along side the bread was really fantastic. Everything (except maybe their seaweed flavored butter) was excellent. I do not like my fish even slightly over cooked and both preparations were really wonderful. The bar appeared to be hopping and the restaurant was full so clearly on a Thursday night it's a happening Vancouver place. Next time you are up in Canada make a reservation."

  • "Great fresh and super tasty food set in an conducive atmosphere reflecting the Vancuver city life."
    Dined on 6/17/2014
  • "The seafood here is amazing! We had a special halibut sushi appetizer that we would never find elsewhere, and I also highly recommend the smoked salmon terrine. (I appreciate the thoughtful service; they split it for us onto two plates since we were sharing.) Char and sturgeon main courses: superb. Too full for dessert, but we took home a box of lovely macarons for later, which was such a good idea. The cocktail list is thoughtful and the drinks are made perfectly. This is one of the best restaurants we've been to."

  • "Great ultra-fresh oysters, likewise sashimi, a terrific multi-branched tower of marine appetizers, and expert explanations of the menu from our engaging French waiter made for a memorable evening as among the glitterati of Vancouver, out to preen their feathers. We were disappointed, four days later, to find the restaurant booked out for a single party as we were keen for another go before returning to London. Highly recommended."

  • "You will almost forget what you ate when you walk out the door. The presentation of the food is good but that's about it. The service is not anything to write home about either. How can there be no refill on water for the whole course of the dinner? We have to ask for water/drink when he gave us the bill in the end. Also, the food is just average and I am not ordering salad and normal thing if that's what you are thinking. Our table have ordered the seafood tower with lobster as appetizer. I, mysself, have kobe beef as entree. I am not a kitchen person but I think I can go to a super market, buy all the seafood and just put them on top of ice plates myself. The beef from Costco is actually better than the kobe beef."
