Blue Stove at Nordstrom Thousand OaksGreat restaurant in Nordstrom??Like others, I was skeptical about all the great reviews of a restaurant in a department store but we weren't disappointed. i had the two salads, the apple, mango and goat cheese salad, which was very tasty and the warm Goat Cheese Salad with Beets & Arugula. My wife and daughter's meals were also great. My pet peeve in other restaruants, not filling my cofee cup (I drink a lot of decaf), was solved with a French press that was left at the table and kept the brew plentiful and warm. It's always good, and the service is attentive but not overbearing. The small plates menu is a welcome change from the typical Chicken Caesar Salad type of offerings usually found. The care in putting together a menu that would please diverse palates is obvious and the food is delicious. Located upstairs in the Nordstroms in Thousand Oaks, this hidden tapas style dining experience is our favorite place to eat. Our top few favorites are: lime chicken tacos, risotto with scallops, broccoliini, crispy beef and cherry and the salad with candied pecans. We've almost tried the rest but these are our favorites. Service this time wasn't as quick, but our waitress was wonderful. One plate never came out though, but was on the bill. She took care of it immediately and apologized profusely. The only negative was that there was a long gap in service on our second round of dishes. Apparently our plates waited a while for delivery because my skirt steak arrived cold. It would have been much better if it came hot (or even tepid). I've been several times and to date haven't had a bad dish. Service is fairly fast and cheerful, with good explanations about the food.
