We had about 7 dishes between the
4 of us and all were good.. Some of them I would prefer to have all to myself!"

She was quite impressed - did not
expect such good food at a department store restaurant. We both had the chicken tacos, and they were delicious, as always. Small plates are just the right size. We each had a glass of Proseco as well, and it was a lovely dinner."

Blue Stove consistently has great
food. It is one of out favorite local restaurants."
Dined on 2/13/2014
I have been here a few times with
my husband for lunch and just recently with a dear old friend. The food has always been consistently delicious, is well priced and portions are a nice size for 1 or to share and taste. I find it to be a nice change of pace from the other restaurants in the mall and a wonderful place for a delicious light bite, glass of wine or cocktail and conversation."

The Blue Stove in Nordstrom at the
Oaks Mall in Thousand Oaks serves a large variety of tapas. Each tapas plate is perfect for sharing by two or three people. Our group of four ordered a total of eight plates, and the amount was just right. Sharing and comparing favorites was fun. All agreed that the risotto was our favorite and the mini-tacos were the runner-up. All the dishes were well-prepared and tasty. The bill was $100 without alcohol. Reservations are advisable. We arrived before 6 on a Saturday night. By the time we left at 7 the place was full."

they consistently have the best
service ... and the food ... always tasty!"
Dined on 1/3/2014
Who would think a store would have
a restaurant that serves such delicious food? Well yes, it is Nordstrom so it's probably not that surprising but honestly, everything I've had at the Blue Stove has been completely yummy. My favorite is the Cilantro Lime Chicken Tacos. Then there's the Ricotta Meatballs, and Sweet Potato Fries with killer Cilantro Aioli, Arugula Salad with Parmesan Polenta Croutons...You can't go wrong with anything on the menu."
Dined on 1/6/2014
Best food in town!!! Great for
date night or group of friends. Tons of small plates great for sharing. Superb."

boothes are a bit cramped but
otherwise love the place."

The beet or vegetable salad is a
great first course, both delicious. The short rib sliders excellent. The cherry glazed beef is a favorite, although we found it a bit dry this visit. Black Cod is superb, salt and pepper calamari crunchy. The skirt steak is also a nice beef choice. Both mushroom dishes are quite flavorful. The wine by the glass list is interesting. The atmosphere is darkish, but gives a nice upscale feel - you forget you are dining inside Nordstrom! Our server, Kristen, was great although some training seems prudent - once a diner has a glass of white wine and then orders a different, red wine - the server should always put it in a new, clean glass. So the service isn't as polished, yet we found it delightful."

Tasty, creative small plates that
are meant to be shared. The hard part it deciding which items to try. You can't go wrong with the lime tacos and the cherry glazed beef. The menu varies on what local produce is available, but there is always something new to try."
Dined on 11/17/2013
The service is not that great, had
to flag down the server more than once. Food was not all that. This is definitely ok for lunch, but not up to dinner standards. I did like the tacos, but other dishes had too much salt. I was sorry I wasted a Saturday night on a Nordstrom Restaurant."
Dined on 7/5/2013
Took my wife out a date after 35
years of marriage. Restaurant was clean the atmosphere was good and she enjoyed it once you looked at the table and found flowers on there. The food portions were the correct size for two to happily enjoy a lite meal. I would recommend this place for a romantic get away for dinner or lunch."
Dined on 10/27/2013
We had a few frequent diners with
our group of 8 who knew what to order so that we could maximize the number of taste sensations. From the spicy chicken lettuce cups and black cod with miso to the sweet potato fries and risotto it was all delicious. We ordered two of each item so that everyone could sample a bit - we ordered a lot, ate a lot and left very happy. Having a larger group is a bonus (make reservations for larger groups, the restaurant was packed). The atmosphere is dark, noisy and energetic. Lots of tables were using their flashlight apps to read the menu"

The food is fantastic! I've been
here three times and I haven't found anything I didn't absolutely love. The service tends to be slow, but the atmosphere, food and wine list more than make up for it."
Dined on 10/11/2013
After reading the reviews I
thought I would stop here while driving thru town with my daughter...... The plates come as they are ready so my daughters came first...... It was meatballs and it was pretty good... Then came our calamari on a plate that was about 5 inches ( kind of like a olive oil & vinegar sized plate ).... The calamari was small in size hard and very over cooked.... Then lastly came my chicken tacos.... Wow! Small small small...... Same small plate and very little ground chicken under a bunch of lettuce...... Was not at all impressed with the food, the lack of professional attention from the staff..... What a let down!"
Dined on 9/29/2013
Green beans cooked perfectly with
tasty sauce. Cod dish was tasty, but tiny, tiny, tiny portion (probably two small bites). Fries were good, but again, very small portion and it shouldn't have been. Fries are fries-give a little bit more, please. Mushroom dish was tasty and the perfect tapas portion.Servers were friendly, but we had to ask to get water refills. When we asked for more bread the server stated that the 5 slices is the designated amount. I guess if we said we would pay for more, they would have brought out more bread. Really? Bread?Wine list was good. Had a good Pinot. The chefs know what they're doing which is essential. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again, but when hungry at Nordstroms I may try again to be fair."
Dined on 9/26/2013
The tacos are so tasty I will make
a special effort to drive 25 miles from home to eat here. There are other good options on the menu, fun to share several of the small plates."
Dined on 9/21/2013
Great place Exellent service! Do
not order the Notebook red wine it was a twist top, fizzy and did not go down smooth with dinner, we made the mistake of ordering abottle with dinner"
Dined on 9/8/2013
After an excellent lunch, my
friend and I, still talking, walked out of the restaurant into the main store. Unknowingly, I left my iPad behind on the seat of the booth! I had been showing my friend pictures on the iPad and hadn't put it back in my tote! I discovered my stupidity about 45 minutes later, in the parking lot. Panicked, I rushed back in. The busboy had it waiting for me. Naturally, I gave him a nice tip. I certainly will return to this good restaurant . Reflects well on Nordstrom's, too, a store that always puts its customers first."
Dined on 9/3/2013
This place is great when I'm on a
mall trip with the girls. For being a mall restaurant onside of a store, it's great. I live the tapas style plates. You can try a little of this, a little of that."
Dined on 8/8/2013
Was a wonderful surprise to find
such a gem in a mall. Loved it. I wish it was closer to where I live so I could frequent it regularly."

