Each room offers comfort, a friendly attentive staff and excellent food and bar. We offer versatile accommodations including outdoor dining and a wide selection of menu choices for any size gathering with a special focus on our impressive wine collection. Private dining is available for 8-90 people on premise. We also cater larger parties off premise.

  • "I took my brother out to Blue Star for his birthday. We shared the daily offering of breads, duck confit, pork belly Mac & Cheese, and fried Nutella. Everything was delicious and well cooked. The portions were a little mismatched, the duck confit being a large plate but a smaller size than expected. The Mac and Cheese however was larger than expected, so we left well satisfied. The fried Nutella was excellent as well, but could have used a bit more coulis to cut the richness. The bread and blue cheese garlic spread was fantastic. Our server was knowledgable and friendly, knowing just when to stop by the table to check on us. We did visit earlier on a Wednesday night so it was a fairly slower night, but the music was good."

  • "My wife and I met another couple there for dinner on Saturday. We were very pleased with the knowledgeable staff and given excellent recommendations on delicious red and white wines by the glass. This was followed up with a moderately sized menu where we tried a number of different dishes, some of which were small plates and others full dinner size. We chose to eat family style so we were able to try a good variety from the menu. Each item was well thought out, presented beautifully and most importantly - delicious. We especially enjoyed the scallop small plate, shrimp small plate, quinoa small plate and the trout entree. I highly recommend this place. We'll be coming back soon."

  • "Service was excellent; place fills up with reservations quickly. Easy access off of Division and tables are spaced far enough that you don't feel like you are cramped with your neighbors. Very astute server who helped us pace the meal appropriately given what we ordered and how we were progressing with our meal. The nutella balls were incredibly rich, but oh so good. Owner/manager was on point and definitely managing flow and guest expectations. Great visit and really recommend it for date night."

  • "You should probably ask how many "x" come on each plate though- the scallops (which are super awesome) come two to a plate, which was perfect for the two of us. We had a salad (so good!) and split four small plates- the scallops, bacon wrapped dates (so good here, really quite exquisite and we've had and made a lot of bacon wrapped dates), osso bucco (not as into this, too salty), and the MAC AND CHEESE (incredible! The beer flavors make it awesome, and the accompanying bratwurst was great). They were a little short staffed but very friendly and attentive. We're having our wedding reception there! This trip was just to try out the food."

  • "I enjoyed the restaurant quite a lot. The wine list was really nice. I also lived the small and large plate options. The burgers are fantastic. I also think the pork BBQ sliders are a winner. The cheese plate is also great. My one catch is that the mains came out before we were finished with the apps. I am likely being picky here but it is a pet peeve of mine. Service was super friendly and efficient otherwise. Oh and the dates and bacon were divine. :)"

  • "We came here to celebrate a 21st birthday. It was a Monday and we wanted to try something new with good food. It wasn't good food; it was GREAT food. The pork sliders were prepared with the BEST BBQ sauce I have ever had, the burger was on very light bread and was full of great taste. The fried nutella is also out of this world. I was surprised at how small the wine list was, being a wine bar, but they had great selections and during the week some are half price! We were one of only three tables there on a Monday night but PLEASE don't let that deter you. It is located slightly off the beaten path south of Lincoln & Wicker Parks, and west of downtown so it is definitely a destination spot, but amazing nonetheless."

While the wine list is notable, we were disappointed that they were out of a few selections, but given the weather I know a lot of places have had difficulties getting deliveries. Also, our table was rickety (leaves were extended to accommodate us and they felt like they were going to fall through the whole evening) which took some getting used to. But overall the atmosphere was delightful, cozy and warm and the food was amazing. Will definitely dine here again."

I have had phenomenal service two times and meh service the other, but not enough to keep me from coming back. The blueberry/goat cheese croquettes and lamb bolognese are outstanding, the latter being one of my favorite dishes I have had anywhere."

  • "I have driven past this little hidden place off the neighborhood on Division a zillion times, but underestimated it's delightful charms. The first nice thing about this place is the free street parking right in front and it's quieter location away from the main Wicker Park drag. My husband and I are hunters for great wine bars with gourmet morsels, and Blue Star did not disappoint with a pique tasting experience. Not only was the food and wine heavenly, but each bite, each course, contained the most beautiful visual presentation. Topped off with a rustic, charming live classical guitarist, the overall experience was worth making it our memorable special occasion."

We ordered the soup, which was delicious, and then ordered a bunch of small plates to share. We had such a great time, we ended up drinking wine, eating, and chatting for almost 3 hours.   • "I went there with my parents, who prefer quieter restaurants these days. This place was PERFECT. The night we went the server mentioned things were quieter because of the holidays, but it was exactly what we wanted. The wine list made my dad happy, and I loved that they do flights where you can pick your own 3 wines! Low down on the food: Butternut squash salad - delicious. Great balance of flavors and not too sweet Tomato basil soup - this was the special and it was very flavorful. Not just a boring tomato soup. Bread with garlic spread - YUM. Burrata - INCREDIBLE. You kinda gotta do this. My dad got the Tuna and really enjoyed that too. All in all, this was the perfect spot for us. I would absolutely go back there again."

It is a foodie's delight and some unfamiliar items were thoroughly described. Then the food- We shared the hash as an appetizer. Beautiful to view and wonderful to share. Unique. My wife had scallops. There was so much on which to comment and all of it positive.. I followed our waiters recommendation and had the short ribs. Again, indescribable and great. We shared the Signature Dessert Combo.. I'm repeating myself but it too was unique and wonderful. This is one of the finest food experiences we've had in our travels. It is convenient to the CTA system, has an extensive and quality wine list. A MUST GO-TO"

Those divine little balls of fried cheese, the amazing squash soup, and the vast selection of wines were only the beginning. The steak and the tuna were cooked to perfection, the vegetable pairings were perfect, and do I even get started on dessert? The fried Nutella may have been a little on the heavy and sweet side after devouring such a large meal, but the Flourless cake was delicious. For me, the Blue Star of the night goes to the Cappuccino Pot de Creme. That may have been one of the most perfect things I have ever tasted. This will definitely be a repeat dinner spot for us!"

  • "Blue Star is always phenominal and has updated their menu for fall. Like with a good friend, change can be intimidating but the chef at Blue Star delivers! New mac & cheese appetizer is great. The skirt steak is my favorite and comes with amazing brussel sprouts (I was never a fan of brussel sprouts until I tried these) and literally the best mash potatos I've ever had. I can not beleive how good they are, I was just blown away that mash potatos (something that typically is not enticing to me) could be so good (these had spinach in them). To top it all off the chef came to say hi and when I asked how he made them he walked us through the whole process and pointed out the tricks to getting it perfect. Such a nice guy."

We were told they were having a problem with their computer, but I don't know what that has to do with waiting an unacceptably long time for drink orders to arrive, or a long, long wait for our bill."