Went to the Blue Stove for the
first time with my Mom and we loved it! The food was AMAZING and the service was FANTASTIC!! Everyone we encountered at the Blue Stove was very nice but our server Erin was AWESOME! Very knowledgeable and friendly!! We shared the Lemon Scented Risotto with Seared Scallops & French Beans, The Korean BBQ Short Rib Sliders, Sweet Potato Frites with Cilantro Lime Aïoli and for desert Chocolate Banana Crème Brûlée. Everything was so delicious. I am not a fan of cilantro but after trying the Cilantro Lime Aioli I am now! Were we sat I got to watch the chef's in action and they were INCREDIBLE! We went early in the day the ambiance was quite and intimate. We will definitely be returning!!"

The lamb brochettes were amazing.
Everything we ordered was great. It lived up to my high expectations since I have had good experiences there before."
Dined on 7/13/2013
Make a reservation and ask for a
booth. Walk-ins get seated at tables - set for 4. Excellent service with excellent food. Servers do announce smaller portions - good to split for 2."
Dined on 7/3/2013
I've seen this restaurant when
they remodeled the mall way back but I it was the first time I dined there last weekend. The place is very comfortable and I feel differently about the place probably just because of the ambience and the atmosphere. It's not very bright inside but not dark that it's hard to see. It's a nice little place with a bar and can sit down and chat or just have a casual date."
Dined on 6/29/2013
I took my team members to a
business lunch. The food was amazing! service on point and friendly without being invasive - a tall young man, African American, I believe. Just a great experience overall."
Dined on 6/20/2013
I highly suggest Blue Stove. It is
small plate style dining at it's best. Blue Stove is excellent food, well prepared, with excellent service and atmosphere. 4 or 5 dishes split between two people is perfect. Most dishes are excellent, with standouts being scallops with lemon risotto, lamb brochettes, and the heirloom tomato with buratta cheese salad. But all dishes are great. You can't go wrong on a late afternoon in Thousand Oaks at Blue Stove."
Dined on 6/8/2013
A pleasant surprise all the way
around. Really enjoyed the menu and ambiance."
Dined on 5/29/2013
We have been going to the Blue
Stove for years now... before the masses discovered it! And, it is by far one of our most favorite places! The food is always consistently good and the service is excellent. The menu changes so there are new things to try and fall in love with! Not to mention, they typically have daily specials which are always fantastic! Just love this place!"
Dined on 5/13/2013
Like others, I was skeptical about
all the great reviews of a restaurant in a department store but we weren't disappointed. i had the two salads, the apple, mango and goat cheese salad, which was very tasty and the warm Goat Cheese Salad with Beets & Arugula. My wife and daughter's meals were also great. My pet peeve in other restaruants, not filling my cofee cup (I drink a lot of decaf), was solved with a French press that was left at the table and kept the brew plentiful and warm. The wait staff was responsive and friendly and everything was great."

Mother's Day is better when kids
are of drinking age and they are paying. Appetizers and drinks- if you don't like that you are a shiddy person to share this earth with."
Dined on 5/12/2013
My friend and I always come to
Blue Stove for a Mother's Day lunch. It's always good, and the service is attentive but not overbearing. We get the local cheese plate every time we go, and have never had a bad plate of food there."
Dined on 5/12/2013
We eat here often and it's always
terrific. The table servers here are always fantastic - professional, fun, well-informed about the food and wine."
Dined on 4/22/2013
Very enjoyable dining experience.
It's not a Nordstrom's Cafe. It's a really good restaurant located in Nordstroms..."
Dined on 4/19/2013
It's rare to find such a
delightful spot inside a retail store. The small plates menu is a welcome change from the typical Chicken Caesar Salad type of offerings usually found. The care in putting together a menu that would please diverse palates is obvious and the food is delicious. I've been there numerous times and am always trying something different and I've never been disappointed."
Dined on 4/20/2013
Great food. Perfect service.
Located upstairs in the Nordstroms in Thousand Oaks, this hidden tapas style dining experience is our favorite place to eat. Our top few favorites are: lime chicken tacos, risotto with scallops, broccoliini, crispy beef and cherry and the salad with candied pecans. We've almost tried the rest but these are our favorites. Also, try their Republic of Tea iced teas perfect flavors to match the food."
Dined on 4/6/2013
A little skimpy on the wine pours
but other than that very good."
Dined on 4/5/2013
Love this restaurant and return
again and again. Excellent food at reasonable prices. Good for dinner and lunch. The small plate menu makes it easy to share. Very convenient if you are at the Oaks mall, although worth a trip just for the food. The chicken lime tacos are a favorite. Only complaint (and it's a small one) is that the dessert menu is only so-so - but there is a See's Candy in the mall."
Dined on 3/29/2013
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed
our dining experience at the Blue Stove. Two of our children had tried it and recommended it to us. The food was terrific, the service was attentive and professional and the background music still permitted conversation."
